No, the author doesn't. The first year will see plenty of exclusives. I'm not even gonna bother looking up the links for the numbers, but there are far more coming to PS4 than XB1 in the first year, which is continuing the trend that started with the PS3 and 360.

I've always found it incredibly stupid for people to blow through a game in a handful of days and then get rid of it. Then they complain about it being too short, all the while they've skipped over copious amounts of content, skipped cutscenes that told the story, everything.

i wouldnt call the PS4 lineup lackluster. Id say it has more to prove with new unestablished titles. But they deserve a chance to be played like any new game that has potential to become a successful IP/franchise.

But like the article eludes to, all good things take time and having patience really is a virtue.

AC4 alone is over 100 hours and that's just the single player. The PS3/PS4 players get another 60 minutes of exclusive game play. Those that pre ordered the game get another couple hours of exclusive game play. There is a season pass open day one that already has DLC that is another 3 hours more of game play. Just this one game alone is going to take a few months. Plus, there is a multi player side.....

Both COD and BF4 are more multi player based games and those will go for a long time.

Killzone is known for both it's story and it's awesome online. So again, people will be very busy in that for a long time.

By spring 2014 we see Infamous Second Son and Watch Dgos.

You must be joking? perhaps if you dont game on PC as basically all of those free games are already released and have been for some time.

It's Knack and KZ alone in comparison to DR3, Killer Instinct, Forza 5 & Ryse when comparing AAA games.

AS i'm getting both consoles i can certainly say that whilst i'm looking forward to some games that WILL come down the road for PS4, XB1 certainly has a better first year ahead IMO..... With project spark, titanfall, fable legends, Halo 5 in the first year..... Any multi platform gamer must give MS some credit in amongst the mixed messaging etc.... MS have made some f-ups but the games coming in the first 12 months are looking good.

Infamous and The Order are looking promising though.

Couldn't the same be said about MS? I mean a lot of people think they have a strong launch line up, to which I concur, but after the launch then what? Outside of titan fall, what other exclusives do they have coming out announced next year, particularly in the 6 months after launch?

I just looked at GameStop's page for X1, and there are fewer titles listed past launch than the PS4 page, and most announced titles are multi-plat AND multi-gen. I'll concede that may not be the best source, but I haven't really been keeping up on X1 exclusive release dates or what they have to offer after launch.

Sony surprisingly doesn't have a very strong retail line up first party wise. But that's why they have Indies and plenty of free to play games which will keep most busy.

I would really like to know, because by all lists I've seen, even excluding indies, Sony still seems to have more 1st and 3rd party exclusives announced coming out post release than MS does at this point. Maybe I missed something, but TitanFall seems to be the only one with a release date.

The author lost credibility when he said that watchdogs was the most commonly pre ordered game for the PS4 when it's actually 5th and the most commonly pre ordered games for both PS4 and X1 are (Ghosts) multuplats including watchdogs, which is a title both consoles lost. The same points can be made for both consoles, the most anticipated X1 title doesnt come out till march and second son comes around the same for the PS4. I wouldn't take this article serious.

In typical Microsoft fashion, they paid third parties to develop games for them, and we'll have to see how long that strategy holds up throughout this cycle. MS doesn't exactly have that many exclusives lined up post launch either, whether it be 1st or 3rd or indie or F2P, so I'm not sure why you're singling out Sony on this.

As far as "positive future", I think Sony is showing a really positive present with their PS3 to show they support their systems. That speaks volumes over the long term prospects of the console as opposed to the first few months, which still have plenty of games to play.

You also seem to think that the only thing people play is exclusives. That isn't the case, and overall there is plenty of multi-plat fun to be chosen from at launch, and the first 6 months, and likely the first year.

Yes MS hs more Retail launch exclusives, but out of all of 4, which seems to have the most positive press going for it? Forza 5. Dead Rising 3 is hit or miss, Killer Instinct is in questionable hand, and while Ryse looks beautiful in cut scenes, actual game play is not even remotely classified as decent.

There is plenty to play at launch for both.

The one game out of them all that I absolutely must have is The Order 1886. I could care less about BF4, COD, or Titanfall. The Order is a game designed for me. I want a 3rd person action game set around 1900. I freaked out when I saw the trailer at E3. I'd buy the PS4 for that game alone. I´m a very pacient man,also lucklly for me the exclusives are not my most expeceted games in the next year ,the multyplats will fill my hunger for awesome videogaming experiences with titles like The Division and The Witcher 3 and destiny,and of course the new Metal Gears....

Sigh 2014 is going to be amazing,so waiting for titles that are still in the secret labs at Sony wont be so hard...
