Ok first off it's proven by researchers in Pakistan, that 720p is better than 1080p, healthier too. Secondly, microsofts cloud is currently being tested on the new production line of stealth jet planes. According to reports, microsofts cloud could support stealth technology on these planes at a distance of 15500 km2. So I really don't know what these Sony fanboys are complaining about.

What qualifies you to define what a real gamer cares about again? A game that runs at 30fps and above is enough for most games to provide a fluid gameplay expirience. 60fps is only needed for fast paced games. But even then a stable framerate is more important than a high unstable one.

As someone who invests quite a lot of money in my PC I've had both, high resolution and high framerate most of the time. But as consoles are designed to be affordable for more people gamers have to make little compromises. And you can believe me when I tell you that the difference between a native 1080p and a 720p upscaled to 1080p is really a big deal if you have a proper HD TV. 720p is simply unacceptable in this day and age.

People care about resolution now because it is the next step in the generation, last gen was able to make it to 1080p, so evidently this needs to be a standard now. The 60fps is an added benifit to this generation and is something not done in previous generations of consoles therefore it won't be a staple in most console gamers minds. Every generation needs to be better than the last, the fact that some game CAN be 60fps rather than 30 is a step up just to have that ability on console, but if you don't have all games this gen at least 1080p that's a bit of a step back (at least for the triple A games). If we don't get on console makers' backs about something last gen could easily do then those makers will try to get away with less in each gen and console gaming will be halted in progress. (and my peeve against microsoft right now is that they think adding in a bunch of other functions that your other common house hold items can do will make gaming better... I don't think so...)

Graphics look great but this game killed it for me when i saw it being First person. Idk to me this type of game belongs in 3rd, just seems like it is going to be an eye sore just always seeing the dudes hands, or the tip of the weapon. Lets just put it this way. If a developer doesn't confirm the resolution for both systems, it usually means that the game runs in a lower resolution on one system than the other. An example of this is what happened with Assassins Creed 4 where they never confirmed the Xbox Ones resolution until the very last moment. And behold, the Xbox One runs the game in 900P while the PS4 runs it in 1080P. The same happened with Call of Duty.

As has been mentioned in numerous other comments, it's become something of a trend that the PS4 resolution gets announced, nothing is said about the XB1 resolution for a while, and it turns out to be lower in the end. Of course, it's entirely possible that the game will be at the same resolution, but more often than not, that has NOT been the case this generation.

And, really, what does PC have to do with anything? How often does the PC version of a game run at a lower resolution and/or framerate than its console counterpart?

People speculating that the XB1 version will have lower resolution aren't fanboys automatically. They're basing that on recent history. Being wrong on speculation- particularly on the strength of such strong indications- doesn't make anybody look silly.

Why is resolution so important now? Go to any PC forum, and they prefer a solid FPS over resolution any day of the week, and PC gamers are playing on better hardware.

Resolution arguments are pointless and only matter to a select few. Ironically those same people using it against others, avoid PC at all cost.

Good point about framerate. But in a lot of games the PS4 runs them at a higher resolution at a smoother framerate than Xbox One. An example of this is Assassins Creed 4 which runs at a rock solid 30FPS at 1080P while the Xbox One version runs at 900P with slight frame rate drops.

As far as I know PS4 games run at a smoother framerate than Xbox One games especially the exclusives. Both Ryse and DR3 have shaky framerates while Killzonw SF and Knack run extremely well in comparison.

I'm basing all my facts off the comparisons by Eurogamer.

P.S I know that PC is the platform that gives the best performance but if you have a budget of 500$ the PS4 is the best option. And I know this because I own one.

1080p at 30 Hz is practically the same amount of work for a GPU as 720p @ 60 Hz, which is "last gen", according to some folks (not me, personally).

I doubt that any zombie game is bound by the GPU -- more likely the CPU, in running all the zombie AIs, physics, and animation. I would wager that there are going to be *plenty* of 1080p/30Hz games this gen, for exactly this reason -- its the CPU that binds it to 30 Hz, and in that extra time.. why not do 1080p?

That said, I'm cool with 1080p/30 -- I'm just not impressed by it. It's not worthy of a headline without the "60 Hz" part. Even KZ:SF was rarely above 40 fps in the campaign, and that's Sony first party. If this game drops *below* 30, like it appeared to do during the video, then the framebuffer rez is the last thing the devs should be worried about.

A 1080p slideshow is not much more impressive than a 720p slideshow.

Well if it is sub-1080p and it compares to the difference between battlefield 4 on ps4 vs xbox one, i still say who cares. If that slight differential is what matters too you just buy a pc.

I can tell the difference. And that difference is obvious on a crappy TV and a good TV.

When I purchase a Blu-ray, I want to watch it in 1080p versus 720p.

Trine 2 Complete Story is a great example of why all games should be at least 1080p 60fps. It is an amazingly beautiful game. Play it in 3D and you will be blown away. they best use of stereoscopic 3D so far in any game...

Not commented on at the same time, conveniently. Not me saying it won't be 60, but the two really go hand-in-hand when talking about performance.
This is a first-person game and that potential lack of frames will actually be very evident.

But a MS representative told us all that 720p is actually superior looking to the human eye, & only Cambodian Sapsucking Spidertree monkeys eyes could interpret 1080p as superior to 720p......And in fact, Atari have also come out & said that the Atari Jaguars 480i resolution is far superior to the eye of humans with IQ's over 180.

1080p still isn't going to save this game. I predict it's going to be another Dead Island and will be quickly forgotten.

I will be happy if I am wrong, but from what I have seen so far, it's a free-running game set in the zombie world, but there are red laser fences that prevent you from going wherever you want. Kind of takes the word "free run" out of the equation.

A game with a great story and great gameplay can overcome weaker graphics. Amazing graphics cannot makeup for a poor story or a game that's no fun to play.

It isn't always a cut and dry case that a game is better because it's in 1080p.

Do Xbox one fans care about resolution? They knew it could be a problem when they got the system. If they can't get the x1 version to 1980p then they've got to utilize kinect and smart glass. The game should utilize the strengths of each console. That's all I ask for.

Their live demo had significant lack of anti-aliasing, at least fxaa should be added to make the game look decent.

Of course it won't matter if they're living in denial. The problem is that when a particular group of fanboys don't have their way, they cling to their infinitely flawed mentality of "who cares." As TVs and monitors continue to increase in resolution, upscaled games are going to look uglier and uglier, due to what the upscaling process actually is (stretching the image).
