Parents Finally Cave And Buy 33-Year-Old Son PlayStation 1

Having refused to purchase the video game console since its introduction in 1994, local parents John and Melissa Gionda confirmed Thursday that they had finally caved in and bought a Sony PlayStation 1 for their 33-year-old son, Daniel.

I found it quite funny :P

But... The Parents look like snobs... Snobs are the worst of people...

EDIT: I think there might be a little Satire built in to this article...

The Onion makes satire articles.

FunkMacNasty3802d ago

Of course it's satire!! It's The Onion-have you never heard of them before? If not, check out their website and lookup some of their printed publications. They are a completely satyrical news agency and their stuff is hilarious!

PS1. One of the best systems ever. That system was littered with awesome jrpg's.

This article is from the Onion so it`s probably not true, but thought I`d share.

My parents would never purchase games for me after my Vic-20 which they bought for me and my brother when I was six or seven. When they eventually picked up a Commodore 64 for us, instead of buying us games they would buy us a copy of Compute`s Gazette magazine which often included game code and say "If you want a game, enter the code" so I spent a good part of my childhood entering and debugging code on a C64 and figuring out how to modify the game when I grew bored. We picked up a used Atari 2600 at some point at a farm auction that had a few games but my sibling didn`t have a game console until I bought them a TurboGrafix 16 for Christmas when I was away at my first year of university. Today I`m retired from the brokerage industry and attempting to make my way with a game studio I started.

The point of my story is my parents were cheap bastards.

I had to cry to get pokemon Ruby back in the days, is not that my parents were cheap is just that they would never buy me video games. They had gotten brainwashed by the media

Anon19743802d ago (Edited 3802d ago )

There's always that too. Video games were just as bad as Heavy Metal, D&D and Rap Music for corrupting the youth. It's funny that many still think that despite all the evidence out there to the contrary. And by funny, I mean depressing. I don't care if they thought that in private and left the industry the hell alone, but they've always got to harsh our buzz, man.

On a side note, my parents bought us a 1541 disk drive for our C64, only to pawn it a year later and promise to buy us a new one which they never did..you know...because they needed smokes. Looking back, I'm amazed we had a Vic-20 or C64 in the first place. They were cheap bastards. Ah, a trip down white trash memory lane...

Lol that sucks lucky for me my dad is a pc gamer so he always knew the importance of video games he still plays command and conquer to this day

frostypants3802d ago

"Probably" not true? C'mon people...

Salooh3801d ago (Edited 3801d ago )

My parent were ok with gaming since the 90's :) . They didn't see anything wrong with it as long we commit to study and pray.

Actually , i think that gaming was a tool for them xD. The more we sit in home the less they are worried lol .

Golden Axe is a great game I enjoyed it on the SMS, Genesis and in the arcade. Great game but it truly was a quarter eater back in the day. I wish Sega could get the rights to the arcade port of Moonwalker another great arcade game I enjoyed. Collect so many monkeys and become Robo Michael lol.
