Battlefield 5 Will Have “More features. More extras. More destruction;” No Military Adviser for BF4

The massively anticipated and hyped Battlefield 4 is just around the corner, but what does the future hold for the series? Will there be a Battlefield 5? And how will it be? EA DICE Producer Patrick Bach dropped some hints, also explaining that there are no military advisers for Battlefield 4, as authenticity took a back seat to fun.

More Fish AI confirmed.

Call of Duty will be dethroned in 2015.

zeee3830d ago (Edited 3830d ago )

EA should consider skipping BF5 and bring in BC3. Also, I wish they were to remake Desert Strike. Same mechanics but with muuuuccchhh better graphics. I used to love it back in Sega Genesis days!

Off topic: I am a huge Sega hardware fanboy. Am I alone? Say Hi to me if you'd proudly call yourself a Sega console fanboy :D Would love to make some new friends who experienced the golden age of gaming!

bryam19823830d ago

I'm sure bf6 will have even more of the article mentioned

C0LLAT3830d ago

I'm just happy with 64 players at 60 fps 900p up scaled to 1080 for ps4.

0ut1awed3830d ago (Edited 3830d ago )

While I'll still buy BF4 (probably wait for the $30 gamestop deal if true though) the core BF series might be dead to me. I've been playing it since 1942 and was scared after BF3 that it would be going in this direction.

Don't get me wrong BF3 was a good game and I put a decent amount of time into it (as BF4 will probably be too). It's just becoming a little too generic for me to consider them TRUE Battlefield successors.

I blame it on EA though. Pretty sure they saw the COD $ train and said "Dice do that or else!"

And WTF do you think military advisors are going to do for a game that is not really realistic? Leave that for Arma (No, I'm not hatting on Arma. I love the game and have put over 200 hours into the Arma 3 alpha/beta/full game).

For the love of god Dice, just don't screw up BC3 or Battlefront and we can call it even.

andrewer3830d ago (Edited 3830d ago )

It's just EA being EA. I gave up on them sometime ago, eventually everybody will too :/

Feralkitsune3830d ago

What exactly is wrong with BF4? I felt BF4 was way more of a BF game just from the beta than BC-BF3.

0ut1awed3830d ago (Edited 3830d ago )

^^

I'm just judging the beta here but I'm confused on how you could NOT see how similar BF4 is to BF3.

There are very few differences I notice. Commander mode, better water technology, and skyscraper destruction that is completely predefined so it isn't actual real time.

All the other additions are miniscule. Even the art style is basically the exact same.

I'm just not sure how you see the game being so drastically different when such small changes are made in comparison.

BISHOP-BRASIL3830d ago

I'm not wading in as I have not played the beta that much, but that whole skycrapper destruction... It's not even new, just scripted destruction of a large object, like the antenna tower in Caspian Border (but, obviously, much more detailed)... I don't get the hype there either.

nsignific3830d ago

@bishop-br the difference being the scyscrapper event SIGNIFICANTLY changes the level layout, whereas the caspian border tower only removes a single sniping spot.

Matt6663830d ago

well said man and I think Dice would do even better if they didn't gave EA breathing down there necks.

Feralkitsune3829d ago (Edited 3829d ago )

"I'm just not sure how you see the game being so drastically different when such small changes are made in comparison."

DUH it's similar it's a game in the same series. But, it also improved on a ton of stuff that BF3 did wrong. The classes make a ton more sense, the maps seem to be a great deal better than the vanilla maps in BF3, the bullets aren't rubberbanding like crazy, ability to lean over, or around cover, weapons are deadly once again and don't feel like rubber bullets. The vehicles control a great deal better, battlelog can be accessed in game now. Movement feels much less floaty, you can counter knives from the front, they made it harder for snipers to run around and snipe (unless the remove the scope all together), all in all most things are majorly improved over BF3.

Graphics are not what make a shooter what it is, and it seems that the only thing you can criticize is the art style, so I can't take your criticism as anything but Ad Populum.

I was one of the people who was highly critical of BF3, but they really have made a much better game this time around from what I played in the outdated beta.

0ut1awed3829d ago (Edited 3829d ago )

Most if not all of the stuff you reference is stuff that could be added in via DLC, hints why I compared it to COD.

Battlelog isn't any different for me, the whole game still runs through the game browser (on the PC). Leaning around corners seems like a useless addition. I never once found myself in a intense firefight where I actually took up the time to use it. It just doesn't flow into gameplay well enough to actually use it. The vehicles seem to control pretty much the same to me as do your character models but I guess that's my opinion. I always play hardcore and given the absence of hardcore in the beta, it actually felt like the bullets were made out of rubber in BF4 in comparison.

And just for the record, I didn't disagree with you. It takes a troll statement for me to actually hit the disagree button.

Hey now EA has Titanfall setup for 2014, Battlefront for 2015, and Bad Company 3 for 2016. BF5 won't come until 2017 on Frostbite 4.0.

FunkMacNasty3830d ago

I hope so, but this line had me worried: "there are no military advisers for Battlefield 4, as authenticity took a back seat to fun".

If authenticity truly does take a backseat to fun, then Battlefield will, over the course of a few more installements, just become another brainless, mindless, casual shootfest full of jerks who don't know how to play the game.

I'm sorry but the brainy strategy, tactical team-play,is REALLY what sets Battlefield apart.

*More more more! How do you like it, how do you like it? More more more!*

More is always good.

imXify3830d ago

Calm yo tits Dice. Release BF4 and then we'll talk.

Pandamobile3830d ago

He was answering a question from an interviewer...

TheSsus3830d ago

Agreed. Much rather hear about Battlefront 3 and Mirrors Edge 2.

Globox20123830d ago

Battlefield will eventually take the crown, Unless CoD comes out roaring after Ghosts. Will be interesting to see.

InTheZoneAC3830d ago

too me BF took the crown when 2 came out, regardless of CoD...

xc7x3830d ago

i too want BFBC3,but i thought original director / producer moved on elsewhere,so i suspect it'll be another BF3-BF4 clone if thats the case :-\

JBaby3433830d ago

I agree with you guys. I loved BC and BC2 but was pretty let down with Battlefield 3. It felt like COD with vehicles to me. The whole feel of it changed. I think Battlefield 4 with be similar. I would love to get a BC3 though.

DeadlyFire3830d ago

EA says Bad Company 3 won't happen until Mirror's Edge 2 and Battlefront are done. So I am thinking 2016 we could see it coming.

Battlefield 1, Hardline, BF4 Servers Are Being Taken Offline by Cheaters; EA Silent on Issue

Cheaters & hackers have been causing grief on Battlefield 1, Hardline & BF4 servers, with nonstop DDoS attacks among other things. Unfortunately, EA has remained silent about it.

-Foxtrot749d ago

Course they are silent, they are hoping people flock to 2042

gamesftw250748d ago

Maybe it was a inside job then haha.

jeromeface748d ago

wouldnt be the first time, titanfall 1+2 anyone?

PapaBop748d ago

Not even if they paid me.. EA always do this with old games with less money potential, if this was Ultimate Team, they'd address and sort it faster than stories could spread. Why invest time in their products when they will just dump it in the following years? Then again EA never could see the forest for the trees.

Inverno748d ago

I imagine after those games were given out for free a couple months back through Amazon, anything that makes people go to 2042 is a plus for them

XiNatsuDragnel749d ago

They want people to go on 2042. My theory

excaliburps748d ago

Nah. I think they can't do anything about it or they want to sink money into fixing it.

Pudge102888748d ago (Edited 748d ago )

EA owns all BF servers so yes, they can do something about it but they refuse to because they dont want ppl playing their old games instead of the new one. Its EA we’re talking about here

pr33k33748d ago

if this happened in 2042, they'd have something to say. which is weird, considering battlefield 1 has more players on steam right now.

Pudge102888748d ago

Its so obvious that EA is doing this or hired ppl to mess up the games so that we’d be forced to have just 1 Battlefield working.

FPS_D3TH748d ago

Honestly it’s probably the devs themselves. They did an update to bf4 way back that kinda made assault rifles doo doo in hopes that people would flock to BF1 cuz BF4 was too perfect

There's a bunch of great shooters on gamepass; both legacy and new.

A recommendation I have is a work in progress preview title called Anacrusis. It's a lot of fun, and has a cool aesthetic.
