Death Rattle.............

hellzsupernova3712d ago

Lol it is fine Sony hinted at it, just cause they haven't renewed it yet doesn't mean they won't or will abandoned the franchise

abzdine3712d ago (Edited 3712d ago )

haven't they just released Sonic All Stars Transformed with Ryu in it? doesn't that act as a use of the trademark?

and doesn't this have something to do with the massive series being announced soon on PS4?

Yu Suzuki's speaking at GDC next month with Mark Cerny translating. It all adds up with OPM's cover reveal next month.

Hopefully Shenmue 3 is announced with Sony picking up the trademark and an HD/Remake Collection of the first 2 games is released beforehand too!

I am hoping that this is the game that Playstation Madazine is announcing next month!

More like typical SEGA mismanagement. It's almost as if they are actively trying NOT to make money. Was it really that hard to release a Shenmue I and II HD Collection on a single Blu-ray for PS4 and XB1? Considering how well Shenmue upscales in PC emulators, it would be cheap to develop and it would sell millions on nostalgia and hype alone.

I don't know the first thing about business, but I could turn SEGA into one of the most profitable publishers in the industry in less than a year.

Is this the series that Sony was talking about that they were going to announce next month. I hope so. I've never played a Shenmue game but if Sony picked this up, I'd buy it. Even better if they release an HD collection before 3.

Now MS buys the trademark and makes a game...

This would be an absolute nightmare.

OmegaShen3712d ago

MS- Shenmue Kinect
Sony- Shenmue 3 at 1080p and 60fps (an maybe the last two HD Remaster).

Great, so instead of Press A to jump over the crates it's Flap your arms around like a windmill and lift one leg in the air.

I really loved my 360 but seriously, f**k the kinect

Buying a trademark doesn't give you the rights to the IP, just to the name.

Sega sells Relic and will cut 240 jobs across UK studios

GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.

The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."

Shame about Creative Assembly, they should have just been allowed to do an Alien Isolation sequel.

just_looken21d ago

It was that garbage coh 3 that did them in only a special team can make a sequel worse in every way even though it was a 10 year gap and the same era.

gold_drake22d ago

I hope they find new jobs in the industry soon.

Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive probably run on a shoe string budget so that fits into SEGA better lol

SEGA’s Switch Predecessor: What Happened to the Nomad?

Sega had such a turbulent existence from the mid-90s to when they dropped out of console manufacturing entirely in 2001, it’s understandable if you’ve never heard of the Genesis Nomad.
