The Stylish Jerk: It has been almost a year since the Wii U was released. How do I feel about the console? Skeptical but optimistic.
The Nintendo Switch is potentially nearing its lifespan, and several Wii U games haven't found their way over as ports yet.
I think it's better to leave games like AC: Amiibo Festival and Mario Tennis: Ultra Smash forgotten on the Wii U. Best case, they are mediocre games; worse case, they are very bad. It was a dark time for the Wii U, and the first only exists to sell Amiibo cards, whereas the second was put together in a couple of months with a shoestring budget, and it shows.
The rest of the list does have some really cool games, though. I would love to see a remake of Star Fox Zero with decent controls, and Xenoblade X doesn't require that much modification to work.
This article leaves out Nintendo's most controversial game to date devils Third.
I personally found the cover system really fun in that one compared to at the time most fps games completely lacking one.
Kirby is always ignored or forgotten by people, so good to see it mentioned here.
Play Kirby Canvas Curse on DS, and then play Rainbow Curse on Wii U, they're really fun and unique 'platformers' without any actual jumping.
Hanzala from eXputer: "The cruel hammer of Nintendo has fallen. Farewell, 3DS and Wii U, you surely brightened my life and many others; you won't be forgotten."
A new list goes over eight of the the most useless amiibo, ranging from the Shadow Mewtwo card to the Qbby figure.
I honestly still don't know what a Wii U exactly is. Is it like a Vita?
It's a tablet in your hand, a second screen experience. Many commenters have already discussed the problems with the Wii U I'll tell you exactly why it is not selling.
Price: Everyone can proclaim all they want about how the 3DS software sold the 3DS. Software helped, but it was the price. If the 3ds was 250 still it would not sell. Families and gamers see Nintendo as a second console experience or a casual machine. If it launched for $250 it would not have had the same problems.
Good article.
I totally agree. Last year was a massive disappointment when I bought a WiiU at launch but it's recently started to win me over with games like pikmin and Zelda.
It's still got a long way to go and unless it gets some momentum over Xmas then it's gonna get passed over by the ps4, but at least now there is hope.
I love the wii u i dont care what anyone says
bought 2 games since launch 1 year ago. the wii u will be the only console in history where i paid more for the hardware than for succeeding games. this is a great accomplishment if you asked me. there are not many companies out there with THAT amount of delusional behavior. their deceased founder - who by the way hated gamers and gaming - left a very questionable culture behind of "ignore the buyers, ignore the market and the rulebreaker will win". that was true for 1 time (wii) and 1 time only. because although humans as a species are as dumb as can be they KNOW when a company is just in for the moneygrab. hence no memorable sales figures for the - wrongly marketed - wii u. the biggest mistake was keeping the name wii. this alienated the ex-fans even more and was NOT the thing to lure them back. delusional, as i said. the whole nintendo-leading-staff needs to be replaced.
