U.S. District Court Dismisses GTA Online Class Action Lawsuit

What a bummer. I was not bothered by the delay of the multi-player release but how broken it was when it launched. Is there a BF4 law suit going on as well? If these companies can continue to be allowed to release broken games, the way it is now it is only going to get worst. Or that is what history has shown us so far by looking at the start of the 360/PS3 era to the end of it.

The thing about it is they probably tried to aim to high with the court case. They can't be sued because of the disclaimers that warn you that you may or may not be able to get online and stated when online would launch. Because of that disclaimer, it's assumed that you read it and already know what to expect.

And odds are, they tried to bite off way more than they can chew. They should have just asked for refunds, which Take Two would have probably complied with to not waste more money on a federal suit.

I'm curious to see what they were suing TakeTwo for. They must have been asking for a lot if TT was willing to go to a federal court.

It's where the plaintiffs filed their claim. Take two had no choice in the matter.

are kidding me?
you would rather they delay a game for how ever long instead of releasing then updating later ?
I know you're not saying you want them to not advertise a major feature just because its not ready day one? thats completely irrational thinking ... and I hope you're not implying they some how advance years in technology and develop these incredibly detailed games in the same amount of time it took to make old ps2/ ps1 era games.Because not only would that be irrational thinking, that would be dumb.

You have no clue what a broken game is because we have been getting broken games since before NES. A game without an advertised feature day one doesn't make a game unfinished or broken.Try to learn something about game development before you start trying to deprecate game developers. These "broken" games are more complete and unbroken than any game prior to last gen.

Your funny,

"You have no clue what a broken game is because we have been getting broken games since before NES. A game without an advertised feature day one doesn't make a game unfinished or broken.Try to learn something about game development before you start trying to deprecate game developers. These "broken" games are more complete and unbroken than any game prior to last gen."

As a consumer when I buy a game and take it home and it doesn't work, it is broken. Skyrim and BF4 are good game examples. When something you recently purchased doesn't work as intended. Do you sit there twiddling your thumbs and wait for a fix? No, then why should games be treated differently.

GTAO was broken at launch because when you play a game and continuously create new characters because yours keeps being lost/unrecoverable/corrupt as well as millions of other people, means the game is not working as designed/intended, unless that is what you call playing the game?

"you would rather they delay a game for how ever long instead of releasing then updating later?"

I'm not against patching but you have to draw the line somewhere. I was fine with them not releasing GTA Online at launch because we all knew it wasn't ready, and everyone bought it for single player at launch. When they finally did, they should have had it in better shape or delay it for another few weeks. I would actually like fines given out to publishers that would protect us consumers in extreme/major cases like those and give us some better quality control.

Dee_913736d ago

yea whats even funnier is the fact that your trying to say that an object with a defect is the same thing as a game with a bugged feature.. that is very funny.Kind of bring me back to my original point about you not knowing anything about game development..
So you want them to get fined because they didn't delay a bugged feature, a feature that needed to be tested by the consumers you are trying so hard to "protect" to make that feature actually better and less buggy? yes I am very funny /s
Hows about next time you just wait a year after a game comes out when everything is fixed.

SoulMikeY3737d ago

Whoever tried to sue is a complete moron. Online isn't even a factor when most people bought the game.

Gazondaily3737d ago

Exactly. The review scores for the game said it all. The levels some people go to...ridiculous. Silly litigation culture. Ah well...it keeps me in business I guess lol.

ziggurcat3737d ago

really? people actually sued over that?

*feacepalm*

gamers really need to learn to keep their first world problems to themselves, and not waste the court's/taxpayers' time/money.

KonsoruMasuta3737d ago

They also wasted their own time and money.

ziggurcat3736d ago

belated edit:

feacepalm? wow... i should stop posting from my phone...

at any rate, i'm glad such a frivolous lawsuit got thrown out of court.

sungam3d3737d ago

LOL! What a bunch of lamers.
Oh no, we have to wait 2 weeks! Lets sue them all!

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing692d ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

Profchaos2d ago

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Demetrius1d 17h ago

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

andy852d ago

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

Demetrius1d 17h ago

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all

Ex-Rockstar Dev Finally Explains Why Small Planes Randomly Crashed in GTA San Andreas

Former Rockstar Games Technical Director Obbe Vermeij has finally revealed why some planes would randomly crash in GTA: San Andreas.

Profchaos19d ago

This fly by feature was on the cutting room floor due to the random plane crashes and it's one of those things I'm so thankful made it into the final version as these random fly by and crashes make the world seem more alive on the extremely limited PS2 hardware you needed everything you could possibly get in a open world to convey that feeling.

And accross hundreds of hours of gameplay I probably died around 3 times as a result of these fly by failures but I loved every time it happened

isarai19d ago (Edited 19d ago )

It made the world feel more human, and honestly kinda insane that even today with all these open world games, almost no one can capture that like R* even when compared to their ps2 games

Skuletor18d ago

Lol, I remember those. I vaguely remember dying from one crashing into my car once too.
