I’m putting it all out on the line here. I enjoy breaking leaks but if this is wrong I’m fucked. I know this. This is how much I trust the people who have verified (and I hope for a CBoaT appearance).

The short story is that Xbox Live and the OS, especially in functions that involve XBL, are a complete fucking mess. One source says we aren’t talking weeks until it works correctly but “months.” Things like parties dropping people when moving from one thing to another. Connectivity issues. Missed invites. Friend requests not working, etc.

We're only on the edge of the rabbit hole people. According to CBOAT, there is quite a fall and people need to brace for impact. Many people on this site have already stated. Xbox One was suppose to launch in 2014. EsRAM drivers aren't ready, the OS isn't complete, developers haven't much time with the final devkits. With big multiplatform games only being in 720p, MSFT is going to have a hard time convince 360 owners to make the leap.

Just for some clarification, COD SP is 1080p/30fps and multiplayer is 720p/60fps. Titanfall is also running in 720p along with Battlefield 4.

Dude, something started to stink after i heard about that.
People who are in denial that something is definately amiss at MS is in for a rude awakening.
MS have yet to come out and full on deny anything wrong with the console or its services. That speaks volumes and this exact same thing happened before it was spilled that Ghosts is 720p on the Bone.

Heres why its the ps4 that is the one stumbling into next gen:

Only 1 high profile launch game and its a shooter running on an old engine offers nothing next gen, graphics upgrade cannot run 1080p 60fps whole game and its sonys flagship game WITHOUT DEDICATED SERVERS vs a open world tons of zombies on screen no loading, no streaming, plus a hack n slash @900p with the best next gen graphics and by far the best cinematics in any game launching.

Then we have Driveclub delay but Forza5 looks better and as a sim has more going in regards to tech performance all at 1080p 60fps.

Then we have seen far more about the X1's hardware details with hot chips conferences and other panels talking about the custom design architecture and UI than ps4's? sony lack of details on hardware suggests it off the shelf since they've been pretty hush to say otherwise, sure wasn't hush about the cell/bluray last gen launch.

Then we have seen COD Ghost and BF4 both already running on X1 looking no different than ps4 versions.

Then we've seen X1 at more events not 1 cancellation unlike sony and X1 is in more stores with gamers having hands on while sony has ps4 showcased in controlled sony stores.

All this while having the more robust console that not only is launching standard with a high tech camera but also introducing next gen ideas like cloud computing and is leading with dedicated servers available to all games/Azure.

Now its 2 weeks before ps4 launch micro is still showing more, engaging with the public while we hear of sony not getting ps4 in journos hands setting review restrictions, and just running the same Taco Bell ads a few others but where are the uncontrolled hands on demos of the KZ SF and the system UI at this point?...releasing earlier we should see alot more from sony but we don't.

Only hit for micro is bad PR the system itself has proven over and over again rumors were wrong about die issues, downclocking, fcc certification, no demos, delays, supply and code issues. This latest OS crap will also be next BS rumor proven wrong.

Those are not live demos, those are videos. The ps4 ui has been shown live in videos where you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it was running on a ps4. Those xbox ui in those videos you linked could have been running on a pc for all you know.

The point of the argument is this, if your using CoD: Ghosts as a basis for defining next gen graphics. Then you are utterly and truly grasping at straws in finding ANYTHING negative Xbox One.

Other games has already put Xbox One as truly next gen from the get; Ryse, DR3 and Forza 5. Then you add on to that third party games that run games equal to if not better than PS4 (gameplay).

The coincidence in the rise of these RUMORS are very suspicious, because they started popping up right after the new release of VGchartz next gen pre orders as of week ending Oct. 19th:

I like how you brought solid numbers into it. Seeing that cod has 329032 pre orders, that is a clear lead. It accounts for 68% of the totals for launch window fps numbers for the xbox one. Clearlyn cod still reigns strong on ms consoles. Sony on the other hand only has 298180 cod pre orders for the ps4, 52% compared to 3rd party launch window fps games. However, kz:s is also a launch fps and changes the picture. With it, Sony's fps pre order totals = 822101 compared t MS' 482253. Cod now only accounts for 36% of the launch window fps games for ps4. So MS has more cod pre orders, but you have to consider that has something to do with Sony' s base spread across 3 games vs MS with 2. Its good that ms has so many, but there is a logical reason.

a 300mb patch that enables the feature set for the console isnt adding missing features. again what dont you understand about the Hardware being finalized and in production months before the Software is! thats why the small patch "activates" the features. Lets not forget that The PS4 can still play games and log into the PS store without this patch. You cant even do that on the XBOX One without downloading that UPDATE that turns the console from unusable functioning. and they haven't even fully detailed the full details of that update in itself, and the console is less than one month away from launching.

Yet Sony comes out and details the contents and clarifies that your console will still do what it's main function is which is play games offline and you want to make it seem like PS fans are hypocrites.

In fact, we still use XP at my (very large, institutional) workplace.

I use Win7 on my desktop and Win8 on my touchscreen laptop. Both of these OS's are great. Best I have ever used, in fact.

Right from the start "The system is built around always online, you can't just take it out with the push of a button". Three days later "The system won't be always online". lol

Ryse is 1080, wait, not anymore. Used games won't work, oh nevermind, they do now..

It's been a constant back and forth with them, and they've been tripping over themselves the whole time. Every time they talk they just end up putting a foot in there mouth, it's like they're not capable of just communicating properly. I'm honestly shocked that so many people follow and defend them with so much blind faith.

At the end of the day though it's just a game console, and they'll each have their dedicated fanbase. The best thing microsoft can probably do at this point is just keep their mouth closed, because nothing they ever say ends up benefiting them.

Regardless of all the rumors and speculation and people pawning off opinions and rumors as facts these machines are about to be released in the wild and people will be getting their hands on 'em soon enough and find out for themselves.

Either way, people on both sides are still gonna have fun playing their games on whichever platform they choose. Game on!

Anyways the 360 was released in a vaccuum... i.e no competition for a full year as the PS3 was delayed. The only HD, online console. Yet the PS3 has sold the same worldwide and us still more expensive. More games, better quality exclusives and free online. Not to mention Bluray.

I believe them! because it's Sony! which is why it's so much worse for MS, a software designing company, to be screwing up in this area.

The top tier insiders on gaf are also chiming in and are pretty much backing everything up. Why do they leak bad news for MS? because there IS bad news to leak from MS, some people obviously cannot accept this or fathom that Sony was much more prepared for this gen than Microsoft, that's pretty much all it comes down to.

Misterx's blog on the other hand has 0% credibility or any success rate and is still driven by the hopes and dreams of secret sauce. When any of these rumors pop up, for either system, rational people use actual, available evidence to support or help disprove them. They point to the proven track record of the people breaking the rumors, or existing, consistent evidence to the contrary.

For example, CBOAT and the others leaking the XB1 news have been extremely reliable in the past, and not just for this generation. And despite the rumors of widespread heating and crashing issues for the PS4, only a very small handful of instances have actually been reported.

Why is that, rather than try to use something logical or sensible to break apart the argument, you opt for pure disbelief. For you, it can only be people trying to smear the XB1 and Microsoft. It can only be fanboys making shit up. It's as if the serious, negative rumors that have already turned out to be true don't exist, and there's no way in Hell that any current such rumors could be real, either.

In your mind, at least.

According to "insiders" on GAF, the old version of the Xbox LIVE API was just a simple drag and drop program. However, with Azure, it works differently. Instead of just having the XBL client, there are game specific clients that are running VOI. THIS is the issue. Once again, rumored, but according to them the newer version is more like the PS3 where each and every game has to have VOI programmed specifically for it. They also said that this was an oversight because the programmers that created the new version didn't work for the games section of Azure. It's all speculative, but thought I'd put it out here in response to your XBL comment.

According to the leak and thread on gaf, the set up on x1 is completely different.

360 worked where one person in a group led. On x1 everyone leads. Meaning if one guy decides to switch from film to game, it will take everyone across.

Second issue is it hasn't been designed by the gaming team and therefore the issues that are causing problems were never thought about.

Thirdly, the 360 ran on 1 OS, the X1 set up has to work on 2 OS and work with the hyper visor and it's complicating things.

All that being said, if you are just playing games on your own, you need not worry.

These are quite major issues and I highly doubt MS would release the console in such a condition. I know MS are one of the most stubborn and arrogant companies, but even they know they would have to delay the console. Did you see how long it took Sony to crawl out of the hole that was a year delayed release and they had a larger consumer base than MS does with the 360. It would have been tough, if not damn near impossible for them to pull off. Having said that, how many companies have you seen that openly state that they are having issues. Transparency is not the high point of many companies...let alone companies that have direct competition releasing with a highly competitive product. That being said, it's only a rumor and should be taken as such until further clarification. After reading a few posts from apparent leaks on both sides. I think everyone should prepare to have online problems at launch. If you have pre ordered either console it would probably be best to invest into some SP games that will tide you over for the first couple of days while each company works out teething problems.

The problem is if there are issues with Xbox Live maybe you won't be able to download the day one patch. Which means that you won't be able to play any games at launch not even Forza 5.

I hope the rumors turn out to be false but so far Microsoft hasn't denied them and they are aware of these rumors especially Phil Spencer.

All we have is bad news and rumors without any information from Microsoft. Where have I seen this before?
Was it before the reveal when all the bad rumors came out saying the XB1 was going to be always online? MS was silent on that one and it turned out to be sorta true.
Then there were all the bad rumors concerning used games before E3 and MS was again silent before revealing that indeed, they were all true. In fact, every bad thing you could think up, MS was doing.
Now all the rumors are the games aren't ready, the OS isn't ready, and the online portion is broken. I wonder how long until we learn the truth? Oh wait, I know. Nov. 22.
It's pretty clear this thing is being rushed hard and the restructuring at MS isn't helping. The people working on this seem to have a new boss every other month.

There are three operating systems; the game OS, the Windows kernal and the hypervisor handling the switching. XBL is under the game OS, the TV functions under the Windows OS. Apparently, there isn't seamless switching going on.

Yes, we are more so talking about "partychat", and that too is being run through and/or set up with Microsoft's cloud service, which, again, is totally different from XBOX 360's PEER TO PEER party chat system.
Microsoft's AZURE servers weren't even originally built for XBOX 360 or XBOX One....... their both being bolted on top, so there's nothing implausible with party chat not working. In fact, it's more likely that it won't.

Why is Microsoft doing it this way? I don't know. But I think it's important to remember & understand that the XBONE was originally intended as an ALWAYS CONNECTED device with Microsoft's cloud service being the backbone......before all of the 180's, of course.

The Crew and Driveclub were delayed too. And what all these games have in common is that they would make heavy use of the social aspects and online interactivity more than any other launch-title.

In the end we're all gamers and it sucks when your new hardware or software doesn't work when you get it home.

I have a 360, PC, and PS3. I play any game, by any maker, for any console.

I'm going to get a PS4 first and then an XB-ONE in 2014. The PC version of Titanfall will actually run at 1080p and 60fps. And that's probably one of the most intriguing titles of the 'next gen'.

Infamous Second Son is the second most exciting upcoming next-gen title I've seen covered.

Killzone Shadowfall graphics and gameplay look incredible.

Drive Club and Forza look comparable to each other.
Dead Rising 3 looks tired, and old hat. But honestly Knack is looking pretty light too.

Killer Instinct looks like a decent current gen title, and Sony has a lot of great indies on the way. For me that balances out pretty closely.

Ryse looks pretty, but extremely underwhelming in most other ways. This game could have been my freakin shiznit...almost like Lair could have been in the early days of PS3. But then everything about the game comes up just a little shy of great. And several elements come up way short. All-in-all, the player leaves disappointed, and hoping that this piece of crap doesn't discourage other developers from ever trying this game setting again in the future. I love Gladiator movies and Spartacus was a great, weekly show. So I'm majorly bummed about a lot of the gameplay I've seen videos of Ryse. But I keep watching everything that gets put out in hopes of good things to come.

I'm sure that the Order of 1886 would have been the same shoddy mess had it not been delayed.

I'm really excited about a next gen Halo, but I'm over Gears of War... no depth, just rehashing a great 2006 title again and again.

I am stoked about announcements for the Last of Us 2, Uncharted 4, God of War 4, and/or Quantic Dreams next title.

Bayonetta was tight on my 360, I can only hope for a next-gen version of the sequel. Wherever it runs the best I'm in.

I just don't understand why Microsoft didn't just come out with irreverent confidence and squashed these rumors without ever mentioning them.
Same day Sony announces graphical quality of a title why wouldn't it also just be added nonchalantly to a M$ message board or online interview. Playing damage control on constantly swirling rumors is just bad business. And is scaring a lot potential buyers into the hands of the powerful PS4, a dedicated gaming machine. Clear message delivered repeatedly.

After the total debacle launch of the PS3 someone deserves a lot of credit over at Sony for delivering such a great product promotion campaign. From the reveal onward it's just all been so prepared and on-point. Someone or some company masterminded all this advertising and messaging down to the regular release of new potent information. That person deserves a raise.

There's even word that it could take "months" to fix.

Who would like setting up their Xbox (& downloading the patch to get rid of DRM) only for it to crash while browsing the UI, using advertised features like snap-in, etc, or crashes while online?

There have even been insiders agreeing that it should've had more time in the oven.
Apparently it's in a far worse state than what happens normally with console launches.

Not to mention the downgrade in res' & frames per second with games, with the esRam being a bottleneck, which even when it gets sorted out will still be way behind the competition.
