Sci-fi horror SOMA coming to PS4, from the creators of Amnesia: The Dark Descent

Hi, I am Thomas Grip, creative director at Frictional Games, an indie studio based in Sweden. We have been crafting horror games since 2006 and are probably most famous for having created Amnesia: The Dark Descent. Previously, we have only developed for PC, but this time our new title will be released for PS4 as well!

Yes!!! Exactly what i was hoping for. So many great Horror games coming to the PS4. Outlast, Daylight, SOMA and eventually Routine as stated by the devs. Scary times ahead, can't wait :)

i'm starting to loose track here ... so many titles have been announced for the ps4 so far

abzdine3848d ago (Edited 3848d ago )

and one more exclusive on next gen consoles, ONE MORE! not even PS2 had this much love a month before release!

abc12333848d ago

What was that? Did someone say that the Xbone has a better line-up?

pyramidshead3848d ago

Hopefully we'll see a lot more PC only games making their way to the PS4.

black0o3848d ago

^^ with cross-plat MP features

Irishguy953848d ago (Edited 3848d ago )

Better 'launch line up' abc, Ps4 clearly has the superior line up. I haven't seen anyone arguing Xbox has a better line up overall. The only thing is Titanfall, nothing really interesting on the X1 within 6 months of the release, whereas PS4 has many within the first 6 months

thrust3848d ago

@abc one word titanfall!

hehe :P

Xsilver3848d ago (Edited 3848d ago )

@trust Titanfall vs http://farm4.staticflickr.c... yeah ok buddy.

thrust3848d ago

Xsilver,4 words.

titanfall all day long!

MazzingerZ3848d ago (Edited 3848d ago )

PS2 dev times + Power = The comback of the PS2!

FamilyGuy3848d ago (Edited 3848d ago )

This easy to port thing is becoming a huge deal already. Matched with self-publishing and I can see just about every noteworthy PC game heading to the PS4 if the devs have the money, time and motivation to do it.

The list of games is already huge and grows longer every couple days.

Edit: Oh wow, just noticed the reasonable statement made by Irishguy, there may be hope for you yet. Titanfall looks great but that 1 game can't sell me on a $500 system. MS did a good job in finding that one first and snatching up exclusivity, whether it be timed or not they got there first and planted a flag.

@Thrust

Titanfall: better on PC.

@thrust I spend a fair amount of time with Titanfall at Gamescom and the game is indeed a fun competitive online shooter but that's about it. I will get it on Xbox one but it's not as impressive as Destiny, The Division or Infamous SS.

thrust3848d ago

Am really looking forward to destiny and the division

Zeal0t3848d ago

OMG you're right!!!! The 20min gameplay video at Gamescom was pure horror! I bury my head in shame :D

FamilyGuy3848d ago

That one is one of the most exciting I've see so far too. Survival horror revival incoming.

Want to be frightened to the point of going into the foetal position and locking yourself in your room for several days? PS4 has you covered.

ThatEnglishDude3848d ago (Edited 3848d ago )

I'm *loving* the HR Giger look of things from 2 minutes on. The skeletal looking pipes, the machinery, I get a real 'Alien' vibe from this. Fuckin' ave it!

Cannot wait!

Inception3848d ago

Exactly! Damn, why SEGA not hired Frictional Games to make Alien games, instead giving it to that swindler named Randy Pitchfork :(

OT, man, as a survival horror fans, it's like i'm in heaven right now. I hope Sony / Keiichiro Toyama make a new Siren after he finished with Gravity Rush 2.

Pintheshadows3848d ago

A new Siren would be amazing but I hope it isn't episodic this time as if anything downloading the episodes really bothered me. I liked the actual game but I didn't see the point of it being episodic even with the way it was structured.

Both western and eastern devs seem to be having a horror revival. What with Outlast and the upcoming Evil Within. Good times. Some of the smaller indie titles are good as well.

I want to see more of the procedurally generated horror title that is on PS4 but I can't remember the name off the top of my head.

Hopefully Capcom will realise this and entirely reboot Resident Evil. And I mean entirely.

Sokol3848d ago

I love the return of horror and survival horror game genres.

I truly missed it, I have had enough of FPS in the last 7 years..

chrissx3848d ago

Sony keep spoiling their customers with great exclusives. Here's another. Ps4 is where its at

Moncole3848d ago (Edited 3848d ago )

Its also coming to PC so its no an exclusive. http://frictionalgames.blog...
They never said it won't release on other sysyems so it will probably also go to X1 and Wii U. Indie devs don't do exlusives because they need as much people to buy their game so they can make money.

Salooh3848d ago

Ok , i will accept that if you apply your talk on titanfall :) .

Moncole3848d ago

I nver said Titanfall is an exclusive. Seeing how its on three systems it can't be.

I find it funny how my comment got disagrees for stating a fact. Kieep it classy, fanboys
