Deus Ex : Universe Reported To Be Coming Exclusively On Next-Gen Platforms, Will Skip WiiU

Well, according to the LinkedIn of people working on that project, it appears that Deus Ex: Universe will be coming exclusively to next-gen platforms (in other words PC, PS4 and Xbox One)."

Wii U is no difference from previous Nintendo consoles. Everyone buys them for the first party.. Would be stupid to buy this console for third party games, like it was stupid to buy a Wii, GameCube, N64 for third party games.

3rd party on Gamecube wasn't a disparity at all. Just that there were less people to play online.

Wii U isn't current-gen so makes sense that the game isn't coming to the Wii-U.

it's not a question of who got better than the other, it's OVERALL Nintendo consoles compared to competition haven't had much 3rd party support.
I'm also talking Third party multiplatform games. Except with gamecube, Nintendo hardware has always been special compared to the competition, it's no exception with Wii U.

Yep. Deus EX: Human Revolutions is one of the best and most under-appreciated games of the last few years. Anyone who still hasn't played it owes it to themselves to go grab a copy.

My only complaint about it is the pointless boss fights.

yeah I can't wait. Honestly I'm shocked at anyone who thought the game would come to Wii U. I would bet pretty much the majority of games coming out from here out will not be coming to Wii U. Pretty much cross generation games are the only ones that have a chance to and those games will die off as the new gen gets further along.

That said I can't wait for the next Deus Ex. If it's as good or better then Human Revolution it's gonna be one incredible game. Can't wait to see what they do with the power of the next gen consoles.

It is too soon to dismiss the WiiU. If after next year the WiiU doesn't sell well I'll agree that it is time to move on but not before Nintendo releases their big guns. People tend to forget that Nintendo has by far the strongest 1st party of the big 3 and that it can move a lot of hardware.

I'm not dimissing the wii u . it will have it's set of successful game , exclusive or not . But it's pretty clear where lies the interest of publishers . It's already a pain obviously for them when they can't make identical versions across all consoles , they even force PC gaming to just get sometimes the same versions only in higher resolutions .

Most that move on to a new gen ... wont be making a separate wii-u build clearly technically inferior to XB1/ps4 and using it's "gimmicks" .
In that area the best chances of the wii are ps3/360 games still being produced

Sorry, but having 2 franchises that sell amazingly doesn't make that the best first party. It just means that Nintendo knows what audience to cater to when pushing out their rehashed shovelware. It doesn't matter what Nintendo releases in the future. People forget that the GC had all the same games that Ninty is releasing for Wii-U, and yet it still only sold an 8th of the PS2 sales in their respective lifetimes. Wii-U will have some great sellers, but the system itself will be lucky to hit GC numbers. Simply put, it's because noone cares about the console. It's weak last gen hardware that can't even hold a candle up to the likes of the PS4. Third Party suuport alone has already ensured the PS4 will dominate the Wii-U.

That would be true if most engines today weren't scalable. If the the Wii U proves to be successful I see no reason why 3rd party publishers wouldn't want their games on it.

Why are you talking about the GC days when we have more recent history?

Wii was also weak compared to the PS3 but that didn't stop it from winning the generation. Same is true for PS2 and PS1, both less powerful than the competition.

both the new consoles are likely to have bigger userbase compared to the Wii U early next year! The PS4 is already ahead in the UK by the matter of days despite a year headstart. and 3rd party games tend to not sell much on the Wii U. so...they should bother, why?

I can't decide what to get for the next Deus Ex: the upcoming $1000 Dell 4K monitor or the ASUS G-Sync monitor that has variable refresh rate up to 144Hz.

Either way will be better than 1080p/60 the PS4/XBO are limited to.

Again, graphics don't matter when you're trying to tel lwhat a next gen console is. What matters is the generation it is released. The WiiU was released as an 8th generation console, that makes it next gen.

What does 'Next Generation' in anything means to you, in general? The next generation of people, doesn't essentially mean they'll be smarter or more physically fit than the previous. The next generation of cars, doesn't necessarily mean they'll get better gas mileage than older cars that came before them.

The Wii U is a next-gen console because it's the successor to the original Wii. Plain and simple.

There has been no confirmation of it NOT coming to Wii U... Hell it was not even announced for which systems. Just some person on neogaf being nosy spotted something and ran with it.

Until an actual Eidos announcement comes out for which platform's it will be released on I'm just going to take the article with a grain of salt. I know fanboys are going to run with this as another reason to not get a Wii U. There pretty much foaming out the mouth with hate for Nintendo and the Wii U.

I would also like to believe that the Deus Ex that was released for Wii U was a testing ground for what the system can do with the property. Deus Ex for Wii U was met with great amount of praise. Sitting at a metacritic score of an 88.

I would agree with you there. look at the Wii U version of Assassins Creed 3. that was a tester for what the Wii U could do and as a result when they released Assassins Creed 4, it was a cracker.
You know what I mean. The company were testing the Wii U with there port of Assassins Creed 3. And once they learned they produced the much better Assassins Creed 4.

Also, Deus Ex HR on the 360/PS3 is sitting at 89 and 90 on PC. Director's cut on the 360 is at 100 and 90 on PC/PS3.

you have to give these games time. Deus Ex took its time coming out on Wii U and few retailers had it on shelves on release day. it will sell more given time. Same goes for Assassins Creed 4 on Wii U. it has only been out on Wii U a couple of weeks. And again only a few retailers have it on their shelves.
Right now retailers are all about PS4,Xbox One and oh I think we have Mario World 3D in the back...somewhere. this has been my experience so far anyway.

Ok well same thing could be said about Sonic Lost world, Lego City, Bayonetta 2, X, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate and whatever other exclusives that are coming to the system.

People need to remember its a TWO WAY STREET when it comes to console gaming. Its ALWAYS smart to have more then 1 console in your home. I'm getting a PS4 for those very games and then some but at the same time the Nintendo Wii U has some FANTASTIC exclusives coming to it as well. Not to mention the backwards compatibility with Wii games and then the Virtual Console library. Sure a little lacking at the moment but it does have some must have games like Earthbound and Contra 3.

At the end of the day IF this DOES or does NOT come to the Wii U its not the END OF THE WORLD. There are going to be other fantastic exclusives coming to the system that the PS4 or X1 does not receive.

Me personally don't mind sacrificing a little in the graphical department for some extra added control with the games I play but that's just me.

The only reason to get wii u is for 1st party games b/c nothing else worthwhile will come to this console... and it will only get worse in the future.

Well, there's currently a higher install base on the WiiU but the problem is the fact that this game will fail on the WiiU.

Deus ex on WiiU sold less than 20k copies. Most hard core games on the Wii sold poorly and that trend will continue with the WiiU.

Nintendo has been marketing to children and that makes up the bulk of the install base for the WiiU so I don't expect many 3rd party titles to bother dumbing down their games to fit on the WiiU unless they also do the same for the PS3/360.

Now this is actually good news for those of us that own actual next gen consoles and PC gamers.

Sales wise, avoiding the WiiU may be an excellent strategy in the long run. Why develop a "hardcore" game such as Deus Ex for a console whose audience is comprised of mostly casual players?

SE explained the Deus Ex universe a couple months back I think. They said a new console Deus Ex is in the works, but there are also several handheld or mobile titles also being worked on. They're trying to give the world more depth and background with more games to explore the lore and major events.

This is not even confirmed, and Deus EX on Wii U is the "definitive" version of that game. I have only played it at a friends house, but was very impressed. That game shows better than any I have played just how great the gamepad can work in a game.

Not according to this and other reviews as well. Wii U gamepad makes the gameplay that much better. The PC version does not have the gamepad, so no the PC version is not he best.

As everyone else says those who buy a Wii U buy it for the 1st party games and the majority of people with the system have more than just the Wii U so not really a big deal. I fear for this game though universe sounds like an online focused game and I like single player games staying singleplayer. The only SP game that did a good in recent memory with adding in a fun MP was ME3

Deus Ex HR was one of the best stealth games of last gen, so I have high hopes for this!

This is a possibility but, not a confirmation. The PC XBOX One and PS4 have a similar architecture so a person needed to work on all those is not a big stretch. Game publishers often have separate divisions for making/porting games. So until there is a direct confirmation this means little and even then that could still change.
