PS4 is starting to sell more in the US alone than Xone sells in the entire world.

MS needs to make live more like Plus or offer some other value proposition.

Software_Lover3716d ago

Live has nothing to do with it. PS4 is the media darling this gen and it is cheaper.

Price is the main factor.

These doom articles are worse than the ps3 articles though. The Xbox will survive.

abzdine3716d ago

"PS4 beats the Xbox One in its home turf"
This was only the case with 360. PS consoles have always trounced the competition even in NA.
I just call this "things go back to normal".

MightyNoX3716d ago (Edited 3716d ago )

It's not about surviving...you really think a multi-billion corp like Microsoft wants a device to 'just survive' they wanted it to DOMINATE.

Xbox One was/is the culmination of a generational plan set forth by the original Xbox, (almost) perfected by Xbox 360 and now passed unto the Xbone.

After 13 years, it SHOULD have been the number one console in the US. Being firmly in second place in it's home turf is not what I call a success.

Software_Lover3716d ago (Edited 3716d ago )

@MightyX

So, since the ps3 didn't "dominate" in NA they should've just dropped the entire gaming division right? I mean they "dominated" with the ps1 and the ps2 only to be trounced by the 360 (in N.A.). Home turf or not.

devices, corporations, etc, have their ups and downs. This is the nature of business. They will go on.

@abzdine
Exactly.

MasterCornholio3716d ago

"Price is the main factor. "

And the games and fhs superior hardware. Those three combined gives someone plenty of reasons to choose a PS4 over an Xbox One which is what's happening right now.

:)

Magicite3716d ago

-Actually this generation can be last for xbox or playstation (unlikely for playstation at this point), because neither of companies can afford to fail at this entertainment segment.
-Some of MS directors already want to get rid of xbox division and Sony stated themselves, that if PS4 wont do exceptionally well, then there will not be a PS5.
-Not sure about Nintendo though, dont think they will abandon console market even if WiiU utterly fails.

its too late for MS to do anything now damage has been done since E3.

KakashiHotake3716d ago

Damage has been done since the reveal.

MasterCornholio3716d ago

Damage has been done ever since people got the Xbox One confused with a water cooler.

;)

Gazondaily3716d ago

You never know; a drastic price cut could bring them back into the fight plus an impressive E3 showing will increase their chances.

But obviously Sony are going to be making moves too. This year's E3 is going to be epic.

WeAreLegion3716d ago

I am excited, but I'm worried about how cut throat MS and Sony might be at their conferences.

Gazondaily3716d ago

@WeareLegion

Let them battle it out and spill blood. It will be more entertaining and ultiamtely beneficial for us hehe

corvusmd3716d ago

It's only three months in, we all knew that PS4 was gonna take an early lead...to be honest I thought it would be worse. The $100 less price point is the main issue. However, all the early graphic jumpers have bought their console already, things will calm down, and when Titanfall and Halo release (mostly next Christmas) I think we will see a big jump in XB1 sales. I give it a year from launch till things start to even out. Contrary to what many WANT to believe, MS didn't become so successful because they are stupid. They will use their pockets and ideas to make XB1 appeal to more people, they've already started by doing it the right way and investing in AAA exclusive after AAA exclusive...it'll probably work out much the same way as last gen in the end. Either way, acting like MS is in trouble is disingenuous. Just because PS4 is doing really well, doesn't mean that XB1 isn't either, they are BOTH doing much better than last gen at this point.

ThatOneGuyThere3716d ago

of course there is going to be a jump in sales during christmas. but the ps4 isnt sitting idle while xb1 gets games. there are a TON of AAA titles from multiple genres being released on sony's system this year. Expect PS4 to absolutely dominate next holiday season as well.

WeAreLegion3716d ago

One of the richest companies in history can't keep up with a much MUCH smaller company. That's all I see. Sony came out of nowhere to own the gaming industry with their first console. Microsoft ended up in third place two generations in a row.

jimbobbeers3716d ago (Edited 3716d ago )

Sony is the biggest company in gaming by far, they had 120m+ PS2's out there, and lost that market share to both Ninty and MS. MS are a huge/rich company, but have always been underdogs in the console market.

Zool 083716d ago

Sony learned from it's mistakes, but it appears that Microsoft hasn't and that's why they're getting trounced on their home turf.

jimbobbeers3716d ago

Basically MS is doing what Sony did last generation. Pure arrogance.

KakashiHotake3716d ago (Edited 3716d ago )

I think Xbox One can recover but they will have to move quickly and they will have to take some drastic measures before things get too out of hand. By the end of March and the Japan launch, PS4 will possibly have sold twice as many Xbox One's Globally which puts XOne at a huge disadvantage with 3rd parties which is their bread and butter. They need to remove the Kinect and drop the price before the gap gets too wide. I know it's still early in the consoles life, and could be embarrassing for Microsoft, but if they wait too long the gap will only keep growing larger eventually beyond repair.

BitbyDeath3716d ago

Don't think they'll do any of that til at least E3.

abzdine3716d ago (Edited 3716d ago )

keep also in mind that xbox is far from being a profitable business and they are losing huge amounts of money on it. I really don't think MS will increase xbox division budget for next year just to cut the price especially with the shut off rumors.
price cut is out of the question atm and dropping Kinect would be a sign of massive failure.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing691d 2h ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos1d 1h ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius13h ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy8523h ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius13h ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
