This Is What Metro: Last Light Could Look Like In CRYENGINE

DSOGaming writes: "Metro: Last Light is considered one of the best looking games of 2013 on the PC. CRYENGINE is also considered one of the best game engines of 2013. So what happens when you combine these two? Well, time to find out."

I personally think the metro last light engine handles shiny surfaces better than cryengine.

not much else though.

AndrewLB3791d ago

I don't like it. I think the Devs did an unbelievable job on Last Light, and I don't think Cryengine 3 would have made this look better: http://archive.sunet.se/pub...

DestinyHeroDoomlord3791d ago

It's pretty clear almost everything looks better with cryengine... if they could just nail the gameplay. So close yet so far away...

InMyOpinion3791d ago

This isn't made by Crytek, and the gameplay has nothing to do with the engine.

ABizzel13791d ago

Great engine waiting for a great developer.

spicelicka3791d ago

Am i the only one that loves crysis gameplay? Multiplayer is a little weak but single player is pretty amazing with a more open sandbox environment and multilayered approach to combat with the nano-suit n all.

DestinyHeroDoomlord3791d ago

I actually really like crysis 2 :p

spicelicka3791d ago

Same, i lovedd crysis 2. i have just started crysis 3 so I can't give my judgment on that yet, but let's see how it goes.

Activemessiah3791d ago

It's all good but the makers of Metro made the game on a super tight budget while still achieving a good looking game therefore made a good profit on sales... a lesson Square Enix could learn from.

Blackdeath_6633791d ago (Edited 3791d ago )

"while still achieving a good looking game" understatement of the century easily the best looking game out there on ultra settings

Activemessiah3791d ago

I currently don't have the privilege on running it on Ultra but I'll take your word for it :)

CGI-Quality3791d ago

Thank you! Finally someone agrees. Last Light, on max, is just untouched. Crysis 3 and BF4 have better character models, yes, but tessellation (which NO game tops Last Light on), environments, lighting and the outdoor atmosphere are all better looking in Metro.

Angerfist3791d ago

true. this has probably the best true-to-life graphics on console fps, it looks extremely polished. i play it again after finishing it when it came out and it still looks sick, DLCs are half good, half bad though.

MadLad3791d ago

I feel the same. Nothing quite touches this game maxxed out.
I remember fighting with what seemed like the entirety of N4G that this game on Ultra looked better than Shadowfall.
Hell, there's a good number of titles that look better that Shadowfall.

I'd like to see someone do, "here's what gameplay would be like with Cryengine but without Crytek". I'm sure I'd favor those results

IaMs123791d ago

Is it just me or do i think Metro still looks better? Would be nice to get a solid gameplay mechanics with this engine though.

Pandamobile3791d ago

Team of dozens of artists crafting a game for 2+ years vs. one guy doing this in his spare time.

CGI-Quality3791d ago

Not just you. Last Light DOES look better.

Metro Video Game Series: A Comprehensive History

The Metro video game series started with a humble b-list title, before building a strong fanbase and becoming a pioneer in the industry.

Never got into Exodus, but 2033 was excellent.

kevco3371d ago

Yeah, Exodus just didn't grab me either, sadly.

I absolutely loved 2033 and Last Light, however. Played them both on 360 and then again with the remasters!

anast71d ago

I just started it and it is already miles better than the first 2 which are dated.

Metro: Last Light - Still Fresh After 10 Years

4A Games' Metro: Last Light originally launched on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC 10 years ago today, and still holds up.

I got bored of Hogwarts crazy quick and it's bugs, was looking for just any good game got the Metro trilogy for about £8.50 in a Steam sale played through 2033 Redux, Last Light Redux and now am on Exodus. The series is awesome, the first two are like more liner story driven FPS with a few options to confront the levels, stealth, no kill runs and guns blazing, depending on how you play effects the story and its outcome. Third game I'm playing now is heavy story driven (but optional if you don't want to listen you can just walk away... I don't know why you would though) with large open levels that take hours to explore and still some of the best use of RTX I've seen to date, can play this game on ultra with DLSS set to quality, raytracing set to ultra at 4K with no dips, played on Extreme setting and was getting a few drops around water and some interiors.

Cant recommend this series enough and as a new fan I can't wait to see the next game in 2024... I also got the audio books so looking forward to see how well the games follow the original books. A4 Games are extremely talented.
