Yeah, some opinion reviews for a couple of launch games have made me change my mind or doubt my pre order on a console i know im going to have for the best part of the next 10 years. Many devs considered to be the best in the business haven't revealed anything yet and the gen hasn't even started but im already having doubts.....

You can't judge a generation on a few launch games. Judging the PS2 on Fantavision and PS3 on Genji is ignoring everything that came after them.

I agree with you. These reviewers WISH they had the pull to influence someones opinions as much as they think they have lol.

The fact remains that I, and I'm sure others, have been looking forward to this day for quit sometime now. No reviewer, wannabe twitter/youtube celeb, blogger etc are going to try to spoil my joy or influence my decisions :-)

Hell no, journalist have their opinions i have mine while i do watch/ read their reviews i would have already made my mind up about something just watching review for others input.

I would imagine for those that are dead set on it, it wouldn't affect them at all.

I would imagine there might be a few people who were on the fence about purchasing one and maybe now after seeing some of the reviews come in have decided to hold off on their purchase.

But regardless, you should never let anyone else tell you what you will or won't enjoy.

Nope, if your buying a PS4 for it's launch games... You shouldn't be buying a PS4.

By the same merit, if you follow the mainstream gaming media reviewers every word... That must be a horrible life. Considering it's the same game media who almost always has no idea what they're talking about.

After reading about how the console is nice and quiet and doesn't produce an excessive amount of heat, now I want one more than ever.

P.S In case your curious the game that I wanted to get is AC4 which has gotten pretty good reviews so far.

KZ:SF is greatand So is Resogun, and the usage of Remote play makes it soo worth it, and then ofcourse who can forget All the exclusives coming shortly after launch with both driveclub and Infamous SS and Deep Down?

If people think launch titles define consoles for 10 years then they have short sights and selective memories, This is the same situation as previous launches! Only this time the line up is stronger than what we have had with previous PS launches...

Killzone still looks great and a man has listened to what reviewers have said and it seems like it's exactly what he wants. Contrast and Resogun have also gotten decent reviews and a man is ready to get started.

A review shouldn't deter you. Reviewers have their favorites and can be biased. They could give Forza 5 a 1/10 and I'd still buy it.

after all the false "neutrality" going, i wouldn't trust reviews from any source. go to youtube, look at gameplay vids, read forums, and play the demos if available...

at this point, the only reliable judge is oneself...

Everyone who has been with Playstation since it began know what to expect from a console from them. It seems to me & i may be in the minority but ever since last gen Playstation is seen under a microscope more often than others. There seems to be higher expectations towards a Sony console & its games & if those higher expectations aren't met we get what we are seeing today.

Besides it is silly to judge a console on its launch titles. The original PSone had a weak launch library compared to the N64 & Saturn yet we know how that ended up. The same with the PS2 & the PS3.

I feel sorry for the ones who will be jumping ship just cause some reviews scores (some questionable some even fanboyism (Polygon) cause they will be missing out on what Sony's first party will come up with down the line.

I'm gonna savor a new Playstation launch just like i did with the past systems & reap the rewards that come with them.

Expected better reviews, but I think it was a combination of the next-gen hype combined with developers rushing to get a foothold in new hardware. High expectations plus less time in a less knowledgeable development environment are not going to help review scores. Expect many low scores the One's launch library as well. Doesn't mean either system is not worth buying or the games are not worth playing.
