PS4 demo units are being distributed to stores around the world to let people finally get their hands on the coveted upcoming console, and videos are starting to surface for those that don’t have a store nearby.

its not what YOU'RE putting it to be. people are being upset by their own expectations cerny said that it was a family game and that it would still be challenging for gamers who want to up the difficulty. it was overhyped because it's one of only three exclusive "AAA" launch titles (now only two after driveclub was delayed).

we all know from this gen that sony can deliver on exclusive so not so concerned especially when infamous second son is on the horizon. so does this mean that ps4 launch titles are weak? the answer is no and heres why...

Have you played Knack yet? I was hopeful, but what you see is what you get. The game isn't as charming as I hoped.

Although I only got to play 10 minutes or so, my verdict is the gameplay lacks depth and won't appeal to hardcore gamers.

But I digress, it's possible there's some secret sauce or element left out of the demo that's not accounted for.

it not a AAA Mega killer shooter with graphics that nerds cum over every time they look at it. its a f'ing plattformer it looks as good as it can without going over to realism.

Its like people forget about great platformers like Daxter, Jak and Daxter, Crash Bandicoot, Gex, Banjo Kazooie, Sly etc.

You know what I'm glad that Cerny is brave enough to produce a game in a near extinct genre.

I wouldn't go and compare knack to crash or jack. Knack is more like a kids game . It's not a bad game but it's not aiming for what jack and crash aim especially when you see the simple gameplay of knack.

If they make the gameplay more complicated then it's alright to compare .

I'm not disagreeing but that's how i see knack. I'm not buying it for that reason.

I agree that Knack doesn't seem to quite fit in the same category as Crash and Jak, but, I still think it looks interesting and will probably be relatively fun for a lot of different people. I won't buy it right at launch like some other games, but I'm sure I'll pick it up a little ways down the road.

I preordered knack and well as KZ: shadowfall, and am looking forward to playing both of them. I happen to like many genres, and I like platformers, I am glad someone is still making them besides "just Nintendo"
or I wouldn't have the opportunity to play a good platformer. (nintendo bores me)

Everybody judges games in that regard to some extent man. My judgement is that it looks lacklustre, been there,done that. Hopefully it proves me wrong but either way I won't be picking it up for £50, I'll get it 2nd way down the line if it intrigues me.
There is nothing about it that says next-gen to me.
I would probably have felt better about it if Cerney hadn't been stuffing it down everyone's throats as his big launch title. I want AAA KZSF graphics to be at the forefront of the nextgen push... Obviously this is just my opinion and many others see things very differently, that's all cool. But for me,this is about as far from system seller as you get.

You must not buy many games then, because the vast majority fall into the Been There Done That category, especially shooters, which is the most popular genre. It's rare that anything truly unique comes along, and when it does it doesn't sell nearly as well as games like CoD that offer the same experience every single time they release.

Knack looks like what it is, a family friendly action adventure/platformer.

KZSF looks great but I think the real system seller is going to be The Order 1886 just like Ryse will be for the XB1. Hopefully they drop relatively soon. Knack's gameplay reminds me of Spyro's very simplistic gameplay. It's great for the younger gamers and for a family game like Cerny said but I don't think it's worth the $60 price tag. I predict this will be one of those games that gets a price drop rather quickly or it will quickly go on sale for PS+ members.

they can't show M rated games as part of demos, an employee had to explain it to them right there, it's due to kids being around the game, if we only had a system that it would kick kids from M-rated games, it would be lovely.

I'm sure Sony don't think it appropriate to have mature-rated shooters being played on kiosks that are right next to family-friendly games, in stores where kids are going to be with their parents.

The xbox 360 demoed Call of Duty 2 prior to its console launch. Wii U had Zombie U as a playable demo at the Walmart near me prior to its console launch. KZ single player wouldn't be that bad for a 5 minute demo. What about Contrast and it's suggestive sexy shadow lady scene? I'd rather my kid see some guns and blood then suggestive or sexual content. My kid has nerf guns and pretends he's an army soldier. I think he can handle a 5 minute demo of KZ. I'm pretty sure most kids, boys anyways, from the age of 4 and up have some kind of toy gun. The parents should decide if the kid plays it or not but I don't see too much harm coming from watching a 5 minute demo. So y just dropped the ball on this one. For now. Or maybe they felt they didn't need to demo it because of how many preorders they have for both the console and the game.

SSX 3 was not a PS2 launch title, SSX debuted on the PS2 launch, and not for nothing when did we ever have such a stellar launch lineup for any console? But Sony does have a good lineup when you co sider all the multiplat games available at launch plus the psn games that will be launching as well.

playing ssx3 for the first time was a very special gaming moment for me ..the look and feel of the board on the snow was very good... then that series took an unfortunate turn. I suppose the train on uncharted 2 was this gens equivalent moment ... I wonder what it will be on PS4 ? not this jump tumble and splat game for sure ..although it might be good ...the controller looks very nice.

Actually, comparing this launch window to those from previous generations, the games for both PS4 and XB1 are very decent.

I remember when PS2 launched. I picked up the original Dark Cloud and the Orphen game. Those were pretty terrible.

That's why I never judge a system by launch titles. It takes a few years for games to be made that make the most out of the hardware.

Knack does look quite good, i just hate when bitter ppl try so hard to judge a game by saying oh it looks identical to current gen, everything ive seen so far from next gen and compared to current gen looks superior to me, pixels, polygons, textures, physics, draw distance, lightning,etc.

Knack graphics are great . It have it's own original art. But what i don't like about it is the gameplay. That's why i think the game is for kids or play with family ( i'm not one of those so no buy ).

Yeah i was talking about graphics wise, even fifa 14 next gen may not be a huge improvement from fifa14 current gen but ive compared both side by side and the next gen version looks better, some guy cancelled his pre order over fifa 14 and knack cause he said "it looks identical to current gen" everyone else that played the games at their game shops said they were excited to get their hands on ps4 and its games whenever they pick one up on launch day.

Contrast looks very intriguing. I'm not really impressed with the rest of the line up, however. Until, infamous and drive club come out, Killzone appears to be the only exclusive 'next gen' title on ps4.

I'm very disappointed in knack. The graphics are fantastic, but the gameplay looks stale. The brutally linear level design should have gone the way of the dodo with the ps1. It reminds me of the werewolf levels in sonic unleashed... ugh.

it seems like knack has that simplicty I miss in games. most modern games don't have that simplicty there either open world or competition based. this reminds me of games back in the day where everything was simple but alot of fun. this is why im gonna rent this game. I would buy it but funds are low getting killzone BF4 and ac4 but i want to play this game.

I make my own decisions when it comes to spending my money. I know it may be shocking to you, but not everyone shares your tastes in games. The first demo kiosks always have a very limited number of games prior to launch. There are more demos added up to launch and during the launch window. Don't know why so many people look at the beginning of something and only see the beginning as the end. These kiosks are just starting to roll out, give them a couple of weeks. After that, it's launch anyway.

I like how some fools just mentioned Crash like it was some deep, 15 buttoned act of brain surgery...Crash was as simple as gaming gets, & that was part of the reason it was so awesome.....All you did was jump & spin fools, so why the hell are you saying Knack is simple, compared to Crash, as obvioulsy you haven't even played Crash, let alone Knack. Crash Bandicoot got it's credit for it's simple precise gameplay, awesome level design, & unbelievable graphics for the time...It was a 2.5D platformer that only required 2 or 3 face buttons to play. I played Dead Rising 3 & many other next gen games at Sydneys E3 Expo, & Knack had more going for it than most. Dead Rising 3 was the most under whelming, graphically dissapointing, gameplay repetitious game in the series, Ryse was great looking from 30mtrs away, then you got up close & it was only slightly more impressive than a 360 game visually & the gameplay was baby pool shallow, Killzone:SF's online gameplay looked dumbed down compared with single player (maybe it was just the map) & it seemed slow & not 60fps, the 2 best looking games were Driveclub & Forza.....so if Knack is dissapointing a lot of you people, then cancel your pre-orders & don't bother with next gen until games evolve into deeper 15 button bohemoths....Just keep playing your games as deep as Crash Bandicoot, COD:12, & such, as the next gen is not ready for you yet. I'll be getting Knack, I played it for a short time & was impressed enough to want to play more, it was also quite challenging.
