Craig Sullivan, former creative director at Criterion, current creative director at Ghost Studios, is definitely very confident about his studio’s latest creation: Need for Speed: Rivals.

Good, the handling has been one of my main gripes with past NFS games. The cars were always too tail happy. The most recent Most Wanted game had awful handling.

bluelightspeed3841d ago

When I first started playing NFS, I agree that at first the handling left much to be desired but now that I've played through a few that trade mark heavy car feel is what I'm used to and love as I can quickly get accustomed to making the cars drift pretty effortlessly.

I hate when NFS tries to do "realistic" driving. I like the arcade style so much better, like in Hot Persuit, or Most Wanted on the Vita.

I lost interest in NFS for a while when they went that dumb ProStreet route.

Pintheshadows3841d ago

I totally agree. Pro Street was a mess in many many ways. The fact the handling was just plain bad (a prime sin for a racer) is the main one.

I really enjoyed Criterion's NFS games. I just wish they were allowed to make Burnout Paradise 2. That series is sorely missed.

NFS games were doing realistic driving way before hot pursuit and most wanted. I use to play NFS Porsche Unleashed way back in the day for PC and you had to customize every part of your car and during races you would take damage according to parts and how reckless you are. Was a very tough game because if you take too much damage and you dont have any money to repair or you dont win and get prize money earnings you cant compete and keep up. Many times I had to start over because I ran out of cars and couldnt repair them. Games use to much more challenging back then I use to like that now people complain all day about hard games and they are diluted and watered down.

Soldierone3841d ago

I love building the cars and the customization, I mean games like underground which let you do that were awesome.

I'm saying in terms of driving though. When NFS dives into things like feathering the brake, or not accelerating too fast, harsh turns, etc....they have almost always absolutely sucked at it.

In my personal opinion, I look to NFS for fun which is an arcade racer they over exaggerates things. If I wanted a simulator, I'd go elsewhere.

Been trying to play NFS Shift 2 Unleashed but the handling is so freaking bad

BTBuck13841d ago

the graphics look insane on this game, i have a feeling people are going to sleep on this game, and it's a shame because it looks awesome... i will be getting this day uno.

I can confirm that I saw it running at Gamescom and it looked amazing, especially with rain/weather effects.

Most wanted 2012 imo was awful, on PS3 the graphics are dreadful, and the crash cam was very annoying. Rival is the worst imo, hated that game. My favourite is Hot Pursuit, great game. Also Shift 1&2 are really good.

OnlyThoseOnTheFence1721d ago

High Stakes will always be my favorite. Great cars, great music, and you could see through the windows which was pretty mind-blowing at the time. Best of all it was ricer-free.

steven83r1721d ago

Lame. The list doesn't even include any of the originals. NFS 1 and NFS hot Pursuit 1998. Must be a youngster who created the list.

CYALTR1720d ago

He clearly stated that being this was an Xbox centered site he was going to limit his list to games that released on some form of Xbox. He also stated he had been playing them since OG PLaystation, so pretty sure he's not a "youngster"

From my personal experience NFS I personally don't like.......
The Worst : Underground 2 , Carbon, Prostreets, Undercover, Porche unleashed, Nitro, NFS World, 2012 Mostwanted, Rivals, 2015 Reboot last but not least Paycrap.
Best NFS I personally like :
All ps1 NFS : HighStakes (the best) including NFS 3 Hotpursuit , ps2 Hotpursuit 2 (Excellent game ) ..Underground ( Best so far)
2005 Mostwanted ( Excellent game) Shift 1/2 (Spectacular) remind me of GT , 2010 Hotpursuit Great game but race Waaaaaaay to long in my personal opinion . Last but not least The Run . these are my favorite NFS titles .
After The Run in my personal opinion NFS went down hill fast with Open world mapping crap, always online, multiplayer crap, alldrive, drifting in every freaking corners, no gripping anymore, autolog. None of this crapfest is NFS original formula. until Ea contract Ghost Games to return the original formula back in NFS it will always be Shitty game.
