Final Fantasy XIV To Be Available on Steam “Soon”, Gets 100,000 New Players Every Month

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is probably one of the most amazing rebirth stories in the history of game development, with the failure that was the original Final Fantasy XIV rebuilt from the ground up and turned in one of the best MMORPG of the market.

Looks like things are going fairly well and new frontiers are going to be explored soon, like the upcoming launch on Valve's digital download service Steam. In the meanwhile 100,000 new players join the game every month.

Square Enix took a huge gamble trying to turn this game around, it looks like it's really paying off though.

Well they did it right. Nothing will ever touch how they ended the first version. Bahamut knows how to clean house and start from scratch.

Being on Steam is good exposure. Not that SE needs it, but there are people who only online game on STEAM or think that if it's not on STEAM it doesn't exist.

This is really a fantastic game! If you like FF games or have some interest in MMORPGs, buy this immediately. It is very fun and enjoyable.

Actually I'd suggest waiting at least another 3-4 months. The game is currently severely lacking endgame content - a game where the Yoshi P has said he wants it to be completely end game focused.

It IS a new MMO so you naturally its going to be lacking a bit, but unless you enjoy grinding the same two dungeons 100 times a week, wait at the very least until patch 2.1.

Gotta say though, this game has the best crafting system I've ever seen

Crystal Tower was delayed, which messed up their original schedule for content distribution. However, I dont think anyone who joins now.. will really have nothing to do for that long.

2.1 will be more than enough to hold people over, imo. I admit, sometimes it feels boring. However, game is good. Deserves its success.

not everyone wants to rush to the end and do endgame content regardless if Yoshi P wants that to be the focus. I wouldnt tell ppl to wait 3-4 months. I've been playing since beta and its still fun even with the lack of endgame content.

Absolutely false. The game "lacks endgame content" only for those that spend several hours a day grinding or started with several classes already maxed and don't care to enjoy the very broad horizontal progression the game offers.

There's plenty content to enjoy for months for new players, and a lot more is going to come on the 17th.

There's absolutely no reason to wait for 3-4 months. The game is great now.

And this is how WOW ruined MMO's. Where before one played to lvl up and be a part of a rich fantasy universe. It's now a "HURRY HURRY WE NEED TO GET TO LVL <X>!".

I still play WOW, as a huge Warcraft fan I looked forward to being a part of the "World of Warcraft", but since the start of the game's Alpha until now the game slowly has become more and more shallow to the hand holding farce it is today. Yes the game is streamlined for people like the poster above, but almost all RPG elements are gone.

Where it started in the Alpha where you could actually team up with an Orc and a Human, we now have a LFG tool that helps people to never even interact with each other anymore. Progress! The person above me would say, but all form of server unity and social coherence is gone.

I still roleplay my Orc from time to time, but really it hardly is an MMO anymore, its'a glorified pay per month Diablo filled with people only out to dress their virtual Barbie doll and to whine on the forums if they can't win a PVP match or they wipe in an instance. Instances that now only take 15 minutes, where before they'd take hours and would save so you could continue later on.

So yes, I"m happy with FF XIV doing it's thing, LVL slow and try to enjoy yourself. Let's get some RPG back in our MMO's and leave the MOBA's to their own game.

Just a reply to everyone who is saying I was rushing - I wasn't. I didn't use FATEs to level, I stopped leveling at 35 to focus on gathering and crafting. I got two crafts to 50 and one gathering class, all without powerleveling with levequests. I leveled 100% legit, and on my combat class, all with dungeons and quests.

True, if you join now you probably won't be stuck grinding two dungeons seeing as 2.1 is out in a week or so.

I started playing over a month ago and I rarely do Dungeons. Dungeons are actually my least favorite part of the game, but I still have a good amount of fun with the game. Still plenty to do.

I really like FF's and I never was a huge fan of MMO's but I have to say, the high level of quality and fun this game is completely won me over. FF14 is definitely worth playing.
