Michael Larabel: A comprehensive performance comparison is underway at Phoronix that pits SteamOS against other desktop Linux distributions, but for those anxious to see some performance numbers, here are benchmarks done so far this weekend from seven NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards on the public SteamOS 1.0 Beta operating system. In this article are early benchmarks from seven NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards running Valve's Debian Linux based SteamOS on an Intel Haswell system.
Players can pay to edit their character, resurrect the dead and other actions.
Yet Helldivers 2 gets a pass? Y’know a GotY contender by the name of RE4 had them and so does Devil May Cry V. The funny thing is I enjoyed both of those games thoroughly without having to buy a single microtransaction.
What I do consider a valid complaint is not being able to start a new game or being able to edit your character. That’s kind of a seriously baffling decision, but then I think how I played Dragon’s Dogma 1 and I never edited my character and I just did a 100% playthrough on a single file and didn’t start a NG since. So, I don’t think these are really going to impact me, but I can see how it will others.
I was going to pay full price to support this game because I've been waiting for it for forever but I think I'll wait until I get it for free from Epic or a Humblebundle monthly.
I am not defending Capcom, as I am not a fan of MTX in single player games. I do however belive they were open to reviewers about having MTX in their game. The reviewers just decided to leave that part out. Which is very disingenuous. There are some companies that get away with these things. Image if this was done by EA, Ubisoft, or even Activision? I am positive those defending Capcom, would have had their pitchforks ready if the companies listed above did this
The Hogwarts Legacy video game is on sale for the lowest price yet. You can get the Standard Edition on Steam for $29.99 down from $59.99 (that's $30 off). And, the Digital Deluxe Edition can be picked up for just $59.99, which is $59.99 off its usual price of $119.98.
50% is about as far as I made it through the game too. It started so strong in and around the castle... $30 feels about right though
It's like they are pushing us away from gaming on consoles. The standard edition of this game is currently on sale on Xbox for $41.99, on PlayStation for $69.99 and on steam for $30.00. The PS store usually have sales on Tuesdays so hopefully, we will see the price being matched when the store gets updated.
The latest update overhauls certain aspects of the UX such as the process of adding Steam games in the cart without opening a separate page.
I was happy until the benchmarks did not have the OBVIOUS Benchmarks PC Gamers want.
SteamOS vs. Windows7 vs. Windows 8
That's all I want to see!
Same hardware same games just on these 3 Operating systems.
For refference, i looked around for some heaven 4.0 benchmarks on the titan and 780 ti cards.
780 TI
STEAM OS:
79.36
Windows 7:
77.7,72.8,75.3
Avg=75.1
5.4% performance gain in Steam OS
Titan
Steam OS:
74.76
Windows 7:
73.1,70.5,71.4
AVG=71.6
4.3% performance gain in Steam OS
Anyway, im not going to say that this comparison is wildly accurate, there is a difference in drivers and processors in the benchamarks, so on so forth. Also, gameplay performance has not always been directly comparable to Benchmark performance. But that is just a look at what ive found.
I want comparisons, probably Tomshardware will make an article soon.
