Ubisoft: Watch Dogs Progressing "very well", Delay was Key for it to be Top-seller

"Watch Dogs" and "The Crew" are earning very good progress according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot. Says, as stated by Gamespot, "the development teams are "really happy" to take advantage of the extra development time so as to achieve "very high quality games.'" Guillemot further iterates that the delay to 2014 should allow the game to be the bestseller for that year despite being a Q1 release.

We will miss it at launch. But good things come to those that wait. :D

zeal0us3811d ago (Edited 3811d ago )

True but Ubisoft seem to be forgetting a lot top tier games also are coming out next year.

It takes a lot of work to make a AAA top tier game. I honestly wish more devs would delay a game if they think the game isn't in good shape. Cough EA Cough. Battlefield 4 crashes so much it's stupid. Even on the angryjoeshow he went out and bought a new GPU and battlefield 4 still crashes. I love his angry rants. Haha

"Delay was Key for it to be Top-seller"

and there we go guys. confirmed delayed just so it could sell better. Because we all really believed that just weeks away from launch, the game wasn't ready :)

ABizzel13811d ago

Well when you're investing millions in a product you want it to sell, and it was a smart choice IMO.

Why have Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs compete at launch. Just wait a few months and launch it then. March / April seems much better IMO.

"Because we all really believed that just weeks away from launch, the game wasn't ready :)"

I agree; yet I think we wouldn't have believed so much if they didn't say it would be ready when they full well known that it wasn't ready. :D

It looked like it was already a high quality game, I really expect to see new features and game play added because it's been delayed for a long time. I mean are they really just going to keep polishing it until next year.

I honestly have a feeling it was so it didn't drive sales away from AC4. They are probably sitting on it now not doing all that much new to it.

gillri3811d ago

yes I hope they spend alot of time polishing it and adding better graphics that take more advantage of the PS4,

christrules00413811d ago (Edited 3811d ago )

I wouldn't expect a lot of changes. But I think they may add more of a variety of the surveying missions. When watching there gameplay videos I could see surveying getting really repetitive. With the whole hacking system since it's something that hasn't been done before I expected bugs so maybe they are patching bugs due to them working with there engine to add new gameplay elements that they have.

Delay was Key for it to be top seller..

In other words, we don't want to release it up against GTA V, BF4, CoD Ghosts, AC4, Killzone:SF, Forza 5, Mario 3D World

We want to release it at a time when the release schedule is barren and empty ;)

MWong3811d ago

Agreed. At least when it releases I hope they improve on game mechanics. Possibly a graphics boost to what we saw E3 2012.

GarrusVakarian3811d ago

I feel violated. I commented positively towards Ubi when they revealed it was delayed, said something along the lines of "I respect Ubisoft for delaying watchdogs to give it more polish". Now i know the real reason was only to make sure they made maximum $.....it shouldn't really surprise me considering how Ubi have been recently.

stavrami3811d ago

how well early release well ??

MrPerfect8133811d ago

Well yeah it will be a top seller, now that it wont face off with GTA, BF4, AC4 and COD Ghosts

Ubisoft's Recent Antics Have Me Fearful For The Sands of Time Remake

Hanzala from eXputer: "With Ubisoft's practices becoming increasingly anti-consumer lately, the destruction of The Sands of Time Remake looks almost inevitable."

Hey Ubi, here's a gun, don't shoot yourself in the foot.

*Ubi takes gun, aims at foot, empties clip*

At this point, only dummies have any hope left for Ubi-junk games.

Every industry has these issues

Some companies I’ve worked for were great and some were toxic as hell (UPS when I was a teenager was extremely toxic and I have heard it still is) It all starts at the top. They either hold people accountable , set standards and treat people with respect or the crap rolls downhill.
