cus i think when they ported one of the early games back in the day they put it a number higher or something, i remember reading about something similar long ago

@pedrof93 In 1997, Koei released a fighting game called Sangoku Musou in Japan, which was called Dynasty Warriors in the West.

Then, in 2000, they released a spin-off called Shin Sangoku Musou, which was translated as Dynasty Warriors 2 in the West. Shin Sangoku Musou 2 was then called Dynasty Warriors 3, Shin Sangoku Musou 3 was called Dynasty Warriors 4, etc...

It's all because Japan considered Shin Sangoku Musou as a spin-off for Sangoku Musou, while US and Europe considered Dynasty Warriors 2 as a sequel of Dynasty Warriors.
