Aside from problems on launch day, I haven't seen one complaint since.

I never get disconnected from psn, and downloads consistently run as fast as my 30MB can provide (at least by my counting vs watch calculation)

I am sure the XBO will have a smooth launch. Should be very interesting to see how many units they sale on launch day since they are releasing in more countries on day 1 compared to the PS4's NA launch.

I think once the PS4 releases in the other 13 markets on 11/29 & December then they should compare numbers. But, the fact still remains of the PS4 selling 1.06 million consoles in 2 days in North America alone is an amazing feet.

And all I wanted was a upgraded 360 or PS3 with an amazing controller , and sony delivered with a good price tag!

On Amazon UK's 2013 top sellers in video games the XB1 is sitting at #37 and the PS4 is at #3.

If they say the XB1 launch is going to be big then the ps4 launch is going to be massive.

I agree it will be interesting to see the uk and USA numbers of the Xbox one but this shows that the Xbox one is not going to be a flop from the start like people on this site have been saying.

We will also have a better idea in 12 months time on which console Will be the leader and how well the others will do.

I hope Nintendo manage to push the wiiu again now though as it now has the games and is a under rated console.

Sony was a dominate power in the console market. From PS2 vs Xbox to PS3 vs. Xbox 360, the amount of share MS took from sony, their userbase, is extremely impressive. Sure, MS didn't outselll them on their second generation, but did anyone really even expect before launch that MS was going to be neck and neck and lead in NA sales?! MS did a fantastic job this generation and just to say "well Sony outsold them" is irrelevant in the amount of ground MS took from Sony. This is a two horse race and both consoles offer some great things.

Admittedly Sony underestimated MS at the start of last gen plus questionable decisions from the people in charge. After a change in leadership and perspective, it didnt take Sony long to overtake MS again. Were not talking finances before the rapid fanboys get defensive. This time around PS4 took no chances. The last few years Sony won the consumers back. This gen they wanna win over the developers. As much as people want Kinect to mimic the Wii's casual market success, it wont. The general public opinion of Kinect speaks volumes. While Wii captured the casual market, it wasnt JUST the gimmicky controllers. The Wii had faces. Mario, Link, Samus. Kids wanted these characters. X1 lacks severly in those respects. You said that PS3 lost some fans. Looking at preoders, sales, and public opinion, I would argue PS4 is getting them back.

What it comes down to for me is that MS last gen (360) even with RROD did some things that no one expected.

When the 360 was released tons of people waited for the PS3 to release. I myself sat on the fence and eventually jumped on a 360 and was really impressed with it (aside from the RROD).

Once the PS3 got it price down and games started to come out for it. It gained momentum and ended up catching the 360 ...at the END.

Hats off to MS in there second outing.

Now come to current day. Its turned around in huge favor of the PS4. The price of $399.99 is huge. And the launch sales have proved that.

At the same time...there is a demand for the X1 as well. There are plenty..myself included who are excited for the X1 and Kinect.

Im not going to sit here and say the X1 will eventually sell better or vice versa. I just believe that BOTH systems are going to do well.

Because in the end...does it matter if one finishes 1st or 2nd?? Great games and experiences came for both the 360 and PS3 last gen. And im hoping that we get the same this gen.

Its more amazing to think that the 360 was always cheaper than PS3 and that PS3 had the worst launch ever, worse than What Microsoft has been experiencing for the past 6 months, yet the PS3 still managed to pour out better exclusives and did in fact outsold the 360 even with a year head start. MS fans always forget the role Nintendo and even Sony themselves played in the whole market share thing. Sony dominated everyone with PS2, so it was almost inevitable that they'd lose market share. Why do you people mention price drops? The 360 came out a year early in Nov 2005 (see also; market share) and didn't drop until Aug 2007.

Sales always matter. The real issue is that the 360 crowd changed goal posts until they all ran out. Sony has always delivered the games. It be no different this time around. Lie about numbers? Haha you obviously don't understand how the system works. Microsoft is a public company with many shareholders. Reporting false numbers is very illegal. But of course like many of others on here you people just spread false accusations without any facts backing them up. Sony has been outsold by Microsoft with the Xbox 360. While I am not a fan of the 360, due the massive success of the console Microsoft was able to set a hefty budget for the research and development department of the Xbox One. Don't forget a million sales in the first few days is nothing compared to sales over a period of 6-7 years.

Seeing that microsoft is targeting mostly the casual audience with kinect in mind, I believe they are going to hurt themselves at launch especially with the xbox one being more expensive. If microsoft was smart, they would have sold kinect separately. I believe they will have a good launch but after the core buy it from launch, sales will be slow until they drop the price. Look for a $399 sku in 6 months time. Sony selling 1 million units in 24 hours in the US only should give u an idea how much demand there is for the ps4. U can bet that microsoft already has plans just incase things are slower then expected.

At this point. Its clear that the PS4 is very very popular. Sales on release have shown this as fact.

At launch...I dont feel MS hurt themselves. Because there is demand for the X1. In comparison to the PS4 its making it look as if the X1 is a failure...which it isnt.

Pre-order from what I have been reading is much much higher then the 360. BOTH the PS4 and X1 will do great numbers. the PS4 higher.

As for your opinion on saying MS should have made the Kinect optional. I disagree. The reason is that they need something to differentiate themselves from the PS4.

I bought a PS4, and I love it. I have friends getting the Xbox One. I don't like the Xbox One, but I wish them the best of luck and hope they enjoy gaming as much as I have so far with my console. CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!

I find playing on psn the same as xbl, i stick cod on both, go to multilayer on both, look for a match on both and play on both, typically get in a game faster on psn and its less laggy their is also hardly anyone screaming down their mics etc but i guess with ps4 that is going to change, joys.

games like bf4 that I played at my buddies house on ps4 look awful, covered in jaggies with low res textures, not to mention it certainly was NOT native 1080p...it was obvious with all the artifacts everywhere

played the knack demo at gamestop on my lunch yesterday and it looked like a ps3 game, same crappy textures, same jaggies, and to top it all off, A FIXED CAMERA.....WTF???

played ghosts on my brothers ps4 (the only game he bought .lol) and it looked like my pc version set to all medium, the textures were worse, the performance was junk and the jaggies were awful in that as well

what is almost impossible to believe is that the xbox1 is actually even WEAKER than the ps4, cannot imagine how terrible things will look on that

after 8 years you think ms and sony would have at LEAST made these systems on par with what pc was doing 5 years ago....but nope

when there are enough games for these things and the price is down to around $200, then I'll grab one or both maybe, but now.....awful ports of pc games I can get cheaper with way better graphics and junk first party games that are barely getting 7's......for $400-$500 plus $400 to play online for years and games that cost $65.....lol.....pass!

I fully expect sony to outsell ms this gen but on the note of last gen when people say sony didn't beat ms by much and it took them years to do it does anyone bother to take the failure rate into consideration? I mean 360 had over double the failure rate so how many of those sales were just replacements? When both consoles hit the 80mil mark earlier this year I bet looking at the still functioning units sony has a big lead in user base. They sold more and fewer broke so wouldn't it make sense that sonys user base is much higher then compairing units sold? Because that being the case going into this next gen I could mean a huge difference in sales for both consoles.

I like my PS4. Not as big of a wow factor like the day I got an xbox360 though. Stating that, I know I have to keep my expectations realistic. It's going to take some time andunderstanding that not everything's going to be perfect. This is the price gamers pay for buying first. However, first comers will also get dibs on the first great titles that come along. For example, 6 to 12 months down the road there may be a great game to be released. Who knows maybe watch Dogs. Point being, I will be paying $60 for the game. That type of "must buy title"(and I'm not guaranteeing it's watch dogs) will get the later adopters who now will have to buy a machine for the game and spend $460 to $560 to play that title. The advantage of purchasing the console early. It's do e, paid for and out of the way. I also have a " what if I lose my job" 6 months from now and can't afford a new system. Blah blah blah both machines will bring it and be great. For me it's about the exclusives I enjoy more. For now it's Playstation.
