Yes, yes, YEEEEEES! Her voice is part of Kingdom Hearts, I was worried she would not be singing the theme and Im truly happy she is

Lord_Sloth3837d ago

Agreed. Wonder how awesome it's gonna be this time.

M-M3837d ago

I don't even want to imagine how epic her theme song is going to be in KH3. I remember starting up Kingdom Hearts jut so I can hear the theme songs back in the PS2 era lol.

AiirJordann233837d ago

the most memorable theme song in gaming history I still listen to the simple and clean song

MidnytRain3837d ago

Simple and Clean is amazing.

Sevir3836d ago

"Simple and Clean" is amazing, but I absolutely love "Sanctuary"! Kingdom Hearts 2 is simply the best of the franchise and that theme song complimented that game in every way.

I'm so glad Utada reprises her role in singing the theme song. She's every bit apart of this franchise and legacy. She helped defined this franchise with her music!

Magicite3836d ago

Awesome! Totally loved her soundtracks in KH1and2. This is the kind of music every JRPG must have.

Wow, I'm surprised. I thought she didn't want to do the themes any longer because of having to do English and Japanese. They either offered her a good bit of money, or it's been long enough that she changed her mind.

Either way, I'm happy to hear it. Wouldn't feel the same with a different singer.

DragonKnight3837d ago

I can think of 2 other possibilities.

1. She's going to sing in Japanese and it'll be used for every version regardless of where it's released. Which is something no fan will have a problem with.

2. They're going to pull a Final Fantasy XIII and have some other singer that no one likes to do the English version.

Snookies123837d ago

Please... Just don't be option 2.... Lol.

DragonKnight3837d ago

I agree. Option 2 is the worst possible scenario.

KonsoruMasuta3837d ago

I don't see the issue since she is fluent in English. She can easily pull off a translation. It wouldn't really bother me since I speak Japanese, but I don't really see the problem. She has release full English albums before.

Snookies123837d ago (Edited 3837d ago )

@KonsoruMasuta - Well, the reason she gave for stopping the intros after Kingdom Hearts 2 was that the songs lost their feeling when translated literally from Japanese to English.

She definitely does well in English singing as well, but it seemed to be more of a personal issue she had with it. It's great she got back on board though. :]

Sarick3836d ago

"1. She's going to sing in Japanese and it'll be used for every version regardless of where it's released. Which is something no fan will have a problem with."

The second part about no fan having a problem with a Japanese only is pure opinion.

I happen to be English and listen to the words so I can understand the emotional value behind the song. If I don't understand the words it's just gibberish with a good beat that has no meaning.

This is where I'd disagree. Let's be honest I explained my disagree point in detail rather then simply clicking it and not explaining my reasoning.

I'm definitely not everyone. I can't speak for others but I can clearly speak for myself. I'd like to hear the English version that I can understand.

In my personal judgement a song loses emotional value if left untranslated. No matter how great it sounds if there is a story/meaning behind it in the lyrics understanding the words are at least 50% of the song.

DragonKnight3836d ago

@Sarick: Come on now, you know that if you had the choice between her singing it in Japanese or Miley Cyrus singing it in English, you'd pick the Japanese version. Come on, you can admit that.

Sarick3836d ago (Edited 3836d ago )

Why would Miley need to sing it when Hikaru Utada sounds great in English?

No real reason for her not to do the English version. She's already proven she can sing well in English. From my views she sounded better singing English then a native speaking vocalist.

My response comes down to the opinion you made about all fans not have a problem with the Japanese version.

Sure it'd stink for them to do option two but it'd also be my best interest to listen to her lyrics in words that I can understand.

So in that respect I choose none of the above and create my own.

3. She's going to be paid to sing it in multiple languages including English and Japanese versions.

"Come on now, you know that if you had the choice between her singing it in Japanese or Miley Cyrus singing it in English, you'd pick the Japanese version. Come on, you can admit that."

Like I'd have a choice at that point. I still disagree with this quote > "Which is something no fan will have a problem with." You see I'm not totally intransigent with your two listed possibilities.

My main point of disagreement is around that quoted portion attached to #1. It's pure conjecture because I'm a fan with a differing opinion.

Sounds great.

Still good.

ErryK3836d ago

A singer no one likes? Are you absolutely sure there are absolutely no people who like Leona Lewis and Charice? Your opinion is not everyone's and neither is it fact.

DragonKnight3836d ago

@ErryK: I bet you have all their albums right? Don't get your panties in a bunch, you know no one wants Leona Lewis or Charice singing the KH theme.

@Sarick: Just because she can sing in English doesn't mean she wants to, or that they'd use her to do so.

Sarick3836d ago (Edited 3836d ago )

"Just because she can sing in English doesn't mean she wants to, or that they'd use her to do so."

Like I said, my main point is the conjecture statement you made about fans not caring about the way she sings it.

I also pointed out some relevance that she can sing in multiple languages. In my views this brings into question a great disservice some people would feel if they choose not to do so.

Come on now, you know that its impossible to make a statement as fact when it's based on personal opinion. Did you notice that when I created the above comment I pointed out no diversity in my opinion on the last sentence?

I'm not totally bias or 100% right in the overall representative views of a majority or minority. I represent myself not some subjective evidence as pro rated status of superior opinion.

To put it bluntly, I'd like them to do an English version with her singing it if at all possible. To me it does matter. I realize others may have differing views or opinions that don't directly relate to mine. It's their god given right to decide for themselves not mine.

@ErryK: Then why the hell are you even commenting? I said they would pull an FF13, not that this was about FF13.

same here.. im shocked.. i thought she doesn't want to work with Disney anymore... anyway, this is good news! a new Utada Hikaru song is a celebration! :)

-Gespenst-3837d ago

I was hoping they'd put a new song in. The other two have been used in like every game.

BrotakuSan3837d ago

She is a good artist, can't wait to hear the song they use.

Eonjay3837d ago

Good news! How could she resist? She is the voice of Kingdom Hearts!

Final Fantasy XVI Has Finally Given Donald Duck A Worthy Opponent

For a long time, it's been widely accepted amongst Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts fans that Donald Duck is the most powerful mage ever to exist, mainly due to his use of the stupidly powerful Zettaflare spell towards the end of Kingdom Hearts 3. This spell is one step up from Teraflare, a spell which was used in Final Fantasy XIV that was so powerful that it completely wiped out the base game, giving the developers a canonical reason to let them bin everything and start again from scratch.

Now you're armed with this information, you can see how it was pretty surprising for Donald Duck of all characters to bust out Zettaflare and establish himself as the most powerful character in Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts lore. However, now that Final Fantasy XVI has arrived and delivered a whole new cast of characters, a new challenger has arrived to provide Donald with some much needed competition.

Final Fantasy's Strongest Canonical Magic User Is... Donald Duck?

Final Fantasy features many strong characters, but an unlikely character from Kingdom Hearts is able to cast the most powerful spell ever seen

gold_drake345d ago

Final Fantasy's strongest magic user is Donald Duck, who never appears in a final fantasy game.

This Kingdom Hearts Boss' Unpredictability Gave Me Sekiro Vibes

Kingdom Hearts is filled with otherworldly boss battles, but only one stands out like a phoenix dancing with ethereal grace across the night sky. Before we embark upon a discussion concerning Kingdom Hearts' exceptional boss battles, it may be prudent to first reflect on the evolution of the criteria for appraising video game bosses. This criterion has undergone a major metamorphosis over the past decade; one that owes much to the profound influence of From Software and its iconic Souls series.

"Yozora is much more than a grueling secret encounter; he is a reflection of what Kingdom Hearts' bosses should be"

No thank you. If every boss in Kingdom Hearts was like Yozora, the series would be unplayable. That's not to say that they shouldn't include such challenges, but making them fundamental to the game would be too much. And don't say that this is what the From Software games are, because Yozora is absolutely harder than most of the bosses in those games. He is waaay faster, has a ludicrous number of abilities (and does them in random order AND can chain most of them together), and punishes you severely if you make a mistake. On top of that, you have to survive this onslaught for a really long time because of how much health he has. It's borderline too much - for me at least. Still, it's a stunning battle.

OMNlPOTENT356d ago

I agree, while I do really enjoy the Yozora fight, I think it's far too difficult to be anything more than an optional boss. However, I do believe that there should be more bosses that are in the same weight and size class as Sora, as the majority of those in KH3 were the best fights. The giant heartless bosses just aren't as enjoyable.
