What do you even mean by that? Sales wise (well duh this is a sales article), I mean it was already confirmed as the best selling console thus far for a launch. And in comparison to the PS2, which did 10 Million it's first whole year on the market globally, the PS4 is already at the half way point with 10 months to go and no Japan release yet either.

If you mean in terms of dominance, well does lead 1.5 Million globally to, with MS dominant markets no longer being their dominant in terms of competition.

Not trying to say X console is better than X, just looking at the sales given, but yea I do have to say that the PS4 does indeed have a "PS2" feel in terms of whats coming out in the coming months and the momentum it has.

What is interesting is the difference in total sales numbers of games on the PS4. Most 3rd party games on the xbox one have sold better than the PS4 and the exclusives are selling better on the xbox one too.

Still rather than say one is better than the other we need to say well done Sony and Microsoft as both are selling well and come on Nintendo start showing off the WiiU and lets see good sales on all 3.

Actually took me a second to notice that it was listed by week sales not by lifetime... So the second number is what you want to look at. Only BF4 and COD have sold more on xbox 1 than ps4 of the third party releases. BF4 is the one that surprises me. The exclusives obviously will only sell on their respective consoles. It looks like Killzone is only listed for paying members.

All I'm going to say is ps4 had a week head start over the XB1 and the gap is now less than 130k with Titanfall releasing in March. Add in refunds and this gap might be closed by May. Worldwide, ps4 will own, but in the USA, where I game, XB1 will reign supreme. Especially holiday season 2014, no ps4 game will be able to match up with Halo. PS4 is definitely selling the best, no denial there, but I think it has more to do with anti MSFT. People bought the console, but didn't buy games, look at those software sales. I also predict scalpers make up a ton of ps4 sales.

Every store i went too, Best buy,Gamestop,Radioshack,Wal-Ma rt,Target, There's XboxOne's EVERYWHERE, Even the day one edition. These XboxOne systems aren't selling for S%#*. It's so bad even local SWAP-MEETS are trying to get rid of them. PS4 systems on the other hand are nowhere to be found, and if there are some ps4's available, it's selling for more than $450. what took the Wii U a year and a half to achieve is almost achieved by both the X1 and PS4. PS4 is just a shy 1 Million of the world wide sales for Wii U. And Basically next week we are looking at the PS4 outselling the Wii U in the states.

If you remove Japan from the Wii U Equation, we are looking at roughly 4 Million (sold 1.5 in Japan). So in a sense, yes, the PS4 and almost X1 have sold mroe than the Wii U in nearly every place but Japan (since neither PS4 or X1 are out in Japan)

These numbers are more than a week old and fresh shipments of the PS4 went out last week. The gap will already have been reduced to 700,000 (prior to the shipments) and the new shipments will boost the PS4s sales beyond what we see today. I'd say around another 150,000 caught up which puts it at 500,500 behind.

By the time the PS4 launches in Feb 22nd, it will be very close in sales to the Wiiu, or even ahead, depending on whether Driveclub releases and how many PS4 shipements Sony allotted to Japan. Thief and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn also release this month along with new Indie titles.

We also had a games drought recently and I'm sure Tombraider will help give both the X1 and the PS4 a slight boost. By March 1st the PS4 will have outsold the Wiiu easily. My the end of March it will have a million+ lead over the Wiiu and around a 3 million lead over the X1.

Xbox One and ps4 console sales have slowed down a bit because of supply problems and lack of compelling software, but that will change soon. What is troubling is two consoles a hundred and two hundred dollars more expensive than the WiiU are on the verge of outpacing it. Nintendo needs a price drop.
While, you no doubt, love your console, Nintendo has clearly lost 3rd party support and, because of muddled advertising, the casual market that ate up the Wii. The best analogy I've read is instead of anticipating where the puck will be, Nintendo is bent on dictating where the puck will go. It worked wonders with the Wii, but, they have not repeated that success with the WiiU.
Nintendo is not going to die, but they really need to rethink their strategy if they want to regain top dog status.

Looking for the wii fit u data... almost nothing. Wii sports club is the same and I though 3d Mario was going to sell like a 3d mario. Mario kart 8 and smash are all I can see doing huge numbers if that doesn't work it may be time for a Nintendo Killzone or halo fest fps or buy enix.

It is hard to to tell yet we aren't seeing a ps3 like movement yet. The fast sales are impressive for hype reasons yet we will see what the true demand is for ps4 in the future.... it is kinda artificially high right now There are no games pushing those numbers. The reasons for why it is selling if board line faddish at best. Sony can't even get its laptops to sell like the ps4. I looked at a 4k sony today but was won over by an LG...

There seems to be a rebellion against getting a wiiu due to marketing. Marketing is the main reason the wii sold yet once you got it at least 20 million gamers where out buying games. The marios did crazy numbers, mk smash even dk did crazy numbers. While wii fit and sports resort play all did incredible numbers.

A thesis on marketing needs to be done on this like how a book was written about sony after their troubles. Even none bias media put down the reveal of the wiiu, yet apple is still going strong.

The ps2 was king because it meant you got to keep more of your money. It has always been about making more money.

The holiday shopping basically start on November, and there were TWO big things that came out that month. If the Wii U to you was impressive at 2M sold from November-January 1st, then I can't imagine what you would say about the Xbone and PS4. Knack and Killzone are the games. Now is the announcement which brings PS3 games to your smart phone among other non-gaming devices and includes a subscription TV service. Sony is shifting focus away from consoles so they can sell more TVs, tablets, PC's and smartphones. They are also pushing media faster and harder than anyone as they look to compete toe to toe with cable companies.

Sony has marketed the PS4 as a games first device while doing everything but bring games to it.

Both new consoles are going through the post launch lull. It happens with every console. You have a bevy of launch games and then the wait for the next great game. They are coming. You have Second Son for the ps4 and Titanfall for the Xbox One.

I would agree with you on Sony trying to sell more peripheral hardware if they had locked Playstation Now to only Sony hardware, but it'll work on any device. So they aren't pushing Sony TVs, tablets, PCs and smartphones, they are trying to make their service available to as wide an audience as possible.

Sony taking on cable companies? From what I've read, they're trying to offer they're own version of the Xbox One's TV service.

Death has a point. Main articles have been written on how bad the ps4 lunch games are. The reviews are just as bad. The hype is wearing thin. The fans have spoken yet you have to ask will there be enough to stay ahead.

Went to a store today and no PS4 in stock and saw a bunch of XB1 (Around 40-50) sitting of the shelve. I think I made the correct decision to went with the PS4. Sony will reclaim America once supply is readily available.

$100 more for a weaker system and Kinect still just a glorified voice controller, what is there to think about, PS4 all the way.

150,000 less Xbox Ones according to fakechartz and Xbox One owners bought 750,000 more games. Less consoles selling more game.

At the end of the day if you like Sony exclusives more, you made the right choice. If you are new to consoles and picked up the hardware leader that has a user base with less reasons to buy games this far, I'm not sure you made the "right" choice.

Sony has a passion for selling TV's. From the start, Sony fought against the Playstation. Sony offering to stream games via Now across their various brands will fragment their userbase. Casual gamers will have less reason to buy a console when they can stream them to their 2014 Sony Bravias and Blu-ray players.

As far as Americans go, it looks like they are split between the two platforms to this point. I would imagine people buy the console with the games they want to play. Killzone and Knack weren't the best games to launch with and offered little reason to switch to a Sony platform.

Idiots buy these consoles for their launch libraries. It's hundreds of dollars worth of hardware you'll be using for the next 5+ years; only an idiot would make the decision based on launch games, and only an idiot would keep using that as justification.

Sony has a passion for gaming, which is why they have developed the ability to stream their games to their various devices. Even so, the best way to play those games will be on Sony consoles. The MOST games will be on Sony consoles(speaking specifically of the streaming aspect, lest you get some weird ideas in your head). The premier gaming experience will be on Sony consoles. Sony keeping the casuals buying their hardware is a bad thing? In this era of tablets and mobile phones, casuals aren't likely to get a console anyway; might as well keep them buying your other products, if what they want is games.

As for people switching to Sony consoles, most folks who switched did that before launch lineups were even revealed. They made that decision based on the differing policies between Sony and Microsoft. Or based on the pedigree of the developer stables. Or both.

Again: only an idiot would have based their choice off the handful of games exclusive to the two systems in the first two to three months.

Hey, why don't we talk about marketshare like you love to do? Why not mention how Xbox has lost HALF its marketshare to the PS4? Or is it 2/3? I don't remember whether the 360 outsold the PS3 3:1 or 2:1, but in either case, it's not doing that now. That's gotta be considered a loss for Microsoft, who spent BILLIONS marketing their device in the last gen to gain all that marketshare in the largest market, the only one that counts according to Xbox fanboys.

Marketshare is divided between the WiiU, PS4 and Xbox One. Currently we have seen announcements of 5.86 million for the WiiU, 4.2 million PS4's and 3.0 million Xbox Ones. We need more time to determine the overall impact each console will have on this generation.

Last gen sales in millions is 100/80/80 for the Wii, PS3 and Xbox.

I'm not sure I would label someone an idiot for choosing the console that has more games they want to play at launch. Look at software sales and you will see more Xbox Owners are buying more software to play on their console then PS4 owners. If PS4 owners didn't buy consoles for the games, why did they buy one at all? As both libraries improve, retail prices will drop. I wouldn't call someone an idiot for paying a premium price and then waiting to justify the purchase later when prices dropped, they would simply be early adopters or passionate gamers.

Only an idiot would call people with a different opinion than theirs an idiot. A PS4 at this time for me isn't a wise investment. As more games come out that I want to play, I'm sure I will have one. Right now, even at it's higher pricepoint the Xbox One has more games that interest me. That is why I bought one first. If that makes me an idiot, I'm ok with that.

Apparently, some people forget last week when MS was crowing about outselling the PS4 in the US for the month of December. Now, for the second week of January, the PS4 is outselling the XBO in the US on a weekly and to date basis. So, the PS4, which is supply limited, is still outshipping and outselling the XBO. This Xbox fanbois fools game lasts for a few more weeks, then the XBO is obliterated. By E3, the interest in market sales numbers will be greatly reduced in the puke green camp.

Xbone logic

PS4 is beating the Xbone worldwide and is the cumulative leader in the US. PS4 was out of stock on December and xbone sold more only on the US that month.

Out of stock would be selling zero consoles for the month. Sony sold through the amount they allocated for the month. That was a choice Sony made.

Microsoft fans aren't the ones screaming a return to domination. We are the ones listening to the 8 year olds constantly calling us stupid for buying a console that doesn't say Playstation on it. Don't waste your time man. No matter what you say or how well you present your opinion, the same fanboys will disagree and attack.

Over the summer and last year before these consoles launched, these same fanboys ALWAYS said; "We play games, not sales" even though their software numbers were less than MS. Now, since PS4 is selling more units then X1, all they are talking about is sales.

It's complete hypocrisy. The fact that any person passionately cares about how many sales the PS4 or the X1 has compared to the other is baffling. They try and give out the same story "I care about the market" or "I care about the industry". Really? If that were the case the argument should be are Sony and MS meeting their projected numbers. The answer is yes, both companies are EXCEEDING their projected numbers.

It's some imaginary "war" that pre-teen and teenaged nerds live for, it's sad. At the end of the day, a PS4 is still going to give you the same experience whether or not it is selling more or less than the competition. The only thing "fanboys" should care about is whether the company they support is meeting company goals so they stay in business and thrive.

Death, wait till 2-3 years if the X1 is outselling Sony in America, then we will hear "that's MS turf" or "America isn't the world!". It is the same hashed and rehashed arguments year after year. You're wasting your time trying to provide any logic to these people who are apparently insecure or afraid that you and I and millions of others bought a X1. Apparently, my gaming hobby, with my time and my money is of extreme importance and concern for them.

After the DRM fiasco, the tv tv tv talk, the casual focus BS, +100 dolar, Dom Mattric, The Resolution Gate, 50% less powerful BS, and all bad press from media outlets, X1 is doing VERY. WELL, in my book. ^ ^

Sony' s leading the console market right now, and i'm okay with that too. ^ ^

After all, they deserve praise and respect from us X1 fans. Sony and their pro gamers aproach, made MS reverse their politics. Reason alone that made X1 compeling for me.

Sony will lead this gen as long they can deliver games. MS's software sales are good, and they are working on more quality exclusives and hiring good talent.

2014 is gonna be a good year for REAL gamers.

I've got an X1, some great launch titles, have been very entertained, and even if Microsoft doesn't sell a single other console, I still got millions of other people to game with. I won the "console war", and so did the individual that bought a ps4 and is satisfied with their purchase.

I think it's funny how one week they present it as global one week and the next as U.S only. I expect XBox One to eventually overtake the U.S while the PS4 claims things globally, very similar to the last gen. The only difference this time is the XOne will be less dominant in the U.S and the PS4 will be more dominant globally. The U.S is MS territory so obviously they will get the lead.
