Ubisoft on 'Assassin's Creed' in Paris: Devs 'will have little margin for error'

Whether you're a consumer, developer, publisher or just plain fan of the Assassin's Creed franchise, one of the most enjoyable things to discuss is what would be a great time period and location for the next Assassin's Creed installment.

Earlier this year, Examiner.com spoke with the game director of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Ashraf Ismail and he thought it would be fun to see what the Assassin's Creed world would be like in Egypt. An intriguing setting that would be for a future iteration, and there are so many more.

Recently, Examiner.com had the chance to speak exclusively with Ubisoft North America President Laurent Detoc about what it would be like and why a development team has never tackled an open-world game that is set in Paris.

We've seen WAY too many games set in japan already, seriously give it a rest and let ubisoft keep going for originality.

MrSwankSinatra3788d ago

name me at least 10 notable titles that we've seen in japan this whole gen??

Gregard3788d ago (Edited 3788d ago )

@CrossingEden

MrSwankSinatra said NOTABLE titles! Not shovelware :P

There is only like a couple worthwhile titles in that list :/

R_aVe_N3788d ago

I think if they did a poll Japan would be at the top of the list honestly. That is the assassin's creed game I am waiting on.

Sevir3788d ago

I would get into AC if it did feudal Japan !

I think I would enjoy Paris but you would lose the ship aspect of the game that brings a new diversity to the game that we love.

But with feudal Japan? Between ninjas, ronin, samurai, the buildings and the beautiful landscape that could put black flag to shame... You can still have ships (changing attacking tactics of course). But you also have key moments like the Mongols invasion

MrTrololo3788d ago

We want an assassin creed game set either in Japan or China dammit. Is that so hard to ask ? Beside a game called Remember Me have a setting take place in Paris even though it not an open world game.

Mongolian assassin? Imagine trying to assassinate Ganges Khang. Lol good luck. Now THAT would be a challenge.

Gregard3788d ago

or not.... counter and then X/Square :P

The series needs a rest.

As much as i'm enjoying Black Flag.

Ubisoft's Recent Antics Have Me Fearful For The Sands of Time Remake

Hanzala from eXputer: "With Ubisoft's practices becoming increasingly anti-consumer lately, the destruction of The Sands of Time Remake looks almost inevitable."

Hey Ubi, here's a gun, don't shoot yourself in the foot.

*Ubi takes gun, aims at foot, empties clip*

At this point, only dummies have any hope left for Ubi-junk games.

Every industry has these issues

Some companies I’ve worked for were great and some were toxic as hell (UPS when I was a teenager was extremely toxic and I have heard it still is) It all starts at the top. They either hold people accountable , set standards and treat people with respect or the crap rolls downhill.
