Sony Shows that Games Run on Actual PS4 Consoles at Events With Pictures, Debunks Rumor on Using PCs

Sony Computer Entertainment is showcasing the PS4 in Italy at the Games Week trade show in Milan, and the staff at the booth finally decided to debunk the widespread rumor alleging that games at events and on demo stations are running on PCs and not on actual PS4 hardware.

Yeah I know, I assumed you meant Microsoft since you didn't specify and there's pics of the PS4 in the article. Sony has been showing off the PS4 at their stores for a couple weeks now. I saw someone post a picture of the PS4 itself and the controller up close last week while playing Knack.

if they used PCs, then the whole PS4 overheating thing that was blown out of proportion (in a container with no ventilation, when container was opened PS4 went back to normal operating parameters) wouldn't make sense.

There's also numerous people who took pics of themselves playing the PS4.

The only reason why Nelson had to show pics was because when a Xbone-looking station malfunctioned at an event, it showed a PC running windows:

Now, it could be that it was merely running the xbone through the PC like they said you could do, but will that give the xbone's graphics a boost, and not representative of the actual graphics? I don't know, time will tell; since that incident happened, hatemongers decided that the PS4 had to have been running on PCs as well.

The real question was what 'games' that being played on the actual PS4 in the events. People are keep bashing it because they could only see Knack, DriveClub, and indies. They haven't seen BF4 or COD running on retail PS4.

Microsoft did upload pictures of "real" Xbone systems in action at an event after they had already been caught out once but they were quickly debunked again as 1 blue screened to a Windows 7 OS.

Proving that not only did they lie about it running on the console AGAIN but also that they didn't have enough faith to even run there own Windows 8 OS with their own gaming software.

Although Sony has been using real ps4's for a long time as seen by Yoshidas on stage demo a while back. Although xbone used massively overpowered pcs then they came out admitting they were pcs but then said, "here, ok these are now running on real xbones" with xbones in full site only to find out yet again that there not actually connected & again connected to hidden pcs again!!

Microsofts actions so far have been disgusting for the entire release of the XBone. It has nothing to do with fan boyism. The 360 was great, the XBone is a console being pushed by corporate idiots who want to get as much profit out of as little work without the slightest bit of knowledge of their subject matter!!!

Well considering the thing launches in a little over 2 weeks, I'd hope they weren't using PC's to show off PS4 games. E3 was around 6 months before launch. Made sense then, not now.

You'd be surprised how many comments I see on articles even like yesterday with people alleging that PS4 games still run on PC on demo stations and at events.

It surprises me every time. No matter how many times you tell them that it's 100% inconceivable that store demos run on PCs, because Sony (or microsoft) would never, ever give access to a PC including files from games to store clerks they have no control on. Can you imagine what kind of can of worms that would open?

Well at E3 they probably ran on dev kits, but in recent events and the demo stations, i'm sure that they were running on the actual hardware. Still, some people would still say they were running on PC's.

Its obvious, if games where fully ready to be shown earlier, then they might as well have launched the consoles earlier.

MS is at deperate level at this moment. They can easily put PC hardware components on all the demoed Xbone console. Even Crytek admits that Ryse is still running PC codes at the moment. Unlike The PS4 that is hard to reverse engineer the console and put PC component inside due to it's size. Installing the latest GPU available on the market on the PS4 is close to impossible.

MS doesn't sound like the desperate ones here. They have been open about pretty much everything from day 1 even though they got backlash. You can't say they haven't been upfront. cant say the same for sony though. They have been very quiet the last two months. Plus there aren't a lot of hands on reports from actual hands on the ps4 retail console. Then you have watchdogs and driveclub being delayed and now they are restricting reviews with only weeks to go before launch. Something is definitely going on. Xb1 games have had plenty of hands on from games as well as the media. xbox is on a tour around the US right now.

What are you talking about? How does the physical size has anything to do with reverse engineering it's hardware? They both use an APU made by the same company using almost identical processors. AMD is releasing a mobile APU in the future that is identical to the Jaguar chipset that is in the PS4, so I have no clue why you are spilling out this lies.

How is this recent news? I flew over to Sydney a couple of weeks ago to cover the EB Expo, and whilst I was there I saw lots of PS4's and Xbox One's out in the open and being played. They were not locked away in any type of casing, and it was very clear that they all worked quite fine. I didn't see any overheating or error messages of any kind for either system. The only time a game was played on a PC with a controller was Titanfall and Watch Dogs. Everything else was running on the hardware itself.

Let's keep the facts straight. Sony has been saying they went to Gamescom and TGS with either devkits or debug units. Nothing they did indicated otherwise.

On the other hand, Microsoft has yet to show Titanfall and Battlefield4 on a XBone devkit or debug unit, choosing to call high-end i7-GTX780 PC's as "equivalent devkits". The one report of a BF4 MP demo confirmed to be on a XBone debug unit, the playfield was limited to 8v8. WTF?

MS keeps using this childish PR tactic "I'm covered in poo, when I rub it off on you, so are you". Whatever really negative, stupid thing that MS does, if there is a huge outcry, then MS tries to transfer it off on Sony, too. How many times have you heard "Well, Sony does it too." when MS is caught doing some assinine thing like using high-end gaming PC's hidden in game cabinets as "being just like the XBone". Remember, it was MS caught red-handed doing that and they act like it is standard practice. Sony had some glitches on devkits and debug units but at least it was on the actual hardware. Sony has nothing to hide, that is why they can respond like they did.

Did you even read my post. At Eurogamer they were showing BF4 running on XB1's in two separate 16 v 16 games. Do you have learning difficulties?

I've also been to the Tour event in London where BF4 was running 8 v 8, but there was no room at the venue for any more machines.

I'm not really aware of many cases where people thought that Sony was using computers...just the $2500 dev kits instead of a retail console. That being said...gamers should be aware by now that games shown at games shows and the like should be more about the game itself, rather than the hardware it's on...both good and bad. Wait till they release to make that decision.

at E3 and Gamescon BOTH PS4/XB1 were using PC's and Devkits!

Devkit = a PC having the same specs as the console but usually slightly higher so the Devkit can ACTUALLY make the console game.

So I'm not gonna go tit for tat on Devkit vs. PC because a Devkit is a PC.

Besides at E3 and Gamescon PS4/XB1 all had games CRASH back to Windows 7.

Obviously the consoles/games were not ready at that time and or still being heavily tweaked so no big deal as you still got a feel of what you were getting.

after Gamescon PS4/XB1 started running the actual demos.

The ONLY people who make a big stink about this is FANBOYS.

PS4 Devkit = $2500 although SOny has given free 1 year loans to many Indie Devs

XB1 Devkit = $499 just go buy a XB1 because it can act as a Devkit once Microsoft gives the Dev approval and the XB1 then has it's Operating System revamped through Patches.
(MS hasn't given a final go but this is their plan of action sometime after launch but it could change)

I played on a PS4 just 3 hours ago at a PS4 Lock In event at GAME (British gaming store). The games were definitely running on a PS4; I checked out the UI (it was limited since it was a demo kit) and it awesome. The games I tried were FIFA 14 and Knack. Since it was an public event, no 18+ (M rated) games were allowed. Still it was an amazing experience.....dat controller. But even then, haters gonna hate.

There are XBone demo kiosks in Canada Best Buys. They only have Forza and Killer Instinct. Several people that have tried it hands-on are coming away with less than stellar reviews and there have been quite a few disappointments with the controller, something about the trigger buttons.

These kiosks have at least debug units in them, so the whole PC demo station is becoming stupid, especially just three weeks from launch. More demos will be loaded on the kiosks over the next few weeks, so the whole PC-cloud issue becomes moot.
