Diving Deep Into The Add-On Content Of "Dead Rising 3"

Xbox Wire:

If there's one thing that you can be sure of, it's that Xbox One owners absolutely love killing zombies. Since the game launched last November, “Dead Rising 3” players have killed more than 16 billion zombies – more than twice the world population of people – and have logged more than 14 million hours of gameplay. As if there wasn't already enough to do in "Dead Rising 3," this week will see the release of "Operation Broken Eagle," the first episode in the game's "Untold Stories of Los Perdidos" add-on content series. We took a break from hunting down blueprints and mowing down the undead to chat with Executive Producer Josh Bridge about both the add-on content and the title update that goes along with it.

i could have sworn i already had that "impulse trigger support" in the right trigger when i was shooting a gun and it was close to empty

So the changelist says improved performance. I wish they could achieve 1080p also.

So other than the DLC there is just a few tweaks going on? Why such a large update? Cant you download the DLC after you purchase it?

Eldyraen3742d ago (Edited 3742d ago )

I don't really understand the file size either. The only way I can see it being feasible if its the DLC being installed (all four possibly as 13 gigs is huge) and since most of the content sounds to be singleplayer not sure why it's forced (if that's the case).

Even if you can use new weapons/vehicles/etc in coop they should had just made a "coop pack" in the update which only contains necessary files for those that don't plan on getting the dlc which I would assume wouldn't be so huge of a file. That or vehicles, clothes, etc are really high res as it can add up quick and are simply a ton of them. If however there is legitimately 13gb worth of patches/content related to the core game I'm just curious what all it entails.

Maybe the performance boost is due to decreasing textures so had to replace them all ;) Unlikely but makes as much sense as a 13gb update.

I've been thinking about starting a new game of DR3 though recently but think I will just wait for first dlc now as won't be long at all. I hope its fun and curious how all the dlc plays out.

I like the idea of seeing things from a different light. Since we're playing as military this time wonder if we get to be a member of the other survivor group, bikers, etc later...

I understand the file size.

Weapons Blueprints: 100 out of 210
Vehicle Blueprints: 10 out of 20

So that's just a few reasons for the increase. New map locations, characters, voice overs, animations, trash vehicles, random items, etc....

I was planning on buying the DLC for this game but if its good i might give it a shot.
I tried the xboxie.com website and its cool, you can never have too many games.
can someone tell me the difference with the 24,30 and 36 bit color setting on the xbox one t.v settings?

13Gb...?
Is that some kind of joke?

What Happened To The Dead Rising Series?

Over the last week, Jake has been going back to the Dead Rising 2 Off The Record remaster and has been an absolute blast. When he was 15 he first got his Xbox 360 and Dead Rising with it, it was unlike any other experience. It made him wonder though, what happened to the Dead Rising series.

Interesting timing. This retrospective was released just a few days ago: https://youtu.be/Et-cKSrWuc...

Darksonic221354d ago

Ah no, I just felt like writing it as I started playing the game again and wanted to offer up my opinions 😁

InklingGirl1353d ago

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the title.

MadLad1354d ago

Complacency and new teams who didn't understand what made the series special.

Darksonic221354d ago

Seems like there was just a ton of infighting aswell and so many more issues. Honestly sadly Dead Rising 5 before it was cancelled sounded nothing like dead rising, nothing learnt from. Dr4 at all.

ColdSin1353d ago

DR4 should have not been made anyways. DR3 closed everything nicely.

Check out the vid i posted above.

MadLad1353d ago

They're a solid channel. I always click on their vids, unless it's a series/game I simply have no interest in.

RamRod881354d ago

They took away the depth and charm of the game that made it fun and interesting, and made it into a generic zombie killing game.

DeadManMMX1354d ago

This was the series the got me to buy an Xbox 360. The first one was so good. It still had horror elements. As it went on it became kind of a parody. Never forget getting Zombie Genecider achievement and then restarting the game to get the Mega Buster. That thing was monstrous against enemies.

Gamerking821353d ago

But you never know it might be RISING again someday .

haha yes it may....good one.

The Decade's Bizarre and Quirky Gaming News

VGChartz's Patrick Day-Childs: "2020 is upon us! The past decade has had some downs, like the influx of monetisation within full games, Blizzard's community backlash and EA winning the worst company in America award twice, but also some ups, like the leaps in understanding gaming from more mainstream companies to wholesome news like gamers helping preserve a controller signed by someone’s deceased mum.

The decade has also been the highlight of some… bizarre news, and I decided collect together some of the more obscure and quirky stories to make you giggle or question what the hell happened this decade."
