It isn't just Sessler. I get the impression some YouTube reviewers are pissed they are not getting PS4 kits to review games on it. Instead they have to go to an event to do it. I can see why he and others are annoyed but it seems a bit blow out of proportion. You are the independent YouTube guys. It is just a bad consequence not being apart of the big companies (same thing happens for movie reviews on YouTube and they don't complain. If you want that extra privilege you have to work for the big companies)

I have not always been a Sessler fan, but to say he is some internet nobody is incorrect.

O.T. I like to watch the guy's show and his reviews but it seems that he is 'pulling a sessler' with this situation.

He's always had this position towards Sony. He bitched about it on a Sesslers Soapbox once crying about embargos.

He's always had a stick up his ass about this and the launch of the PS3.

It's the reason why he's always preferred Xbox and why everyone accuses him of being paid by MS.

Honestly, I think he's one of the biggest jokes in the industry. When you have his influence, you can't take sides like he does. He simply needs to get over his personal issues with Sony if he's planning on pushing Rev3 into the bigs.

Also, this is the same man that said the PS4 costs the same as the XB1 when you add the camera and year of PS+. Of course XBL is clearly free in his mind and the PSeye is mandatory.

He's also on record for saying Wii games would be better with a 360 controller.

He says he's tired of military shooters when KZ3 launched and that he recommends Bulletstorm instead but changes his tune a week later when Crysis 3 drops.

He also asked Killzone fans if they "Fucked their mothers" for questioning his integrity but with a statement like that as well as his past actions and opinions, why would anyone take him seriously and not question his integrity.

Why is it no one has ever accused him of being paid off by Sony or Nintendo?

And his views on embargos does make him an entitled douche. No one says you have to have reviews ready on launch day. If this is about embargos or some of Sony's mandates, pay for those games like gamers do and stop bitching.

Sessler is a pretentious person (I'm not calling names here). I don't know about zod18's "entitled" statement, but it almost seems that way in this case. Sessler uses non-common, big words to make himself seem intelligent, but when a discussion goes technical in any way, you can clearly tell he doesn't know what he's talking about. You can tell he likes being a critic more than a gamer, and while on G4 had a clear bias toward Sony. I've never liked him, or trusted his opinion.

For instance he claimed the world was ending because he thought he wouldn't be able to capture PS4 direct feed footage for his reviews (this was way back then when it was rumored that PS4 will have HDCP protection for games, today we know the PS4 will eventually get a patch to removed HDCP protection for games).

Let's not mention the fact that there are ways to circumvent HDCP, which he should've known about.

Adam Sessler wants Sony to since him a "free" review because others have one. So throws a fit on the internet about it. Sony says they are having a "Review Event" where jornalist, bloggers, testers can try and review. Sessler says no "I" should have one because it has to be at his job.

Ok, so let me try to bring this all into perspective:

1/ A thread was started on gaf about confirmation of Battlefield 4 running at 720p on the X1 and almost certainly running at 900p/60fps on the PS4 (but not yet entirely confirmed)

2/ Someone grabs a Sessler Tweet in which he suggests his whole livelihood is at steak because of what 'a certain' company is doing (but he doesn't say who)

3/ Geis also joins in and moans about it. At which point some people start speculating it's about the Battlefield 4 reveiws and resolution

4/ It then changed to talk of not being able to upload videos to youtube (which seemed to fit into what Sessler said)

5/ Geis then is the FIRST to answer a tweet from Penello asking what it's all about and tells him it's not about MS

6/ Someone calls him out on how fast he responded and Geis immediately deletes his first tweet to Penello

7/ Marcus Beer then makes a comment on Gaf about how he suspects companies that won't allow him to install games and test hardware under his own conditions

8/ It transpires that the whole thing was centred around the review event that Sony are putting together and some of these journalists didn't get invited or didn't get the access they wanted

Basically, it's just known MS supporters moaning about not getting their cookies first, but they continued to be vague because they knew it was distracting people from the real news: Battlefield 4 runs at 720p on the X1.

It's all been a smokescreen folks. Nothing to see here.

Jeff Gerstmann is the highly respected editor-in-chief of Giant Bomb. He said he doesn't know of anything major to be getting upset about and what he does know is nothing major.

The fuss is centred on Sony's PS4 review day on the 11th of November where video game writers go and review the PS4 games.

Adam Sessler creates video reviews and is apparently upset that Sony won't provide him with the facility to record footage for his reviews which means his video reviews will have to wait until he actually acquires his PS4 unit so his reviews will come out later than the websites who have written reviews. The reason Sessler gets his Xbox One review unit before launch is because Microsoft have categorised him as a 'company friend.' Because there has recently been a lot of negativity about the Xbox One recently, Sessler and the pro-Microsoft writer at Polygon magazine are trying to stir up a hornets nest about the reviews being fixed.

Whilst a two day event is not ideal conditions to review a game it is industry practice for larger titles and is to be expected for a console launch where so much is being put together last minute before launch. Sessler is a drama queen and unprofessional and there are a million bloggers who would be happy to do what he is doing and not make false hints of corruption. I've lost a lot of respect for him.

I've seen that story before, and there is absolutely nothing in there about Sony let alone anything coming from Sessler. I've heard that the invitations to the review event where given to only a few of the biggest/ most popular review sites + there's an embargo on captured footage - maybe as some exclusivity deal.

Basically all the reviews and footage can only come from the 'invited/large' review sites (IGN, Gamespot etc) , anyone else who makes a living off there own youtube shows etc won't be able to review or use captured footage until Sony says so.

It won't make a difference to us customers - as we'll get to see reviews etc as normal, but for people like Sessler they're essentially being blocked, won't be able to make any review shows of the PS4 launch which is kind of a big deal.

My only question is does this restriction apply solely to the hardware release event or is it indeed a policy moving forward governing all software video reviews? Well, of course the PS4 is going to receive bad news in the future. The PS1 and PS2 were major juggernauts, and everyone and their grandmothers were buying one, but people were still criticizing it.

Will the PS4 actually have the next-gen RROD? The only reason Sony did this, was because they have a system wide firmware update that improves performance, that isnt ready yet and wont be until close to launch. They just want to make sure all of their ducks are in a row, so as not to cause unnecessary widespread panic on the consumer side due to overzealous reporters looking for any reason to knock Sonys momentum down a notch or two.

I'm sure he's welcome to do so. Sony is just not sending him a testing unit to do it early, or a unit that can record directly for editing. Basically they've relegated Sessler to pretty much every other YouTube reviewer and 3rd tier gaming site on the net. At least that seems to be the general consensus on what's happened.

Not sure if he was invited to the event or not, but not sure why people expect Sony to invite every single YouTube reviewer and 3rd tier gaming site to the event. It makes sense that they would invite the ones that will get them the most coverage.

In the long run, I'm sure Sessler will be fine. He has enough followers and enough ins with the publishers and developers to get all sorts of free crap from them for his review consideration. If he is in such dire straights that his career will be ruined over a few days of not having an immediate scoop, then he is doing something wrong elsewhere in his life, and that's not Sony's(or anyone else's) responsibility to take care of.

Doomz that is all well and good about getting some games early for review embargo, this is a system launch and some may get systems (probably big sites like IGN, Gamespot, etc.) others can either go to the review event or they can get a launch system install the day one patch and review the games. They have choices. It appears to me they are complaining that they have to go to this event because they weren't given free PS4's. Actually, I used to enjoy Adam Sessler on G4TV, but he kinda became too self important. And I don't give crap what any fools say, he certainly is biased against SONY and has been all along. Go do a bit of research to prove it to yourselves. They (G4TV) were always bashing and making fun of PS3 while artificially building up MS with thinly veiled backhanded compliments. Another thing to remember is this is a game system and a toy, not something life altering, it's not that important to everybody. Reading between the lines I formed my own opinion about the "life changing career saga" of Sessler. He was practically shilling for Micrsoft most of his career and at times very anti Sony. Now Sony does not treat him as a top dog in journalism and in my opinion he knows that the TOP console will be the PS4 in future. Now if I was him I will also be in a frantic and know my livelihood will not be the same with Sony on top. That's life Sessler son, if you burn your bridges openly and publicly where your have clearly shown your bias towards Microsoft while openly opposing Sony and now you find yourself in a pickle as you clearly know who and what console is the most popular at the moment. So then live with your own decisions you made in the past. You rode the wave of popularity from the majority eXBox fans and now you will just have to be sidelined like them in future.

PS: Lesson to gaming review Journalists: Be non biased and honest about every console platform and you will benefit the proceeds of the advertising rights on your site. But when taking sides with open bias then be prepared that the proceeds will diminish when the tables turn.

Its one thing to say, that a company would not just keep sending out review units , because they may not have enough units right now left!

At a Console launch event when your trying to talk about a Console that another Company spent Millions and Millions of $$$ on and if your going to be doing a video cast. They want at least Some one Sober doing it. That's why there is an event ready to go, Yes it may be short Noticed but its indeed there for the Media to go to.

But its there for the Media to go to if they want to put out a Review on a Product. Sony do not have to invite Adam, the fact there is a complaint about this could be for many reasons, Adam has not even disclosed it all yet, but what we do know, is as recent as E3 Adam did a live video event Under the weather or was in fact "Drunk ", and that may not bode well for review Media Talent when Exec's look at those video reels.

You may not be treated to being seen as first choice for a review, the same thing with annoyed gamer- Marcus Beer.

Ironic thing about it is most of the time he has a "Drink in hand" on Live Video casts, and there is nothing wrong about having something to drink, nothing at all, its once again, this is a Launch event, and maybe just like in sirius radio.

Again, its one thing to have the right to be able to review any product, but the People's product you are Going to Review also have the right, to say, well just because you have a format such as (sirius radio) with the Review Process being as Lax as they may have, the companies can give you 2nd tier treatment because you may have on Air talent , that has no Quams about being under the weather or "Drunk" live on set..At a launch event!

Maybe Sony is trying to hide something, but what they're hiding is a surprise feature they haven't mentioned yet? They are only giving review units to trusted reviewers who they know will not leak anything or break an NDA.
