I could care less about the native resolution. I just want to know if the game good or not?

kB03841d ago (Edited 3841d ago )

Getting this for 3Ds, saw 30 fps coming. Devs don't take the time in the 3Ds as they should.

The same applies to Vita, although the Vita hardware is easier to program for since it uses mobile chips for the most part.

I hope it's not another Sonic Generations deal...where the console versions were totally awesome and then the 3Ds one makes me cry again.

God what an aweful game...

OMG...please tell me dimps isn't making the 3Ds one...please god no more!

Edit1: Christ Dimps is making it...oh god...I wish I had the will power to cancel order but I dont:(

Apparently from reading wiki, it's because of the engines Sonix Xtreme like style that they could do 60 fps on wii.U. Apparently since there isn't a lot going on in background they saved on resources.

lilbroRx3841d ago

Where is this wiki?

Also, to you comment about the Wii U's reosolution. Nearly half the games on the console are 1080p.

Where or not a dev uses it in a game is matter of whether or not they want to spend resources on it or something else. Shin'en already clarified that the hardware has no trouble running things in 1080p itself.

Nerdmaster3840d ago

Really? I actually liked the 3DS version more. The controls felt better (and the spin dash not being crazy fast was a big plus) and the last boss was ten times better than the one in the console version. I just wish it was longer.

But I may be biased since I don't really like modern Sonic gameplay.

Software_Lover3841d ago

I hate the new resolution wars. Nothing about resolution tells you how good/bad a game is.

kB03841d ago (Edited 3841d ago )

Resolution is tech, it never says anything about how good a game is, but games LOOK better at native resolution.

I personally hate playing sub resolution because it blurs the wonderful artwork. I bought a 720p TV for my ps3/360, and have a Tube TV for my Wii.

I can't do anything less than the native. It doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the game play, but it has a alot to do with the art of the game.

Have you tried playing Wii on a 1080p TV? Even ps3/360 games look like crap.

If the game is good you can enjoy it on any resolution, but it would be nice to play it the way its meant to be played:) This of how much detail you miss when you make the image stretch over the pixels instead of having each pixel do the detined image?

kB03841d ago

Yes reality hurts who ever Disagreed:P

neogeo3841d ago (Edited 3841d ago )

You nailed it with that one. It's all about a good match. I played Sega Saturn on a HD TV and kept thinking to myself... "I don't remember it looking this bad" Then I hooked it up to a nice tube TV and it look WAY better. SNES 8-bit 16-bit anything less then current Gen Need a good tube TV. When you watch retro reviews on youtube AVGN, Classic Game room, Mike the NES punk.. They all use Tube TV's for a reason. Some people just don't understand.

kB03841d ago (Edited 3841d ago )

Yup thank You Neogeo.

People just like to keep lieing to themselves or "settling"

This is what FANmania has done, people lie to themselves in order to justify their favorite product.

Xbox fans started saying how it's amazing for microsoft to lock games if it means they can have their games anywhere blah blah blah, Wii.U fans can't give a crap about 1080p because now that Wii.U can mostly only do 720p Native, it's no longer important to have 1080p...even thought 1080p has been around for almost a decade...And Playstations fan can justify PS4 not being backwards compatible with ps3 because it's better tech and gaiki (w.e that online crap is).

It's seriously getting pathetic. People take the smallest thing with such offense it's starting once again to be embarrassing to even call myself a gamer.

This makes absolutely no sense how people in the gaming community started "settling"...what the hell happened?

The Statement "Oh who cares about resolution" is like saying omg why do I need glasses because my vision isn't that bad I can still see where I'm going and what I'm talking to...it's just not 100% clear....

Why wouldn't you want crisp?

I mean people won't even admit that having a higher resolution makes a difference haha. Or saying oh it would've been better in 1080p but oh well....we have to say "I hate the resolution wars"

LOL k then when the Wii.Wii.New comes out tell them to do 240p like the old DS...see how that works out.

Seriously pathetic...in coming Disagrees.

SilentNegotiator3840d ago

Nintendo fanboys would say the same thing if it was 480p. Don't bother.

Try playing a PC game in 320x240 then, and say that again. I say resolution matters for a game's quality but 720p or 1080p won't matter a huge deal unless your TV is natively 4k or something.

In the future try not speaking in absolutism, it never works (see what I did there?)

Software_Lover3840d ago (Edited 3840d ago )

Why do people always go to the extreme cases when they try and make a point? 320x240, really?

I game at 1200p on my pc. I know about resolutions.

But it's like you said, 720 vs 1080p really won't matter, unless its the console fanboys.

If one game came out 1080p 30 for one and 720p 60 for the other, which console has the "definitive" version? Of course the guys will see 1080p and then make blog after blog declaring their purchase the best one. Of course the other team will see 60fps and declare their money well spent.

Who is right or wrong?

GamerRising3841d ago

Honesrly im glad to see the new game on the 3ds

Phil323841d ago

I might get both versions, as they're two games with differently designed levels.

GamerRising3840d ago

Uyour definetly right with that one! Home consoles tend to have the advantage. Thats why im frighten bby the fact super smash is going to be on the 3Ds. But I really want to see a sequel to sonic inleashed

Sonic Game Writers Had ‘Very Little Say’ On Story Scripts

The writing duo behind Sonic games like Sonic Colors and Sonic Lost World reveal they have little creative control over their game scripts.

-Foxtrot92d ago

They need to start letting people take inspiration from the comics, there's a ton of great stuff to take inspiration from.

phoenixwing90d ago

My beef is why even hire writers if you're just going to control the whole process. I'd be very upset as a writer if someone did that. A job is a job though.

DarXyde90d ago

Performative for optics, I would think.

It's like the US Congress holding a vote to "denounce the evils of socialism." It literally did absolutely nothing about anything and was a complete waste of everyone's time (and tax dollars—which is its own irony, by the way)

Dumbest thing in the world, but if you hire writers, it looks like you made a serious effort to make something great.

Do you remember when the original Suicide Squad movie was coming out? How much did we hear about Killer Croc's actor watching cannibal videos to get into character? Or even the "incredible lengths" Jared Leto went through to personify Joker on and off set?

It looks better when people think you're taking it seriously.

XiNatsuDragnel91d ago

Pretty much confirmed that SEGA controls everything about sonic no derivations fr

Nothing new sonic forces was meant to be far darker then sega got cold feet and they did the same old power of friendship ending

Top 10 Worst Sonic Games

Alex DS. from Link Cable Gaming writes: "I’m a huge fan of the series and love to talk about its best games… but its hard to argue that it’s all been great for the blue blur. From games that were loaded with glitches, slow-paced gameplay, and visuals that look more like a blue blur of… pixels and polygons. So, take this as a warning to avoid these 10 worst Sonic games of all time."

Never played any of these on this list, surprised Sonic R isn't there, but then i played that on my first PC and didn't think it was that bad, got some mild enjoyment out of it at least.

-Hermit-954d ago

Lost World, Black Knight, Forces and Chronicles should not be on that list, I can easily think of worse.

Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, Sonic Drift, Sonic Drift 2, Sonic Labyrinth, Sonic Eraser, Sonic R, these are all way worse than the games on this list. Knuckles Chaotix was terrible as well, I hated the way you had to control the players, it was a pain in the ass. Even games like Sonic 3D Blast, Sonic Spinball and Rivals 1 and 2 which I thought were decent were worse than some of the games on this list.

To be brutally honest, most of the Game Gear and Master System Sonic games are pretty awful too. Sonic Chaos on the Game Gear for example, you can't even see what you are doing because the field of view is so bad.

I would rather play Sonic 06 than any of the games I listed above, and that game is classed as the worst Sonic game of the lot.

People have nostalgia glasses on when they think about old 2D Sonic games. Outside of the mainline games on the Mega Drive, most of them were worse than the modern day 3D games.

Rebel_Scum953d ago

Sonic 1 & 2 on the MS2 and GG were great games. Perfect blend of speed, secrets and challenge.

Sonic Chaos was shite. Too easy and gross looking sprites and backgrounds.

imo 1-10 for worst Sonic games would just be all the 3D one's and Sonic Fighters.

lellkay953d ago (Edited 953d ago )

There is definitely some worse games than Lost World,

The guy who wrote this definitely didn't dig enough into the franchise history haha

Pyrofire95953d ago

General question.
Is your favorite Sonic game the first one you played?
If not, is you favorite the same style as your first? (3D, 2D, some other distinction?)

lellkay953d ago

My favorite game is not the first one I played. (First one I played was Sonic The Hedgehog on Megadrive/Genesis)

My favorite one is probably 3&K or Mania, so yes it is in the same style as the first game I played.

-Hermit-953d ago

My favourite Sonic game is not the first one I played or same style.

The first Sonic game I played was Sonic 1 on the Mega Drive, my favourite is Sonic Adventure 2.

DFresh953d ago

I disagree with Sonic Forces on that list but the others are correct.
Sonic Forces is hella under rated.
