Why Do People Talk about SWTOR Like It’s a Failure?

A lot of people keep talking about SWTOR like it’s a failure but that’s really not the truth. So why do so many people seem to have this perception about SWTOR?

People make up their minds about whether they hate or like something and once their minds is made up, it is very hard to change it. Some people who think SWTOR is bad will continue to do so no matter what you tell them, even if the game is no longer like what it was since they played it. They will also seek reassurance from other people who share the same views so they can tell themselves that they made the right choice. It is really basic human psychology (known as Confirmation Bias). Also, the more difficult the choice, the harder people will go defend theirs.
The same hate you see on SWTOR you see it on ESO. Sure the game has flaws but the hate is mostly done by people who either never played the beta or played it for a few hours at most. They hear the game has over 200 million USD in development costs and the first thing they think is that the game is going to flop because it costed too much. The weekend beta model some of these games have adopted tend to also influence some of the views negatively as some players tend to get feel rushed and cannot enjoy everything the game has to offer.

It's a fairly fun experience. Any MMO that holds up well as a single-player experience, though can still offer a decent range of features that comes with the genre itself, is a good release in my books.
I don't play much myself, but I still come back from time to time. Would probably invest real time into it if I had time available. Life.

I loved this game and have played since launch but don't let this article fool you, this game is a step above life support. While they are still technically updating the game, the updates are few and far between and there is a significant lack of quality control, so many little bugs that have been present for years.

The updates felt flimsy to me also. Stopped playing in 2021.

This game got a huge update last year didn't it with more content?

They promoted it as an expansion yet offered like 3-4 hours of content. The game is amazing and easily one of the best Star Wars games ever made but content drops are so few and far between.
