All-Time Top 10 Games of this Console Generation

onPause writes:

Sit down folks, I am about to tell you some things that will shock you. I am being a bit cheeky here but you get the point. It has been 8 years since the Xbox 360 first released in 2005 and 7 years since the PS3 made it onto store shelves. With the next generation of consoles making its way to gamers on November 15th (PS4) and 22nd (Xbox One), this seems like a fitting time for an all time Top 10 list!

My top 10 is a somewhat diferent: (based on the games ive played)

1- Red Dead Redemption / Undead Nightmare
2- The Last of Us
3- Far Cry 3 / Blood Dragon
4- Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
5- Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker
6- Rainbow Six: Vegas
7- Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
8- Bioshock
9- Heavy Rain
9- Lost Odyssey
10- Race Driver GRID

Note: Ive played other action games but a top 10 needs some variety than just pure action games. I still have many games to play that marked this generation of consoles so there´s that.

Ah yes, Rainbow 6 and Heavy Rain are solid games, I loved those as well.

I never played a Gears of War game and that was a big series back in the day i remember do you think it deserves to be in a top 10?

mcroddi3836d ago

I think Gears is good but it just never gripped me like that. Gears 2 was good and so was 3 but it didn't have me thinking about it when I wasn't playing it you know?

yeah i had the same feeling with games like Killzone and Resistance their both awesome series but they lacked a deep storyline and characters plus and im not too fond of the gameplay as well.

Games for diferent appeals that´s what gaming is all about.

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave10d ago (Edited 10d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
