It’s about time, right? Instead of letting the rest of the internet tell us what we like, let’s tell them.
Below are the categories we, the staff, have decided on for this year. At this stage we are accepting your nominations in these categories*. Once we refine all the nominations we will post again with information on voting. At this point there's no limit to nominations, so no pressure to decide your votes just now - nominate whatever you like!
Please comment below with the category and nomination(s) for that category. There’s no limit to your nominations, but we can't promise that every nomination will be used in the final poll.
- Keep nominations to games/studios/events/similar of calendar year 2013.
- HD remakes will not be included in nominations
- I’ve included some explanation/examples where I thought it helpful
- Nominations will no longer be considered for inclusion after 11:59 PM Monday, January 13, 2014.
****CONTEST ELEMENT****
If you submit (it may take multiple comments, so I'll make sure you have enough bubbles!) a nomination(s) in EVERY category you will be entered to win a $50 Amazon gift card (US, UK or CA). Deadline is 11:59 PM EST, January 13, 2014. Nominations must be valid (ex: no writing "TLOU" for every category).
***********************
*WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR CATEGORY SUGGESTIONS RIGHT NOW. If you have an idea for a category be patient! After the inaugural voting I will have a survey and you will be able to submit your category suggestions for future years.

2013 N4G GOTY Categories
1. Best New Studio
Studio with their first ever game released in 2013.
2. Best New IP
3. Best New Video Game Character
4. Game with Best Innovation
Moving a genre forward in either big ways that challenge conventional thinking or through subtle, nuanced techniques to a standard visual/gameplay/storytelling formula is what this selection is all about. These games have done that to varying degrees of success. How successful it's been implemented should be of less importance in comparison to the idea that simply captivates you the most.
5. Gaming News Story of the Year
From Sony's no DRM announcement to kids smack talking during a CoD tournament, to PAX performances or an Operation Supply Drop wow-moment, what RL gaming moments wowed you this year?
6. Best In-Game Moment
7. Most Replayable Game
8. Sequel Fail
The worst sequels. So bad they make you think about hating the previous game for ever letting this happen. 2013 release.

Duuro says: "I think the idea behind the movement is cool, but on the other hand, the execution and clear limitation of the platform somewhat undermine the whole thing."
"The Wakefield-based (the UK) indie games publisher and developer Team 17 and indie games developer Ernestas Norvaišas, are today very proud and excited to announce that the full version (v1.0) of their train-led city builder “Sweet Transit”, is now available for PC via Steam and EGS." - Jonas Ek, TGG.
