Examiner.com awards 'The Last of Us' & 'Grand Theft Auto V' Games of the Year

What another memorable year in gaming we've had, with the crescendo being the launches of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, along with a slew of impressive AAA titles.

While hardware was a strong focus for the year, we still want to shine the light on two games that to us, stood out among the rest that debuted all year long. From open-world, to sports, to action-adventure, to RPG, to survival-horror, to driving games, this industry enjoyed another diverse, incredible year and to recognize that, we wanted to crown two games as Games of the Year.

Personally, I enjoyed TLOU a lot more than GTA V (and I didn't have any online problems with GTA)
Glad to see yet another Sony exclusive on the run for GOTY though

I'm giving the edge to GTA5. I think if you compare Uncharted 2 life to date with LOU then Uncharted 2 would win. So that's the root of the solution here because had LOU came out earlier in the generation it would have won a GOTY award.

Even though GTA5 has all sorts of these problems it was just a bigger project overall. If you are gonna give Oblivion and Fallout 3 GOTY awards then it's no different with GTA5. Oblivion and Fallout 3 also had bugs.

Also another way to look at it is. GTA5 is way better than GTA4. However TLOU is just a few levels above Uncharted 2 and 3. GOTY shouldn't just be awarded to a good game.. You have to look at where the game is coming from and the competition. You can't look a GOTY as just a product in it self. Such as a COD GHOSTS example.., if COD GHOSTS came out after COD4 with no other CODs in between then that would be an amazing game.

Personally websites are only giving gta goty awards just because its gta when tlou is more deserving. The story is better, the graphics, the online, the soundtrack. Only the gameplay is debateable and I still think gameplay is better and more fluid on the last of us

The last of us all the way...GTA5 is the most overrated game I ever played..I really wanted to like GTA5....but the game got to point where I stop playing...The last of us really surprised me...I enjoyed that game a lot.

More interested in money than giving fans what they want. Such a shame

CrimsonWing691d 21h ago

With the amount of money they generated, I just don’t understand the scrubbing of this. It would’ve been fantastic for fans.

I really want to know who drove the decision to focus on multiplayer was it Rockstar or take two.

Because when online started taking off many of the studio leads began having falling outs and leading including a founder

Ikr mfs that greedy it's ridiculous

This makes me sad. Trevor was one of my favourite characters in gaming

One of the reason I believe once gta 6 release, most of us thoroughly play it, enjoy the world they crafted then after that no offline support, no dlc at all
