Why is anyone surprised the graphics are dated? This is a really old engine and Activision is simply too cheap to start a new. This is what happens when you become complacent with a top selling franchise that the media gives a pass on with high marks which each and every sequel release. They are simply riding this into the ground with as minimal upgrades as possible.

I love COD for what it is, a fast twitch run and gun game that's easy to pick up and play. After seeing this video I doubt I will even rent it. I held out a little hope it would be decent but this is worse than even I thought it was going to be.

I know PS4 can run games theoretically at 1080p and most games will run native 1080p but I doubt this will as its still the same old engine despite what the developers say they have just added a HD texture pack on top which demands a LOT of raw power. ^traditionally that is the case...multiplayer gaming has to layer all the netcode on the cpu...taxing the cpu more so than a single player environment 'usually' does (that is a game by game basis though, some single player games are hell on a cpu as well)...the higher cpu usage will then dig in to draw calling, which is the information compiled on the cpu to be sent to the gpu for rendering...

so, in short, higher cpu usage via netcode results in less room for draw calls...which means details need to be reduced for the renderer...and the game doesn't look quite as good...

Not being an ass...but the archaic netcode of Ghosts is so old...i truly can't believe that it would tax even an iPhone's cpu...so, with this game, there really is no reason for the visuals to be turned down to the degree this video is showing...to me, that looks literally no different than a whole pile of current gen shooters...bf3 on ps3 looks better than that...despite running at a lower frame rate, but still...that is almost embarrassing...

This looks pretty awesome aside from some of the minor glitches shown. It's evident IW put a lot of energy into making sure that the game is fluid while keeping the niche CoD feel. The only thing that's sad is that Activision continues to play it safe with these compressed textures, but then again that may be the result of the manner in which the X1 processes it's textures. It would be pretty cool if Sony and MS could make graphical upgrades to these games for their respective consoles.

This looks like CoD4 I cant spot a graphical difference in any shape or form. That is kind of bad. This is the only game on next-gen consoles I cant tell the difference between it being 360/ps3 or xb1/ps4. Those of you complaining about grhics and saying this doesn't look next gen, well it was made with current gen in mind! It's not a true next gen game, can't you realize that? The majority if CoD sales will come with current gen no doubt, not on PS4 or X1. True next gen games are ones that are made for PS4 and/or X1 only, not for current gen and next gen consoles. This cannot be the final build. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare on the PS3 looks better than this crap. I paused the video a few times to look at how pretty it looks, big mistake. It was like looking at what you think is a hot girl from behind but then she turns around and then you shiver and run away. Pause it at 2:42 to see what I mean.

I am praying that this is a case of mistaken identity. Like they said it was the PS4 but actually it is the PS3 version and an extremely old build. If it is the PS4 version then I'm renting it to see for myself. If it still sucks then I'm a loyal Battlefield fan from here on out.

I remember one of the reasons that MS wanted to slow used game sales on the X1 when it was revealed was that they where trying to help out great hardworking Developers who where losing money on used game sales. Clearly Infinity Ward is one of those Devs who deserve every cent they make and more, I mean it takes tremendous skill to make a game look and play like it came out in 2008 when it's actually 2013 almost 2014. I think people have this misconception on how good next gen is going to look. Being mainly a PC gamer I can tell you that next gen is literally going to look no better than what PC has been doing for the last few years.

Also PC has been taking ports of console games and just uping the resolution , AA, and texture quality. I am sure that is how it will work when taking a game made on prior gen and moving it to next gen. CODs engine was made for prior gen so thinking it was going to look insanely better is a bit misguided.

Most people aren't comparing Next-Gen graphics to PC graphics. They are comparing current-gen to next-gen. In NBA 2K14 the graphics leap is like going from PS2 to PS3. In Call of Duty it literally looks like they took a step backwards. And you can't say that it's a shooter so it's different. KZSF looks way better than KZ3. Ryse looks way better than DMC. Infamous: SS looks way better than Infamous 2. This is Call of Duty. They said they built a new engine from the ground up. They either lied or they F'd up really bad.

Wish I could be as sly as the COD devs, no matter how lazy they are they know they can rehash and resell the game every year and it will always be a top seller regardless of all the negative reviews from the gamers. Looks about as impressive graphically as Titanfall, after seeing Titanfall at EB's Expo, the game looks great, but is NO better than this graphically. The best looking FPS for these next gen consoles, & the best looking next gen game in general is Killzone:SF's single player campaign. Apart from those, Forza & Driveclub are the only other 2 I've seen at this stage (by seen, I mean actually seen in person) that look to be partially taking advantage of new hardware. People need to understand, that developers are rushing these initial games, especially launch games. My PS4 will have this game as company, 90% of the tools on here commenting as if they won't buy it, are the same tools responsible for buying the last 6 on PS3 or 360, while truly different & great games were ignored & many awesome developers died because of it. You people should practice what you preach, at least I admit I buy & will continue to buy future COD's, as long as they don't turn to complete sh1t....But more importantly I buy EVERY great game that I enjoy that genre of, games like Twisted Metal, Starhawk, MAG, Socom, Okami, Ico, SOTC, Primal, Darksiders, etc, etc, are all great AAA+ games that were wiped out by these overhyped, over marketed, year to year sequel spawning, HUUUGE shooters, sports & such mainstream games. Start supporting the little-er developers & the ones that can't afford 100million marketing campaigns, read some reviews & start making some purchases that aren't heavily influenced by what your gay lover is buying & playing...You can separate from the hip sometimes, & go & play a game that doesn't fit everyone elses criteria, but fits your own instead. It's easy to follow the herd, & safe when you know where your going, but it's more fun to be surprised, shocked, scared & gives you a better sense of satisfaction. The problem these days is that kids think multiplayer is THE ONLY form of gameplay, as an old fart gamer, I know they are missing out, as many of us grew up & bought games like Resident Evil, not knowing what we were in for as it was a new, unproven IP & genre, & WOW...what times they were.. I don't see this anymore...Sure, there are still gems, but they are from already established genre's & usually rely on multilayer, take Resident Evil nowadays, it is multiplayer & co-op & all that other bulletpoint sh1t, focused, which in turn, means it's not very focused at all, thus it's declining, no dwindling sales, & less than stellar gameplay.
