TitanFall - FPS of the Year? | Sleeping Geeks

A look at the exclusive XBox FPS Titanfall that everybody is anticipating for this year.

Titanfall, where to start. Two factions, the IMC and the MCOR, battle it out for supremacy. The IMC is a resource based company rich in resources for the building of Titans. Their Titans look more polished and refined.

It's fun. It's very fun. It will sell incredibly well!

However...

Destiny.

pompombrum3715d ago

Was thinking the same thing.. FPS of the year will most likely go to Destiny for it's more innovative approach. However if there was an award for the most fun game of the year, that has Titanfall's name written all over it!

I don't like why they are forcing multipayer in destiny's single player campaign. And I personally don't like what is probably going to be a new trend in gaming borderlands 2 type of game. Shoot Loot shoot loot shoot loot shoot loot, bd2 is great but it gets boring. Oh yeah and the forced online single player. I thot they where gonna implement halo's 4 player splitscreen in destiny. I enjoy playing on the couch with my friends and screaming at each other.

@ Blackstrr411

It being an MMO, Destiny will guarantee a gaming experience far from mundane or boring. In a persistent online world, anything can and will happen. Battles can start and finish right in front of you without warning.

Yeah as much as I loved the Titanfall beta (and will no doubt devote a big chunk of my time playing it), the real beauty is Destiny. It's all about that Bungie magic. They gave us the legendary Halo series after all ;)

Just imagining going through cool environmentswith friends...you seem some flashes of light in some canyon and you come across other players fighting some massive beast.

They're about to die....they quickly look at you...

And then....BOOOM

This starts playing in all our heads:

I love TitanFall, but Destiny being multiplatform really will help. Plus is has single player and multiplayer. I think Destiny will be game of the year unless The Division is able to be released in 2014 but I don't think it's going to make it.

Titanfall looks basic compared to Destiny. Destiny has the potential to be FPS of the year more than TF,considering TF doesn't even have a single player campaign

MysticStrummer3715d ago

Looks like everyone had the same thought I did upon seeing the title.

Destiny.

Jahbu3715d ago

Loved the Titanfall beta but Destiny looks like it will hold that title this year. Lets just hope it doesn't get delayed....please don't get delayed. I need that Destiny now!

Although the late 2000s Turok wasn't my favorite, I would love a new entry. Open world survival with shotguns and dinosaurs. Not sure how we'd get the fusion cannon, but that would be pretty sweet too.

Lol

All of these games are pretty much universally praised. Outside of Timeshift I literally own all of these.

XIII, The Darkness 2, Far Cry: Blood Dragon, Timesplitters: future perfect, Bulletstorm are awesome games

An ode to Titanfall: The last twitch shooter I'll probably ever enjoy

Windows Central: "Titanfall 1 is being sunset, taken off storefronts by EA. While the servers remain live for now, one has to wonder just how much time it has left. I look back and pay tribute to the last "twitch"-styled shooter I ever truly loved."

Physical media. Unfortunately the way games are going these days game servers will eventually be shut down and you can stare at the menu and wish you could play the game again.

This is why reading is so important. Nothing to do with digital or physical media. The game, which is online only, is being delisted because of DDOS and other hacker attacks. The case got so bad that only six players in the world log on. For PC. Rather than fix it, they continued to sell the game, broken as it is, and only now just decided to call it quits. But please, go on thinking what you will.

Ethereal871d ago

I'm aware of the DDOS attacks and that this case is not typical. This game would eventually have it's servers shutdown regardless of the current situation so that is a moot point. My comment was in a general sense and that there are instances in which games can be preserved physically when official support ends.

Let's recap your first sentence. I said, "the way GAMES are going these days" indicating a broader stroke than just this game. I agree, reading IS important. I was simply stating the obvious downsides of the digital marketplaces and online only trends in games these days. I could even make the argument that the online only offering which has allowed hacker manipulation has impacted the preservation of this great game. My comment is valid in the general sense and thank you for your permission to continue to think what I will.
