EA: PS4 1.50 firmware causes stability issues

According to Electronic Arts, the PS4's 1.50 firmware can cause a PS4 to malfunction.

"Sony has released a firmware update for the PlayStation 4 that is required for many features on the console. However, this update also results in stability issues while playing games on the system.

This affects all games on the PS4, including EA titles, causing crashing/freezing and non-responsive connections between the player's console and their TV Screen."

Nomercy it actually plays a big part if you actually listen to what they have been saying.I downloaded the patch before all the crazy started therefor my patch wasnt messed with because of the high traffic.My online has been fine and no problems after the patch.Mine only took 2 seconds not minutes.Thanks for being an idiot as usual.

No issue here either. I downloaded the update via USB drive last night and uploaded the patch to my PS4 when I got it earlier today. Some people should've listened to the reports and ateicles telling you to download it early on a USB to avoid sever overload issues.

I would be willing to bet that those systems with issues downloaded the firmware via ps4 and because of the high network traffic I suspect part of the package corrupted whilst downloading

A corrupted package shouldn't even install. A simple checksum would prevent that...no way in hell do they not verify the integrity of the file before installation.

My battlefield kept hanging up on the first mission, when you get on the elevator they just stand there. I deleted the app file and reinstalled....willl see if that helps. Other than that...no problems what so ever (knock on wood).

My one and only issue so far is that Blacklight will not load. I have redownloaded it a couple times with the same issue. I deleted it and am going to try again in a week or two. Right now warframe, resogun, and KZSF are keeping me pretty busy.

I am enjoying my PS4! I had some trouble logging in to PSN launch night, but it was expected though...everyone was eagerly turning on their beast. The only issue I have had is that the system has locked up 5 times so far and had to reboot in safe mode. I am sure there is a patch incoming.

Every firmware update on any console has lead to bricking.

I think a big part of this getting so much attention now is, that a high percentage of people, who unfortunately has a failing PS4, is telling their story online. Combined with the fact that it's launch day, 100 bricked consoles out of tens of thousands can easy be blown up to epic proportions.

At least I hope so - I'd hate for a faulty day one firmware to become a major problem for any console.

The red line was noticed a few months back, when pictures emerged showing the PS4 going red inside a glass case. When it was taken out it went back to blue. The red line is a sign the system is overheating, but it might also indicate there is other problems with the system too?

I think the update too is causing issues, but i have serious reservations about the PS4, because of its small casing, i think heat may not be properly ventilated out?

The truth is Sony has been hurting big time this generation solely because Microsoft stole so much of the market to a 50/50 split. They needed the PS4 to be a success hence the $100 price cut and earlier release date.

I got pretty far in BF4 campaign and I was in the middle of playing then it backed out and said error (which happened a couple times today.). So I restart it from the xmb and it says my save file was corrupted. All my progress gone. Not that big of deal but I was really enjoying the campaign. Anyone else have this problem?

Ran into an issue with my PS4 not too long after I turned it on, it definitely seemed as though some sort of update affected my console. It wasn't until I downloaded the recommended update that pops up not too long after the intro into the UI, that my console began resetting on it's own. After the first few times it tried to boot back up and kept resetting, it took me to a screen that said "Cannot start the PS4" and it said something about not being able to read the HDD. I messed around with it for a while and reset the system, FINALLY it took me back to the UI instead of failing to boot, i quickly shuffled over to Settings and went to system update and to my surprise the 1.5 firmware update was available and said my console was not up to date. I updated the system after a few automatic resets thanks to my PS4, and havent had a problem since, but keep in mind i've only had it for one full day. But basically all day friday I haven't had any issues with it.

For all we know all affected consoles might have come from one factory which would mean it is an isolated problem. Unless every single or a vast majority of people are reporting the problem, this is just another launch fiasco that we knew would happen. Just because a vocal group of people who have problems with their units does not make this to be some catastrophe that some idiots are making it out to be. If everyone who had a problem with their PS4 left a review on Amazon it doesn't mean OMG 40% OF PS4S ARE AFFECTED! Amazon pushed tens or hundreds of thousands of units and so far those who are reporting problems don't even make up 1% of those who actually bought it.

I'm not saying this is acceptable but we all knew something would happen, let's not just pretend and act all surprised now that something has come true. Within a few months. No one will remember this, unless Sony doesn't address it and lets it persist for years (RROD) this will just be another launch debacle that will be filed away into the history books.

after watching 2 hours of PS4s UI and features on giantbomb i think there's a lot of work to do. the partychat seems to cause problems with echoes, some menus are downright unlogical ... and the biggest one: there are no games!

i think they've done a good job with the PS4 but i have the feeling it will be the same as it was with the PS3 ... a nice console to play the exclusives on but not the primary system to get.

that's why i'll always choose xbox over ps - it just feels more thought out and robust ... has ever been like that.

When I got my PS4 yesterday @ Midnight I updated the PS4 via USB with Udate 1.50 first one I downloaded 308MB.... I turn it on to do the update but the ps4 kept telling me that the firmware was and old build... So I went back the the playstation sight and found a new 1.50 that was 868MB . When I did it with the 2nd one that was 868MB . It updated and the PS4 worked the way it was ment to..... So far so it's been working well..... all my 7 games have no issue.... For now ... And I do feel bad for everyone havering problems... I hope it all works out ... And good luck to all the Xbox one day one buyers.... When anything is mass produce it such great numbers you always going to have products that don't work or that have sight problems.... In the end they do get fix... But it's such a headache...

There must of been bricking and reported problems with every firmware update they released for ps3 and i had the system from day one and never experienced any problems from updating the firmware at all so really it's just the norm for playstation and the luck of the draw whether you get problems. I think it's better news for everyone if it's the firmware causing the problems though because with it just being launced you're obviously worried somethings gone wrong with the manufacturing.

im gonna keep it real sony fans is not gonna going to tell you guys the real truth about the ps4 no demos only like 5 to 10 games to download unless you buy a game that's already out and played still with the hella long download I could not play ghost online until the third patch was finish downloading nothing really to tell your mom about but one thing im realy digging about the ps4 is the controllers YESSSSSSSSS THEY FINALY FIXED IT MY THUMBS DONT TOUCH NO MORE ACTUALY I LOVE THIS NEW PS4 CONTROLLER ON THE REAL I HAVE AMD A10 RICHLAND QUAD CORE WITH A XFX 750 GRAPHICS CARD AND IT IS THE SAME IF NOT BETTER AND PLUS ITS CHEAPER AND I CAN USE DUAL SCREEN FOR RACING OR ANYTHING ELS
