Square Enix just announced that a free login weekend will be held on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, allowing former subscribers to experience the new features and content added to Eorzea with patch 2.1.
Today, during a pane at PAX East, Square Enix announced the release date of the next expansion Dawntrail, on top of the editions and more.
The MMORPG will arrive on Xbox consoles on 21st March following its open beta, with Square Enix releasing further details on the launch in a new Lodestone blog post.
Not only is Game Pass required to play the game in full, but FFXIV Coins will be required to make purchases - a new currency not used on PC or PlayStation.
What's even the point if they're doing everything possible to convince people NOT to play?
Bad idea. Kind of at the point its almost like a repeat of FFXI on the 360 with it requiring Gold to play.
Greed greed nothing but greed. Anyone who willingly plays 14 on Xbox is a bona fide sucker.
Kotaku writes: "That’s thanks to a series of announcements from Square Enix about exclusive features and play requirements, the latest being a new currency called FFXIV Coins."
NOTE FOR QUICK READERS/GLANCERS: THIS IS NOT GOING FREE TO PLAY. AND YOU NEED TO ALREADY HAVE BOUGHT THE GAME TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS. THIS IS NOT A TRIAL.
I think this is a great idea. I hope they do this every time a new patch comes out. To anyone who needs a quick briefing of what's new:
Pre-level 50:
Duty Roulette (good xp)
More dungeon XP overall
Beast tribe quests
Some new quests
Level 50:
9 new fights
-3 Dungeons: Pharos Sirius, Copperbell Mines (hard), Haukke Manor (hard)
-3 Extreme Mode Primals (Titan, Ifrit, Garuda)
-Ultima Fight (hard mode)
-King Moggle Mog fight
-Labrynth of the Ancients (The Crystal Tower) 24 Man Raid.
Also, PvP has been released and the Warrior job has gotten some buffs/design changes.
Imagine the 'former subscriber' club is pretty sizeable.
Nice gesture regardless I suppose.
I came here to decide if I would log in again just to see the world one more time before a final farewell, but I remembered that I already uninstalled it and I won't bother to download it all again.
Was gonna wait till the ps4 version was released before I jump back in, but I guess I know what im doing now this weekend!
Patch 2.1 is awesome!
First thing you should do is go to Mor Dhona and pick up all quests you see there.
Moogle Battle is unlocked by doing story quest, which is started in Waking Sands (Vesper Bay)
