Ahhhh, welcome to the world of retro gaming my kind of place.
no military fps games but pure old school style fun.

Auron3797d ago

don't forget the best thing about retro gaming no micro transactions!

Dasteru3798d ago

Can't wait, 1 system to play all my old carts, HDMI, video upscaling & filtering, Audio interpolation. Save states, never beat jurassic park because of the lack of a save function and super ninja boys password load was bull$#!t.

And best of all, i can use an SNES controller to play Genesis games :)

rustyspoon803798d ago

6 button Mega Drive (Genesis) controller all the way.

And people think the console wars is a new thing :)

Really wish I'd still got all my old Mega Drive and Master System games. Still got my Snes (with Killer Instinct I might add)

I get the old school retro thing but people have to admit that fps gaming is kind of a move forward. Anyhow. Will be getting my hand on this

Dasteru3798d ago (Edited 3798d ago )

Point of view.

I'v always been more of an RPG guy myself and the SNES still to this day has the best of them as far as console RPGs go.

Very few FPSs i really like, most of them are just mindless mayhem with no real purpose.

cesuf3797d ago (Edited 3797d ago )

"no real purpose"

That would suggest there is a real purpose to some video games. Well I gotta tell ya, there isn't any purpose other than for entertainment.

Dasteru3797d ago

@cesuf:

That isn't what i meant, a little common sense goes a long ways.

I mean in regards to story/plot, alot of FPSs are just run and gun for the sake of violence, without a plot to make sense of it.

Hate to burst your bubble guys but this is just a a bunch of android emulators that read cartridges.

If you're gonna emulate may as well use Higan which is 100% accurate and free: http://byuu.org/higan/

mfi73798d ago

have to agree there with you, but its always good to have some kind of console to do all that and gives some sort of fun in different ways to the users.

Smashbro293798d ago

It's a horrible waste of money, just get the actual hardware.

Dasteru3798d ago (Edited 3798d ago )

It actually isn't using software based emulators, it uses Android as an OS since it is impossible for hardware to function without one and it is alot cheaper to use open source software like Android than to create their own Retron OS from the ground up.

The actual emulation on the Retron 5 is hardware based though and they are aiming for 100% compatability. Super Castlevania, one of the most notorious games for not working properly on emulators due to special chips, is already running flawlessly on it.

Smashbro293798d ago

I don't recall many old school systems having an OS.

Furthermore if you wanted 100% accuracy in emulation you should just download Higan for free.

Dasteru3798d ago (Edited 3798d ago )

They did, just no visual UI. Hardware cannot do anything without the software to operate it.

Problem with PC emulators like Higen is downloaded Roms are illegal, you are only allowed to backup your own, and you cannot use the original controllers on a PC either.

Edit: Sry stupid site did some wierd auto reload while typing, and posted my edit as an entirely new comment.
