After More Than 10 Years, Hideo Kojima Reveals MGS 2 Easter Egg

Hideo Kojima is known for his sneaky surprises. This time on Twitter he reveals a special melody that is played in the kitchen tanker from MGS 2.

I've seen videos of people playing songs like "Mary Had a Little Lamb" on those things. Hell, that old G4 show Cinematech showed a video of someone doing that. Did Kojima really think people wouldn't discover that?

I think it was cut at the writing level, where Kojima originally intended to direct such a scene, but never had the chance to do so due to the incident. I don't think there's a footage somewhere containing that said scene, as it never happened.

Yeah, you're right. There's no actual footage except for that video of Karen Hojo reporting about the statue of liberty having been hit or something. And that one video contained real-world footage too.

still having a nightmare with MGS4 credit roll after i plated this game and have to watch it 8 times without option to skip, damn you kojima

Yeah they did have a different tone for each pan. I didn't consider this to be an easter egg though. I just thought it was cool and unintentional! This is REALLY cool to find out years later.

Plus, all this "2 hours long" crap, go boot up the HD collection and speed run the tanker and tell me how long it is in terms if story. I bet I could breeze the Tanker in 30-45 minutes easy.

But being the fanbase that we are, we explore the area we are given, shake down all the guards for tags and just generally f*ck around to see what fun we can have.

I bet I'll turn that Ground Zeroes "2 hours" into at least 8.

I totally agree with Welshy. There is no such thing as 1 playthrough in the Metal Gear series. I finished MGS4 15 times and I was discovering new things with each playthrough and that was a linear game.

I see your 8 Welshy and I raise you by 8 since I will be getting the japanese version as well. I couldn't careless about the price obviously. That $ doesn't justify the quality of the game. To me Metal Gear games are priceless.
