The two following were such letdowns for me. :/
Modding keeps the game alive though.

DxTrixterz3783d ago (Edited 3783d ago )

morrowind overhaul + morrowind comes alive + tamriel rebuild = perfect game. God I love Morrowind soo much. It's truly the best rpg of all time.

levian3783d ago

Just bought Morrowind last week and got a few mods to make the graphics somewhat decent. Got constant crashes, so re-installed with no mods and still getting constant crashes.

Looks like I'm doomed to never playing it. Same with Stalker: SoC

Here's the list for anyone who wants to see the list but is not looking to trawl through an 11 page hitfarm.
I highly doubt the writer ranked them in order of which was best, but just in case they did, it's either this order, or reversed.

10. Fallout 3/NV
9. Baldur's Gate
8. Gothic/Gothic 2
7. Dark Souls
6. Mass Effect Series
5. Planetscape Torment
4. Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
3. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
2. Dragon Age: Origins
1. The Witcher/Witcher 2

@gamerheadlines, oh I understand effort went into it. I just feel that if people were interested in a mini review for these games, they would be better served by researching them individually. For those who have played most of these games, they're not interested in reading about all of them individually. Sorry if I offended you by doing what I did, but I think I speak for must of us here when we say we're tired of these websites who break their lists up 1 page per item.

gamerheadlines3783d ago

It's a bit unfair and disrespectful to call a 4000 word article a hitfarm I think. Actual work was put into the writing process.

And no, the order does not represent which one was best. If you would have taken the time to actually read the article, you would have seen that detail from the very first page.

"we're tired of these websites who break their lists up 1 page per item."

This

I believe WhatCulture had did a top 100 once and no one wanted to go through hundred pages. These websites need to incorporate a good slideshow tool into their site. It does gets tiresome constantly having to click to view content on the next page.

inmusicutrust3782d ago

I'm browsing on my phone and going through is very time consuming and troublesome, with his list I can quickly see and goto content that interests me. His hitfarm comment is a website formatting issue, not against you or the content of your article, he did go through the whole list himself after all. Good article from what I made it through on my phone, gonna try to make it to the witcher page as that interests me the most, haven't played any yet but am anticipating witcher 3.

gamerheadlines3782d ago

Seeing this feedback, we're taking notes and will try to improve. I get what you guys are saying, and I guess it can be frustrating to navigate through pages, especially on mobile devices. On the other hand, it's not really appealing to post a wall of text that takes minutes to scroll through either.

Perhas, for similar articles, we should include 2-3 titles per page, to make a mixture of readability and ease of access?

TopDudeMan3782d ago

@gamerheadlines Yes, I think people wouldn't mind as much if you had at least 2 items per page. Then we know it's not being split up just for the sake of garnering more hits. And maybe if you put an index on the first page as well after the introduction, that would have been much appreciated.

Sorry, again if it came across like I was taking issue with your article. It is in actual fact good quality and shows good passion for the games.

Tried to play it 3 or 4 times, the combat system ruins the experience for me.

MadLad3783d ago (Edited 3783d ago )

Baldur's Gate, Witcher series, Gothic series, Planescape:Torment, New Vegas.
Pretty good list.

I would have mentioned Vampire the Masquerade:Bloodlines, Divinity 2 and Morrowind though. All opinion though, obviously.
Preferred Kotor 2, personally.

Still hold Planescape as my personal favorite RPG. Best writing to be found in gaming, I think.

gamerheadlines3783d ago

Thanks for the feedback - those really are some great games, and we really loved Vampire the Masquerade. It was hard to compile of list of 10 games without leaving out some really great titles, but alas...

MadLad3783d ago

Sitting back and putting your entire gaming experience into a set list is actually a pretty hard thing to do.

McScroggz3783d ago

My top 10:

1. Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn
2. Final Fantasy VI
3. Chrono Trigger
4. Final Fantasy VII
5. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
6. Persona 4: Golden
7. Planescape: Torment
8. Fallout 3
9. The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
10. Kingdom Hearts

DoctorJones3783d ago

That's a great list, Baldur's Gate II would certainly be at the top of my list as well.

McScroggz3783d ago

It's my favorite game of all time :D

thorstein3783d ago

I would add Dragon Quest, Ultima IV, Phantasy Star, and more old school ones.

That is the problem with all time lists. You really need to have a top 100 in no particular order for "all time."

We're talking about going back decades.

DoctorJones3782d ago

@thorstein

Very true, there are so many rpgs I've played that hold a place in my heart. I replayed Dungeon Master a few months ago and it's still as good now as when I played it on my Atari St, some games are timeless.

I don't think enough rpgs get made nowadays really, there's still a stream of them but not enough for my liking.

DxTrixterz3783d ago

levian install morrowind overhaul 3.0. It's 1.7gb mod compilation that makes morrowind look as good as skyrim (if you have powerful pc and set all settings on max) but it needs morrowind goty edition or play skywind which is morrowind in skyrim engine.

darren_poolies3783d ago

My top 5:

1. Dark Souls
2. The Witcher 2
3. Demon's Souls
4. Star Wars: KOTOR
5. Baldur's Gate 2

Fallout Anthology Edition Looks Pretty S.P.E.C.I.A.L.

The Fallout Anthology Edition is coming to PC very soon, and is packaged with some very S.P.E.C.I.A.L. bonuses.

It’s an awful downgrade to the last one they did

They included physical disc back then

Infamous Video Game Endings That Left a Bad Taste

The most disappointing and infamous video game endings even sour the overall thoughts of a game. Most of these titles represent some of the finest entries in their respective series, marred by an ending we can't quite forgive.

Far Cry 5....bullshit. This game had a great ending imo.

MrNinosan14d ago

There is no game called Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 2, but Rebirth had a great ending imo. Felt robbed by the ending at first, but the more I've seen it and during my 3rd playthrough, I started to understand and realize a lot more that make me appreciate the ending.

Nerdmaster13d ago (Edited 13d ago )

I was enjoying FFVII Remake, even though those whispers throughout the game were annoying. But the ending was so bad that I don't even want to play Rebirth. On top of that, from what I saw on reviews, the ending of Rebirth is even worse.

Also, I'm glad to see Zero Time Dilemma being recognized as the trainwreck it is. After the amazing two first games (especially the near perfect second one), the low quality of the trilogy end is baffling. The new characters are bad, the old characters don't feel like themselves, a surprise "alien technology" pops out of nowhere, the big twist was like "eh?", and it doesn't really finish the story nor explains the loose threads from the second game.
