Lazlow from Rockstar Games "Confirms" Next Gen Ports of GTAV

If you were like many of gamers out there, you traded or sold your PS3 or Xbox360 to bankroll your entrance into the Next Gen console of your choice , thus causing you to miss out on the massive epic that is GTAV.

Well have no fear, because Lazlow from Rockstar Games spoke during an interview on Opie & Anthony’s SiriusXM program revealing in not so many words that they are indeed working on Next Gen ports of GTAV. He doesn’t come out and say it, but use your detective skills & read between the lines.

Yep, switched back to gaming on my PC and Xbox 360 after about 3 weeks. So it's been awhile since my PS4 was fired up so I had a nice build up of dust on it when I installed my new TV stand.

Any who my living room stays clean but it's carpeted, with my sectional and a crap load of pillows making my black electronics become dust magnets. But hell that launch lineup was pretty weak for games I wanted to play. Only purchased Need for Speed and Madden 25 with a couple of free arcade titles. Please I don't need some idiot listing games they think I might like, I know the lineup, either I have it on my PC, or games just don't care about.

If you want to talk about games I have over 60 installed on my 3 hard drives for my PC, an about 8 left for my X360, so I have plenty of money to buy the content I want.

Its simple, all of our bills come up to $2143 leaving us with over $3000 a month in spending cash out of $5200. Our paychecks would obviously be higher but we both chose to have $276 taken out every two weeks for retirement. Again this number will change since I get $1.26 pay increase every 6 months until I hit top pay in my union.

I did PC repairs for a contract company called Teksystem awhile ago. Only paid me $17 an hour with no benefits. The Majority of PC repair jobs in between Chicago and Milwaukee typically pays between $12-19 and hour. I also build and repair PCs but the flow of income is not steady for me to make that my full time job.

I don't know about your region but unless you're doing PC repairs as a business I doubt you make over $1300 every couple of days after taxes, insurance, and retirement. So with over $3000 in spending cash after all bills and taxes, retirement, and union fees I think buying a $60 game would be pretty easy. For me I don't see nothing I don't own already on various platforms to spend another $60 on my PS4 at this point in time.

Next year will probably change but for now its collecting dust while my PC takes care of my gaming needs. Overall I'm just not feeling this new generation yet, the Wii U "Meh" XB1 "Hmm" PS4 "Ok I got but now what?"

@ZombieKiller, I have. The online is the worst thing about the game. If we want to play deathmatch, there are countless other games that do it better. Racing? Plenty of dedicated racing games do it better. Missions? The missions are awful. There's literally no compelling reason to play it other than drive around ganking people. Oh wow, buy property that serves no real purpose! Fun. Red Dead Redemption's online was far better (but even it got old fast).

Its very greedy that these companies make you pay to upgrade. It should be you put the disk in and the console will detect it and will download a digital version but you can only play with the disk in to access the digital version.

If you buy a games on PS3 than you should be able to play it for free on PS4 without paying. Just like how you buy a game on Steam you can play it on any OS it supports or on any computer as long as you have Steam installed with your account logged in.

Keep in mind Anthony from Opie&Anthony has been in the GTA series since GTA Liberty City Stories. He sings the pisswasser commercial in GTA and plays a character in Trevor story. He and Lazlow are close, like hang out at each other houses close, so when he's on the show, things tend to get revealed.

I would most certainly re-purchase it on the PS4 or XboxOne. The amount of fun my crew and I have on GTA Online alone is worth it. Also, Rockstar has confirmed they are going to continue the storyline of the single player characters, so that would be an even more reason to purchase it on the new consoles.

The Share button on PS4 alone makes it worth it for me. This type of huge, detailed, streamlined open world game is also tailor made for the type of system architecture it has. As good as it runs on older hardware, it would just be immaculate if they barely even tried.

I've been digging around online and all hints point towards a March release. That's when a PC version is supposed to launch, so Next Gen consoles should be around that time. Also, Lazlow also stated on a previous Opie & Anthony that there would be a PC version 6-9 months AFTER the PS3/360 launch so that they could make some money before PC pirated it to shit.

I just honestly have no fricking clue why Rockstar doesnt come out and say "we are making a port for these consoles ... ... ... on ... ... ... or not even a date, just verify if its coming. At this point, since its already been released and IT SOLD AMAZINGLY, announcing this info cannot cause any harm to them. I just dont understand, if it is being ported they need to do it asap the longer they wait and further into 2014 the less sales they will get. 2014 has some great multiplats as well as exclusives for X1 coming (i am only speaking for X1 because i really dont know what 2014 is bringing for PS4). Can't count how many times I did something awesome in GTA V and not being able to show anybody else. I would probably leave it a few months for the price to come down a little though.

- "Nobody owned them yet" = We'll do it when there's a large enough install base for next gen.

- "Every video game developer has games in progress for those (Next-Gen) consoles" = We are working on next gen titles.

- "We had those consoles, THEY send those consoles to videogame developers years before they are out" = We've been working on next gen titles for a while now.

- [On GTA V] "We haven't announced anything, I hope it comes out on you know the next gen" and "No I'm having a seizure" = Obviously knows more than he's divulging but indirectly confirming it's in development.

If it wasn't being made the guy would flat out say no. Why so many political answers? Because Rockstar aren't ready to announce it's coming officially yet but can hint to it (More than they have before) which means we can expect something soon.

the interviewer asked him if he was winking at him while he was answering the question, and lazlow said he was having a "seizure" in a playful manner, so, to me, that's pretty indicative that he knows something but just doesn't/can't come out openly and say it because he knows he would be violating confidential agreements with rockstar.

and think about it people, they're definitely going to release gta v for next gen consoles. theres evidence for that. a modder recently discovered this while rummaging through the visuasettings.dat file in the ps3 version of the game...

and in october, a rockstar graphics programmer mentioned on her CV that they were currently in the process of working on the "next version of a famous IP".....the use of version strongly connotes that its something they're remaking. the listing was quickly removed after the net started buzzing about it being ng gta v. and there is more evidence, just look for it.

think of gta v the same way you would AC4, BF4, Watch Dogs, etc....all of which are cross-gen titles. and that's exactly what gta v will end up being, its just that rockstar has a different business strategy. had they announced all versions at the same time, PC/NG/PS3/360, the game would have sold nowhere near what it did at launch. but if they release first on the ps3/360, and then PC/NG a few months later, they benefit greatly.

I'm sure they could get away with a simple 1-1 port with a higher resolution, but if they add some new stuff and graphical enhancements it'll be really great.

they are adding new graphical enhancements, and the next gen port is based on the PC version, which according the bug report/dev file discovered a few months ago, will have dx11, x64 support, adaptive depth of field, hd textures and a host of other major upgrades. here's some proof recently discovered in the visualsetting.dat file in the ps3 disc

I like the thought of game companies re-releasing games on next-gen. I think it would be cool (and honestly make sense) for them to release some of the higher-end PC versions of games on next-gen like Crysis 1, 2, and 3...Metro 2033 and Last Light, etc. I mean, the power is there, they could max the games out (or come close) and really breath new life into older games that still look and play great.

Only issue so far with this that we've seen is price. Like with the Tomb Raider coming on on next-gen...they want $60 for that. That's WAYYY too much considering how long it's been out and how many people have already played it. $60 for a game that's $20 on the 360/PS3 just because of some prettier graphics is absolutely absurd. Should be $20-30 MAX.

Either way, I doubt it'll happen (just as it didn't for the previous console generations) but with the x86 architecture and typical GPU architecture I certainly see it being easier and more cost effective to do than ever before.

I can understand selling or trading in your old consoles well after you get the new ones, but to trade them in FOR those new ones? That doesn't make sense to me at all... you risk losing way more money than you will gain, since so many of those games are $40-$60 and your console is not nearly as valuable as it used to be.

Just seems like a waste to me... Especially since you're locking yourself in for disappointment for at least a few months when you run out of games to play on the new consoles. If backwards compatibility were a thing, this wouldn't be an issue... but alas, we don't live in that day and age where backwards compatibility is a given :\

I've always thought they'd reveal the PC version once they revealed the next-gen versions as it's just too big of a game to go out that late in a console cycle and be sorta forgotten about once games started coming out for next-gen. I'll def buy PC or a next-gen version for sure. I'm sure a lot of people would actually.
