What I Want To See In Mass Effect 4

Muaz at Twinfinite writes: "I wanted to preface this edition of Make It So with the caveat that I loved the original Mass Effect 3 ending, and the Extended Cut made me catatonic when I first saw it. I’m a firm believer in the creative team over at BioWare and I’m sure the next game in the Mass Effect series will live up to the high standards of its predecessor. Now this doesn’t mean that I don’t have things I would like to see. If anything, my love for the Mass Effect series got my creative juices flowing; so here’s what I want to see in Mass Effect 4."

More missions with the Mako. I was sad they cut it out of the 3rd one. I really liked the planetary exploration while in a vehicle. Then if something interesting popped up, you could jump out to explore.
I really really enjoyed the Mass Effect series and I would hate if they changed up too much with the game mechanics or choices.
The Author makes some great points about the Relays no longer working and possibly picking the main characters race would be fun too.

They need to make it like ME1.

ME1 felt like a living world with characters and a story I mostly cared about. The Citidel was awesome.

Make ME4 like ME1 + improvements and your off to a good start.

* As the story went on though, some of it got less and less epic.

GhostTurtle3714d ago (Edited 3714d ago )

Exactly. Bioware needs to get back to the rpg/exploration feel. I swear I'm the only one who seems to think ME1 was the best in the series.

Retard3714d ago

ME1 reveal of the major 'enemy' is what made it so dramatic. Teased the audience, tricked them really.

The only way to appeal to the audience again would be to reveal the original race that created the Reapers. AKA the Skynet race.

aLucidMind3714d ago

There was no race that created the Reapers, as they were created by a computer AI.

Retard3714d ago

I was under the assumption that the Reapers destroyed their creators because they were seen as a 'threat'

So, who made the AI come to light?

aLucidMind3713d ago (Edited 3713d ago )

The Leviathans, who have the same indoctrination ability and look exactly like the Reapers. The Leviathans thought they were the pinnacle of evolution and controlled lesser species. The lesser species created machines to make their lives easier and eventually created the technological singularity, basically like the Geth vs Quarians. Leviathans created the AI to preserve life because the AIs were actually slaughtering people (unlike the Geth who were largely just trying to run off the Quarians), but it went to the extreme.

It slaughtered the Leviathans, slushied them like humans were in ME2, and made Harbinger. Then proceeded to do the same to their organic subjects, leaving species not advanced enough for flight or robotics and the rest ME1 basically explains. It chose the look of the Leviathans for the Reapers as a sort of monument, I suppose.

This was all stated in the Leviathan DLC, meant to foreshadow the ending because little of that was done. It also has a few other interesting bits on a few other topics like the theory that the Rachni war was due to them being indoctrinated. Even with it spoiled a bit, it's still worth buying and playing because it does add a grander scope to the plot (unlike the Omega DLC).

fossilfern3714d ago

Not a poor Gears clone, and bring back the RPG elements! And make it more space opera, like ME1. I felt the last 2 games were nothing more than a TPS.

tanookisuit3714d ago

Yes, to everything you said! I miss that "spacey-age" feeling from ME1.

yazter3714d ago

Mass Effect 2 should be the gold standard for this game.

BigPappaPump3714d ago

Smudboy's Bookends of Destruction. Nuff said.

Husso3714d ago

Just make a few spin ofs focusing on the other races.

Mass Effect 4 and The Challenges of Canonicity in Choice-Based Games

Game Rant Writes "Canonicity can be a tricky nut to crack in franchises with continuing narratives, and that's something Mass Effect 4 will need to contend with."

wow gamerant forgot mass effect 4 came out years ago number 6 and 7 were cancelled.

The new mass effect which can be called number 5 will not have any of your choices why you might ask?

Well dragon age keep were your choices from number one can been seen in number 3 got unplugged from number one and number 2 is finicky.

Dragon age on pc requires a mod to get past the server login and non of your choices get uploaded to the keep even the dlc no longer works sense it needs a server check.

On xbox i teseted this only though local saves i was able to transfer choices from one to too but 0 of one dlc would work.

So if the more popular dragon age series is in this state why would they care about your mass effect choices?

Oh and that remaster that was tossed out still has day one issues and number 3 is still hard to play on pc do to lighting issues and ram limits imposed from 2014.

My expectations for the next bioware 2.0 titles is very low.

They should redo the main trilogy

just_looken373d ago (Edited 373d ago )

They should redo the dragon age trilogy for sure on pc DA1 the ui is messed up sense it was for 4080p/720i days back in 2005. Getting to run is also very hard

The only way to play dragon age one is via xbox one backwards compatable state.

The ps3 version of dragon age one is pre throphy/ in game xmb so it has the freezing/crashing issues or just will not run.

Well i am not American so please enlighten me on usa education before your country invades mine and forces us into your society

GhostScholar372d ago (Edited 372d ago )

@ just_looken

Did I mention education? Never said America did have negative points. I know for all you “enlightened” people you think everything is either all good or all bad, but in reality that’s not how life works. We have a government that traded a known terrorist for a basketball player who moonlights as a drug dealer. We aren’t perfect by a long shot. If you want to go political though how about your leader leaving his own country when the truck driver strike happened?

porkChop372d ago

Dragon Age is not more popular than Mass Effect.

shinoff2183372d ago

Yea I read that and was like I've heard way more people talk mass effect compared to dragon age. Personally I'm more into mass effect. It's got the whole dope ass sci fi thing going on while dragon age has the same old medieval thing

gold_drake372d ago

andromeda is a spin off tjo and not considerd a numvered title. as it has to 99% nothing to do with the trilogy.

i think they need to make the destroy perfect ending canon.
we need more of shepard. haha.

Mass Effect 4 Can Explore Post-Apocalyptic Themes

Game Rant Writes "Mass Effect 4 will likely treat Mass Effect 3’s Destroy ending as canon, and this gives it an opportunity to explore a post-apocalyptic galaxy."

Destroy is the best choice. Bring the relays back over the course of a new trilogy, maybe right at the end of the first game. Say it was Cerberus, Salarians or a bunch of keepers that created a relay.

To make sure the main characters face isn’t tired with the released game?
