The new Ryse build still shows some flaws mainly screen tearing

Screen tearing was the biggest culprit for effecting the Image Quality of PS3/360 games. Microsoft’s Albert Penello confirmed that the new Ryse trailer is entirely from a new build that runs on Xbox One with the upgraded CPU/GPU. It looks exceptional for sure. Unfortunately, as it turns out, it doesn’t seem to be completely free from screen tearing.

........so done with these articals...less than a month baby ps4/xbox in livingrooms we can all judge then.

that said screen tearing? i belive it.
what i cant belive is watchdogs delay. dam i wanted that day1 that was gunna be my midnight snack game! guess risogun will do and kz and 2k and contrast and knack prolly and ac and some other ps+ bonus freegames. should keep me occupied along with bf and r&c.

snipab8t3832d ago

The still images don't give the game justice, the graphics on the new gameplay trailer look great.

Kingthrash3603832d ago

tbh trailers will never show tearing or framedropping or any other flaws. so as i said we can judge when released.

Eonjay3832d ago

But,what is this game about?

black0o3832d ago

the trailer shows like 10% of gameply and 90% of cut-scenes, let us wait for 22nd ;)

Foxgod3832d ago

@Eonjay,

Thats explained in the trailers, greedy bastards made rome weak and corrupt, the Son of rome wants to restore it to former glory, and takes up arms against his own empire.

Autodidactdystopia3832d ago

My, the tension in these ryse articles since the new trailers is palpable.

one look at the ratio of agrees/disagrees depending on who's complimenting the game, you can see who's upset here.

geez

Im a major pc derp derp and this game looks nuckinfutz.

Only person you are lying to is yourself.

you know who I'm talking to...

NeoTribe3832d ago

Trailers don't prove much. You ever watch a awesome movie trailer, just to find out the movie sucks... that's what ryse is going to be more than likely.

GameNameFame3832d ago

Kinda silly looking at Cutscene trailer with very little game play to what graphics is like.

But wasnt graphic already downgraded to 900P?7

Gozer3832d ago

Ryse is easily the best looking next-gen title so far. All the hate it receives from the sony crowd is a testament to that fact. It looks like the sony loyalist of N4G has already arrived in this article. Why don't you guys stay on your side of the fence? Just cant except the fact that the X1 has the best looking games in Ryse and Forza 5.

JokesOnYou3832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

Yeah I'm a realest no doubt it will have flaws, last gen off the top of my head MY FAVORITE GAMES like original Mass Effect, Bioshock, COD4, Crackdown, Gears 1&2, God of War 3, Uncharted 2, Alan Wake, Assassin Creed 1&2, Batman AC, Ninja Gaiden 2&3 and even Halo3&4 were ALL FLAWED, hell if a occasional screen tear bothers you good luck enjoying games. Small things like this have never concerned me I just need it to achieve a high level of quality in gameplay where its not anything annoying, quality story, quality graphics, and overall quality production value and I'm in....lol my standards are so low zoomed in screenshots of a few missing pixels, blade of grass, funky shadow doesnt make me wish I never paid for the game, ssshhh I know shocking isn't it?

Is it juist me or does the new build does look miles better than the old build.

awesomeperson3832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

Nope, it certainly does.

Crytek have done an amazing job, graphically. I for one am not buying an Xbox One, but Ryse looks to me as one of the most graphically impressive games at launch of either console.

The environment's aren't anything special, but the character models are all very lifelike. I think what really helps the game is the facial animation - really brings it to life.

If we're getting results like these this early in the generation, it bodes well for the next 5 or so years.

EDIT: Oh, but I am still highly dubious of the gameplay surrounding Ryse. I don't believe it's really up to standard, from the impressions I've heard.

I think it'll be a showcase of graphics for Xbox, but nothing really more.

WarThunder3832d ago

Nope. E3 build had better textures and polycounts.

awesomeperson3832d ago

I still think as a whole this build looks more impressive. Could be the lighting?

I understand it's likely carefully picked segments of the game which look the best - but give credit where credit is due.

I also think being 900p (versus 1080p) definitely helped the game reach the standard of graphics we're seeing.

There's a good chance I won't be buying an Xbox for a while (maybe not this gen unless Microsoft radically changes), but I can respect when there's a nice looking game over there.

Don't let fanboyism cloud your judgement as a gamer.

bjmartynhak3832d ago

It does, way better now

And it is just one screen tearing before release, who knows if it will be present at launch or how frequent it will appear

NeoTribe3832d ago

Looks worse. Less color, more brown and black. They kinda went killzone 2 with it.

MizTv3832d ago

Well I give it up to them
They do make very good looking games

PFFT3832d ago

It does look better.

Funantic13832d ago

The old build was dark and way less detailed. The new build is vivid.

MorePowerOfGreen3832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

It's the newest build. We have close communication with the development of this game over on reddit. Yes it looks better as it is a different build from the polygon change build.

Game is almost finished. This article is damage control.

The story trailer build is a bigger jump than the Polygon build was from the E3 build.
http://i.minus.com/i9tqk6Il...

Again there is no asset difference between gameplay or cutscene. The only thing that is different between player control gameplay and cutscene, is the CPU takes control of the camera angles and takes over the gameplay gameplay and crafts it into a cutscene.

Bigpappy3832d ago

It looks better because the BW is used to give better lighting, cloth physics and effects. The first on was pushing more polies, but lacked those other details. We get a smoother frame rate here too.

Mystogan3832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

Lol look at the disagrees. Damn Ponys are all up in here. Why don't you stay on your side and enjoy your knack or octodad whatever and we stay on our side and enjoy our games?

X1 games look amazing and that pisses the ponys off, because there is nothing else that comes close to Forza,Ryse,Blacktusks game or quantum break on the PS4.

Looks like Microsoft Studios are going all out this Gen. All the first party games are looking amazing. Ryse is the only not-first party X1 that looks just as amazing as the first party games.

I consider Remedy first party. They've been with Microsoft for so long Microsoft might as well make it official. Which wouldn't surprise anyone.

The thing I hate most is screen tearing
It just bothers me
But if I really like a game I can deal with it but it still sucks

Volkama3832d ago

@eonjay You have to save a princess by doing a animal impressions in the batmobil. You're right, that's not too clear from the details and trailers we've seen :-)

2cents3832d ago

So where are these other supposed flaws as the title suggests?

One of the 'some flaws' being the supposed screen tearing, I think the other great flaw is the journalistic skills on demonstration.

I love the "we've reached out to penello" line, because obviously it's such an evident issue... Not.

medziarz3832d ago

Killzone all the way - gonna knock the c*** out of CoD and BF
PS+ - Resogun, Contrast, Drive Club later
AC4 - pirates, open-sea !!!

Mystogan3832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

I gotta see more about this Killzone thing. killzone always looked like a wannabe halo to me. But fails miserably at it.
obviously I haven't seen enough new trailers because PS4 fanboys keep bringing it up, even in Xbox articles. They must have done something new...

ShwankyShpanky3832d ago

And Halo was a wanna-be Unreal Tournament dumbed down for consoles. And?

heliumhead20303832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

I agree dude. I'm no tech noob but I literally do not notice screen tears in real time let alone in this GIF in this article. People just need to get over. That's what the games looks like. Why is everyone so mad about it. There's nothing to fault or argue

jc485733832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

Not sure if MS has one, but one of the things I like about Sony is that they have an engineer team (known as ICE Team) that is specialized in creating the necessary software and tools for developers (mainly first and second parties) to use. I mean if Ryse is going to be published by MS Studios, shouldn't MS insure that the game runs smoothly on the xboxone by aiding Crytek?

Those are some ugly screen tears btw.

thereapersson3832d ago

"mainly first and second parties"

Yep, that's why PS3 exclusives are always so much more optimized and superior looking when compared with multiplatform games.

Foxgod3832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

Ms has multiple studio,s that aid other developers.
They also helped capcom with dead rising 3.

Also, Ms has more experience then any other company out there with developing environments, theres a reason that MS their C++ and DirectX are so popular.

Why do sony fans always break out bull arguments to make sony look good...

Also, if you have to slow a game down to actually see a screen tear, then its hardly something to criticize.

Hellsvacancy3832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

You say "Also, Ms has more experience then any other company out there with developing environments

Then you say "Why do sony fans always break out bull arguments to make sony look good"

Pot calling the kettle what?

" if you have to slow a game down to actually see a screen tear, then its hardly something to criticize" that is VERY true admittedly, I didn't notice it, I barely noticed it in the gif

Foxgod3832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

There is no pot kettle, its a fact, wheres your counter argument?
Did you forget that MS is a software house, and that visual studio is among the most advanced developing suites?

And that MS its C environment dates back to the starting of home computing and is among the most used?

And since that all is a fact, it automatically means that their arguments are blatantt lies to make sony look good.

Ezz20133832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

"Ms has more experience then any other company out there with developing environments"

how is that a fact ?!
i just read that from a developer about ps4:
""Simply put, it’s the smartest development environment that we’ve ever seen,”"" - Lanning said
http://www.ign.com/articles...
and that
s just one of them

so i ask again , how is your opinion a fact ?!

solidboss073832d ago

No. Sony exclusives make 'Sony look good'.

DragonKnight3832d ago

@Foxgod: "Why do sony fans always break out bull arguments to make sony look good..."

Except A) It's not a bull argument, it's a fact that Sony has the ICE Team helping out devs and that Sony first party games on the PS3 are superior to multiplatform games and B) jc48573 said he wasn't sure if Microsoft had an equivalent team, meaning he didn't know, meaning he wasn't trying to make Microsoft bad since he didn't know.

What's actually happening is you got butthurt thinking someone was insulting your precious Microsoft and you had to go on a tantrum because of it.

Also, C++ is not Microsoft's. They have a version called Visual C++ but the basic language is not there's as there are other versions such as Intel C++ and C++ wasn't created by Microsoft.

Trekster_Gamer3832d ago

They are just Trolls that are part of the Sony propaganda machine. Jealous of the superior games for the Xbox One.

ShwankyShpanky3832d ago

"Also, Ms has more experience then any other company out there with developing environments, theres a reason that MS their C++ and DirectX are so popular."

Ah yes, the old "but MS invented DirectX!"

MS's engineers are unparalleled... Is that why Crytek was "helping them try to decipher those pipelines?"

DragonKnight3832d ago

@Gozer: You just pretty much summed up every Xbox One fanboy in existence. You know, never reading anything, instantly just defending anything Xbox One even if it were a machine that committed rape homicides, and trying to silence any who don't bow down to your precious. 3 and counting.

Anonagrog3832d ago (Edited 3832d ago )

It's not just the ICE team involved with that. There's a 'tools & technology' group somewhere else in the U.S., though I don't know much detail on them, and there's Sony's 'Advanced Technology Group' in London looking at a lot of R&D.

Microsoft also have their own 'Xbox Advanced Technology Group' based out of Redmond. They do a similar thing to Sony's teams.

lifeisgamesok3832d ago

I could care less about a little screen tearing. What's important is the game being fun, having a decent story, and it's already visually impressive minus this minor problem

Some people just have to find something wrong to try to diminish value

The game still looks awesome

Its hot these days to blame America for virtually everything that goes wrong in the world.
Its a form of collective ignorance. scapegoating occurs only among the most ignorant.
Those are the kind of people that refuse to see structure and logics of a problem, and instead choose to have an easy way out, creating a black sheep.

It was a great game, it had issues but it can only go up from here.

crazyCoconuts615d ago

It was just ok. Looked really good for an Xbox game though

Snookies12615d ago

"for an Xbox game"

Way to subtly throw shade there. It looked amazing compared to any game at the time it was released.

Never played it myself though, wasn't really interested in it personally. Plus it came at a time when I didn't own an Xbox console. But it was at least different than the usual copy/paste games we get. So I hope it gets another chance sometime soon.

Crows90615d ago

It was a crytek game though

1nsomniac615d ago (Edited 615d ago )

It was a stunning game on all basis. One of the standout games for Xbox as a whole. I ended up buying on pc as well… and yes nothing looked better than it in PC at the time either. Nothing just ok about it, definitely needs a sequel.

fr0sty614d ago

@snookies12, don't pretend like the Xbox One didn't struggle with being gimpled by its tiny pool of ESRAM as a frame buffer. It was significantly weaker than the PS4.

crazyCoconuts614d ago

Metacritic 60, user score 6.4. I'm not alone in putting it into the "ok" category...

VenomCarnage89614d ago

@snookies
Haven't played it but at least you know enough to defend Xbox over it. The game did look good, for an Xbox game. That's not some "subtle shade," it's full on reality.
I remember it being nearly the only graphically decent game on the Xbone for like the first two years after launch, and graphics were that games strength

ManMarmalade614d ago (Edited 614d ago )

The qte's were disappointing though. God of war was doing it back in the ps2 days. As gorgeous as the game was, the gameplay needed to be updated.

annoyedgamer615d ago

I really liked the original Ryse but Crytek doesn't have the funds. The mismanaged their properties and let EA raid them with Crysis for the duration of their relationship. Right now they are working on Crysis 4, I doubt they can spare resources to work on a Ryse sequel.

gamer7804615d ago

It would have to be funded by MS, I really liked Ryse sure it got repetitive but the setting visuals and story were good

moriarty1889615d ago

MS should have funded a sequel to Ryse and Sunset OD. Two good franchises they definitely needed last gen.

annoyedgamer614d ago

MS is too busy trying to become the next EA, Ryse wont be on their list of titles to finance unless it gets a hipster makeover with lootboxes.

darthv72615d ago (Edited 615d ago )

I recently bought it for the steamdeck and have to say... 60fps is a game changer. I really wished MS had gotten a one x patch or series boost mode option but sadly, nope. Other games that definitely deserve a second chance (esp on steamdeck/pc) are quantum break and sunset overdrive. Both deserved 60fps support on one x / series but you have to go to PC for that.

Rumor has it Crytek had plans for a Ryse 2 but due to the low turnout for XB (at the time) it was shelved. They really should give this another shot. i dont care if its multiplat on PS and XB and PC and Switch... just so long as part 2 gets made.

babadivad614d ago

The game is automatically boosted on Series X

darthv72614d ago

sorry... but it's not. It still runs at the same fps the XBO did.

lelo2play615d ago

Game was good enough, not great.
Graphically it was top notch. Still holds well till this day.

Crows90615d ago

It only needed more enemy variety and few more movesets or weapons to use. That would have made the experience tons better.

This is not what I would call value for money spent. They give you quests in liveservice games to get you "re-engaged" with the monetization schemes or to get you hooked or so you at least spend some extra on skins and loot boxes. Then they dole out paltry points after you have already paid extra for whichever liveservice within a liveservice that you are already paying for. My worry is people can't actually be that stupid to fall for this, can they?

littletad620d ago

Absolutely nothing in this comment makes sense. At all.

anast620d ago (Edited 620d ago )

How does it not make sense? O thy god of reason, shine some evidence upon us. Ryse of Rome, ESO,and AC: Origins are all live service games, between them you can get 275 points. Liveservice games are made to keep people spending. Therefore, Gamepass is a live service and the points are for playing live service games.

It is not my problem that this does not make sense to you, it is absolutely your problem. I mean it is all your problem.

Julion0715620d ago (Edited 620d ago )
