Review of Batman: Arkham Origins [Kuma Kreations Ent]

Kuma wrote: Every hero has a beginning; either you came from a distant planet or starts off with a dark past. Either way it is your choice on what legacy you want to begin and for Bruce Wayne, it was to be the Dark Knight that Gotham needed. This is the supposed prequel to the other Arkham titles where you take on Gotham as a fresh start Batman against a lot of heavy hitters, but the question that everyone is asking, has Warner Bros Montreal succeeded in this Batman? We shall definitely get into that.

Seriously? The game is amazing. The boss fights are incredible, the story is good, gameplay is so diverse and wonderful at the same time, the world is huge, Batman is badass, the graphics are some of the best seen on all platforms and the game scores a 2.5/5?

SMH.

SavageKuma3828d ago

That is not what I was talking about? Where is the origins? Where is prequel, there was nothing new and the boss fights were very timid. Sorry your beloved hero this time around can't get the recognition it deserves.

Everyone is so tied up in the title "Arkham Origins" that they just can't wrap their head around it.

The series never was about Arkham. It was always about Joker. Considering the fact that the 2 previous games have established themselves as Batman: Arkham XY, the devs had no choice but to use the same title in their prequel since, well, it is a game in the same universe.

The whole series is about Batman and Joker's relationship, how they became ying to their yang. Batman meets Joker for the first time in Origins. That's what it's all about, that's where the prequel stems from.

The boss fights are definitely not timid, they're long, hard (that's what she said) and they differ from one another. Heck, there's even some humor and badassery (Electrocutioner battle). Character design is excellent, voice acting is great. Story so far is absolutely brilliant. The design is amazing, the characters look better than both previous Arkham games combined (would you look at that freaking cape!).

Sure, the gameplay is more of the same with a few additions, but it's brilliant and didn't need to be changed! To be honest, I don't think anyone but Rocksteady should change it, so it's a good thing that WB Montreal stuck to the formula, expanding it ever so slightly and wonderfully and creating an immersive, gorgeous to look at and extremely fun to play game.

I just don't know how people can't freaking see it. Going inside the Steel Mill, running around Jezebel plaza, you just can't help that nostalgic feeling coming from Arkham City, seeing how the world changed along with Batman.

Maybe it's just me, but I'm enjoying the hell out of the game. I like it so much I'm holding off on playing it a lot because I don't want to finish it so freaking soon. That's how good it is. It's definitely not as bad as you've made it look. But hey, who am I to judge your opinion...

SavageKuma3828d ago

100% really, eh to each is their own.

bigboss19903828d ago

There just waiting for next gen I think its a shame its not getting the reviews it deserves, I'm really enjoying my copy so far its ridiculous they give this such terrible scores most people love this game on amazon well I give it 9/10 its a great game play it it won't disappoint.

toxic-inferno3828d ago

Utterly ridiculous review. Sure, the game doesn't really do anything new, but it does everything as good as (if not better than, in some respects) Arkham City.

At least an 8.5/10. Probably higher.

SavageKuma3828d ago

Please elaborate on how that it is utterly ridiculous?

SavageKuma3828d ago

If you want someone to give you the same drawn out answer with the score that you want, then don't read reviews because obviously opinions are not for you. I broke it down and I expected an interesting prequel take on the dark knight, not all the games are going to be perfect. Sorry to burst your bat bubble kids!

The best Batman Arkham game still isn’t on PS5, and that’s a problem

Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League is almost here, but I can't revisit the best Arkhamverse game on PS5 without sacrificing quality.

Not a fan of Orgins. Blame it on the absence of Conroy & Hamill. Blame it on the lack of atmosphere compared to Asylm. Hell blame it the devs thst dicked over Wii U owners like me that purchased the game only for support be dropped as a thank you to me. It's better than Knight but that's not saying much. I don't care for that entry either.

Rebel_Scum95d ago

tbh buying a game like that for WiiU should’ve been an obvious non-purchase when it existed on better hardware.

Cacabunga95d ago

Origins is amazing..
my favorite Batman is Batman and Robin on mega drive.. an HD REMASTER of that would still look glorious

ZeekQuattro95d ago

I got it launch. Kinda hard to go back. I'm supposed to know they were going to drop support months after the fact. 🤣

Exvalos95d ago

You sound like a salty fanboy, that it didn't come to your precious plastic of choice. It's not the developers fault Nintendo continues making underpowered hardware. It's our fault because we keep buying it. Yes I say (we) I'm part of the problem as well.

ZeekQuattro95d ago

I have a PS3 and a Wii U. How was I a salty fanboy? I bought the game on the system I wanted it for.

Rebel_Scum95d ago

Nah my comment has nothing to do with whether you’d know or not that they’d drop support.

Buying any AAA game of that era for a WiiU you should’ve known you’d be sacrificing graphics and load times.

LucasRuinedChildhood95d ago

It's solid but Origins is definitely not the best Arkham game.

LoveSpuds95d ago

Smacks of hyperbole to me, talk about clutching at straws to create some drama around PS5!!

Titles like these are designed to get you to come in, go to their comment section and tell them how they're so wrong so they can boost their numbers.

Phoenix7695d ago

Even though its not the best arkham game in the series, its still an enjoyable game in its own right. What it do really well at though, was the crime investigations scenes. Which imo, were the best of the franchise.

goldwyncq95d ago

I don’t know about best game but it definitely has the best story and boss fights.

boing195d ago

Never played it and recently I've finally tried it via cloud on psn. It's not the best for sure, but it ain't bad either.

Batman: Arkham Origins - Open World Busy Work that Doesn't Hold Up 10 Years Later

Batman: Arkham Origins launched 10 years ago today, and sadly doesn't stand the test of time as well as its predecessors.

Petebloodyonion176d ago

I fail to grasp why this title is worse compared to Arkham City (according to the article) as the author didn't provide any argument to explain why aside from that it felt the bigger map compared to Arkham Asylum made the experience less tight.
More importantly, the author seems like he never played Arkham City since he described the game as linear (alongside Asylum).

The Unjustly Forgotten Batman: Arkham Origins Deserves A Resurgence

Despite certain flaws, Batman: Arkham Origins is a splendid entry in the legendary Arkham series and deserves better than being forsaken.

lellkay289d ago (Edited 289d ago )

It's the worst of the three in my opinion, but still really enjoyable. Definitely underated and gets far more crap that it deserves.

Should be included with the other Arkham games in the bundle.

Demetrius289d ago

I'm honestly enjoying it alot, my first time playing since I just decided to get a Xbox 360 slim for 65$, I cop some other gems too tho, I went into Arkham origins not expecting better than Arkham city but it does deliver plus the guy who voices batman did a good job aiming for the young Bruce impression
