Most of the people were actually disappointed with the boring battle and cluttered interface with all the damage numbers. The were no solid details about gameplay, story,world design and characters. Xeno games have never been killer apps or system sellers.They are excellent games but only niche titles (have been playing Xeno games since 1998). Truthfully I been waiting for the inevitable comparisons to come up! Sure everything in the opening paragraph could be subjectively true, but the statement could be only apllied to last gen consoles! This generation consoles are already exhibiting characteristics and attributes above what the WII U are capable of! Not trying to be funny about it......but the WII U will and does have technological gaps that will always prevent it from surpassing what the other two are capable of, even with the WII U pad.

As far as X is concerned, when I first saw it 2years ago it definitely showed a lot of promise, but going off of what I saw 2days ago, it definitely looked like it took a hit graphically! Also the playstyle looks different from what I think a lot of people were expecting, different is not saying bad by any means.

I noticed the same is happening with Bayonetta! To me it noway as impressive as it first looked when revealed! Perhaps it is because I have grown accustomed to what the Next Generation has already offered, or can offer, who knows!?

It this point a gap is there, graphical direction are almost totally different! Example would be PS4/Xbox1 graphics are more realistically based as opposed to the WII U more cartoonish looks. Don't believe me see for yourself, make the comparisons on all consoles out there, and you tell me there isn't a major difference in art direction.

It's not like Dead Rising 3 was crap. It was pretty fun. So was Killer Instinct. Forza was decent (if you like the sim racer genre ->I don't -> and you can get over the predatory microtransactions and reduced feature set from the last gen Forza).

And games frankly don't get much worse or more disappointing than lame misguided tedious garbage like Killzone: Shadow Fall(what a padded, irritating, overscripted set-piece mess) and Knack.

The best thing on PS4 right now is the multiplatform* games that are on everything else , and the budget DL retro-arcade title Resogun. (Which is a neat derivative of Defender.)

*(I preordered the new Strider, Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2, Thief, RE4: HD Ultimate Edition, Lego Marvel Universe, Assassin's Creed 4, Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts, and Titanfall all for PC, instead of a console, because I could.)

Don't get me wrong, Xbone is a ridiculous $500 and has that stupid camera, so I skipped it. I bought a PS4 mainly for Destiny in September but hoping that Infamous 2nd Son and MGS Ground Zeroes would be good when they come out next month. And I am still thinking of getting Diablo III for the PS4 now that the auction house is gone and the controller scheme has been worked out and the add on is out.

At present that PS4 I bought is a damned game desert if you own a PC to get multiplatform games on. It is a long way from having any library bragging rights.

What about the Free2Plays? Well...Warframe, Planetside 2, DC Online, Blacklight Retribution are all on PC and have been for a long time.

I'm supposed to be excited by PS+ ? Well, Resogun was really nice.

Giving me Don't Starve, Outlast, Contrast, (all on Steam) and upgraded versions of Flow and Flower from the Crossbuy on my old PS3 versions was a bit less impressive.

PS+ is great for PS3 and okay for Vita but for PS4 it's...well...'meh' ; makes me sound ungrateful for free stuff to "rent" or "subscribe to" but it is not blowing me away at this time. All but one of the freebies have been stuff I got cheap on Steam over the winter sale.

When the free starter version of Drive club comes out it should help things a lot.

A lot of it is because the three to six month launch window for a console is usually a lot of remastered ports and nonsense, but right now the PS4 library is honestly not very exciting at all. At least March seems likely to throw me a couple of bones.

Can the author at least compare X to other RPG titles that are only on the ps4 or xbone. First off, why does it matter if games like titan fall and the order are not open world? Titan fall is a multiplayer game and the order is a story driven game. I can almost guarantee you that the order will have a better story and characters compared to X just because of the way it is set up. Also, we have not seen any gameplay from the order so there can be no judgement on whether or not the gameplay is good. I can say that the graphics of the order are much better than X though. If any other studio made an RPG like X and put it on the ps4 or xbone I can guarantee that it will graphically look better, and will have much more gameplay innovation compared to X just because the true next gen consoles how the power to make that happen.

The system's specs does not inherently decide the innovative areas of design in a game.
That's down to the creators and design choices and the types of control methods available to the system.
The gap in graphics between systems is also much smaller this gen, so that's a moot point too.
X would not play better on the other two, and the graphical difference would be too small to matter.
Also, the wii u is just as much a next gen console as the other two. Gens ate defined by sequence, not specs, and if you think different then you need to stop kidding yourself.

Graphics may not be the main argument, but the wii u has not produced any game that can compete with those two games on a graphical scale. It probably can't play the game just like the other two consoles can. The wii u isn't weak, but it is much weaker compared to the other consoles. That power gap is a huge reason as to why many multi platform games are not coming to the wii u.

Before anyone comes in crying and disagreeing, note that I did not once say Monolith, X or Xenoblade are bad things. Monolith are excellent developers and X does look to be shaping along nicely. Now then...

Just like I said to the guy in the Vita article, I'll say it here.
This game will not be a system seller.
Why? Because it's a niche title.

The average gamer doesn't know or care about Monolith or Xenoblade. And if it were to become a no name wonder, it would require filing a market lacking good games of its genre (The amount of -decent- Sci Fi shooters before Halo 1 came out was laughable).

Like W101, this is destined to sell a handful of copies and that's it. Many particularly hardcore gamers who buy into niche titles and the like will be put off by the WiiU's hardware (again, not insulting X) and the core gamer who does stumble across a WiiU will most likely get just Mario and Zelda.

This is the same as Bayonetta 2. And as someone who LOVES niche titles (far more than AAA stuff), even I personally wouldn't buy a WiiU for a nice amount of niche titles due to the lack of price drops... I know I'd end up spending a lot.
And if I, Mr Niche Lover won't buy this... Who will?

Over the top statements like these are only going to give this game a bad rep. Most people don't understand the video anyway because they never played XC. It shows nothing more than your Final Fantasy like party killing random mobs found out in the open world. It's an rpg not an mmo. It is exactly how Xenoblade Chronicles plays. I am sure it will be awesome but in the world of quick fps games not sure a game changing number of kids will go for it. It is what is.

IMO, the coolest thing about gaming is having different systems/consoles to choose from and each of them having their own special arsenal.

While I don't believe this will be a PS4/XBONE killer, I do believe this will add to the great reasons why the Wii U will be a strong console in the months to come.

Destroy is an awful choice of words. That said, this looks way more interesting to me than the cookie cutter stuff coming out for the other systems. The order looks pretty cool, though.

Nintendo seems to be the only one interested in JRPGs these days, since Sony has westernized themselves so much, and Microsoft gave up on the genre.
