While Sony Made a PlayStation 4 Apartment, Microsoft Created a Whole Xbox One Warehouse in France

Sony France created the Apartment 4 to showcase the PS4, but could Microsoft do any less? As a matter of fact no. As part of the Area One worldwide tour, they created a whole Xbox One-themed warehouse in Paris to showcase the Xbox One.

They have money allocated for marketing. This is a good thing. It's also a great way to reduce taxable income. There is a lot more to it other than they spent x amount of money. Sony has a much smaller marketing budget since they have less operating income available. If the PS4 is as successful as they hope their marketing budget will increase tremendously.

It's something usually done around here, not just for video-games but almost everything.
They invite reporters, stars and people of the business to see/present products behind closed doors before the main public.
They usually use apartments because space is expensive in Paris and it gives of a cozy environment to present the product.

The original Xbox had better specs than the PS2, but the lowest common denominator determined the quality of gaming. The Xbox 360 was out gunned by the PS3 and games looked pretty much the same on both systems. I'm not sure why people assume the PS4 will look different than Xbox One games. History tells a different story.

Even if third party games are on par graphically there will be differences in the frame rate if one system is more powerful than the other unless they cap the frame rate.

Microsoft did not invent kinect they bought the company that did. It is very debatable on weather Kinect is better and the same goes for Wiimote, only difference is the marketing. Nintendo had a very good marketing campaign for the Wii and its the most successful motion control scheme so far as far as sales go. although it has been a tuf sell to the hardcore gamer, most do not like motion controls.

Technically Microsoft has not made a profit on there xbox, they have never recovered the R and D expense for the original Xbox or the Xbox 360 which was a huge amount of money that they just wrote off so they could show profit for the division.

Well, true. Sony is master in copying - started with the first transistor radio. But the main difference is, every time they do, they usually improve and surpass the original. While MS does a cheap knock off to make more money until they dominate the market and there is no more competition - which then makes it easy to be good at something. Sony didn't invent console gaming. They simply did the same thing Microsoft did. When the Playstation launched, Sony with their much bigger budget was able to outclass Sega and Nintendo easily. They pretty much bought their way into console gaming securing third party exclusives with cash incentives and buying up smaller developers to form their studios.

Microsoft excessive? Sony is kind of broke, not humble. If the PS4 is a success for Sony they will be throwing money around again soon enough.

I was in Toronto last night and there was an X1 booth with the console playing killer instinct on the street. People playing seemed to be having fun.

While I'm not getting an X1 I was impressed how fluid the game ran and how good it looked.

My fellow Sony gamers, Sony's main design philosophy for all of its products is that it should conform to classiness, maturity, and intelligence. Due to it, anybody can tell the type of person who buys Playstation brand and plays Playstation exclusive games. This in turn means that it shouldn't be a surprise why Sony chose a well and appropriately decorated apartment as a way to showcase the PS4 as Sony sees its loyal customers as professional people with honorable lives.

Microsoft's use of the warehouse to showcase the Xbone is testament to how MS sees its own fanbase and likewise a telltale description of the kinds of people who purchase and play the Xboner. The "warehouse" setting implies a great deal that Xbox owners/players are homeless hobos, drug dealers, petty thieves, Al Qaeda suicide bombers, hookers, and/or sociopaths.

Also, don't just take my word to what I have just said. The idea that Xbox players/owners lack a certain level of classiness, maturity, and intelligence happens to be the general view of the vast majority of the American populace. The evidence for that can easily be supported by the many cries from American politicians, even the NRA president himself, to ban violent vidogames. Xbox gamers, which easily comprise around at least 80% of all American gamers, are notoriously known for their tomfoolery, and evidence for their acts can be seen on Youtube and typing "Xbox Live trolling" on its search engine. With that, it shouldn't be a surprise why Americans think Xbox gamers can be dumber than even a box of rocks, hence the ban on violent games as Xbox gamers aren't mature enough to be trusted with such activity, let alone handle a gun.

Now try to contrast that view with Europe (a very Playstation territory) which sees gaming as an activity for the more classy, mature, and intelligent kind of people thus hence, lesser calls to ban violent games. The United States, on the other hand, doesn't see its own Xbox gamers in the same light.

So yes, the use of warehouse by Microsoft to show the general French public about the Xbox One is indeed very appropriate!
