edit: spoke to soon.

Michael, Niko is sleeping with your wife!

3-4-53843d ago

Wait until PC.

The mods will be amazing.

Klonopin3843d ago

I keep picturing Kip from "Knight Rider" as a mod for the PC version.

KazHiraiFTW3843d ago

3-4-5

Why so many disagrees? I don't remember any mods for GTA4 console yet there is some epic mods for GTA4 PC. Actually many ppl consider GTA4 with icenhancer mod the most photorealistic game available and I would have to agree. Even better than Crysis 1 which is still better than any console game and it was released in 2007.

360ICE3843d ago

KazHiraiFTW
I agree with 3-4-5, but if you actually go back to Crysis it's pretty easy to see that there are tons of games that are better looking. On console, and especially on PC.

ufo8mycat3843d ago

See thats the problem Kaz

What you just mentioned is only a visual MOD. Does nothing.
You are still playing the same game
Same story/missions/characters/loca tions

Now if there was a MOD that enhanced GAMEPLAY that would be a different.

KazHiraiFTW3843d ago (Edited 3843d ago )

360ICE

I find it amusing how you say there are games that are better looking on consoles than Crysis but you give no examples whatsoever because you know I'm right: their isn't.

On PC there are certain titles with DX11 effects (that 360/ps3 are incapable of) that have arguably better graphics like Crysis 3 but since it's a console port it still has limitations that crysis 1 never had. And Metro 2033 + Metro Last Light look great for PC but are obviously held back by consoles.

ufo8mycat:
Don't even get me started on gameplay mods for Gta4 PC I could spend all night. Have you ever heard of google. Use it.

360ICE3843d ago (Edited 3843d ago )

@Kaz
Fair enough. Here are some of the games on console that I think look better than the first Crysis on PC: Killzone 2, Killzone 3 (though this one has more ups and downs than KZ2), Dishonored, Bioshock: Infinite, Uncharted 2, Uncharted 3, God of War 3, Ascension, The Last of Us (in most ways), Crysis 2 and 3 on console, Witcher 2 on 360. I'd say car games like NFS Most Wanted, Forza Horizon and Dirt 3 stand their chance too, once you respect that they're car games, and hell, even LittleBigPlanet 2 for that matter.

I mean, go back to the first Crysis on PC and run it on a fairly big screen (or try running console games on a small screen). There are a lot of things that don't look that good anymore. Particularly in the animation department. Even though the anti-aliasing and some of the effects are hardly ever matched on consoles.

On PC, I'd say pretty much every major game released these days look better than Crysis. Some even rips it apart, like Witcher 2.

Tell me i didnt just read this.

Einhert3842d ago

So many disagrees because console only gamers are mad jelly of mods on PC

KazHiraiFTW3842d ago

360ICE

HAHA nice one kid. Actually I'm not sure if you are serious or trying to be funny. Either way that made me laugh.

"this is a 'disk2/common'-only mod (should work on both JTAG-consoles and Burned ISO)"

Thought piracy was only available on PC?.

Looks like some double standards are going on here as you console guys are spunking in your panties over 1 small mod. (something PC gamers have had before the Playstation and Xbox)

FlyingFoxy3843d ago

it's obvious they hate the fact when we point out better things about PC games they hate it, but if there's slight differences like a 360 game looking a bit better than a ps3 game, or vice versa then they boast about the better version.

I'm more interested in the PC version for 64 player online at least.

wsoutlaw873843d ago

how is this a double standard? when did any one that plays on consoles say they hated mods. most people would like mod support on consoles.

WitWolfy3843d ago

LOL I have a JTAG guess that automatically makes me a pirate now.. Ignorance is bliss.

ChrisW3843d ago

@wsoutlaw87,

"When did anyone that plays on consoles say they hated mods?"

There's sometimes a blurred line betwixt hate and jealousy.

SilentNegotiator3843d ago (Edited 3843d ago )

" Thought piracy was only available on PC?. Looks like some double standards are going on here as you console guys are spunking in your panties over 1 small mod. (something PC gamers have had before the Playstation and Xbox) "

How is being interested in a mod on a console automatically "double standards"? Are these people saying that mods suck or that console piracy doesn't exist or something? Because THAT might make them hypocrites.

I'm not sure you have any idea what "double standards" ACTUALLY means. Because I don't see anyone here saying that console piracy doesn't exist or that PCs don't have mods, or anything like that.

Either look up the phrase "double standards" or tell the fanboy voices out to get you in your head to pipe down.

steve30x3843d ago

A lot of people on N4G are in denial that Piracy is just as bad on consoles as it is on PC. I know I will get a lot of Disagrees over this but I really don't care.

SilentNegotiator3842d ago

@Steve

But no one here is, so joe90 is just assuming what these people think, which is ridiculous.

esemce3842d ago

This has nothing to do with piracy, yes console games are usually the first to be leaked and copied now mainly because they have earlier release dates.

Gamer19823842d ago

People should just wait for PC version and then mod as console moddings a lot more difficult and longer.

I read somewhere that, as soon as the guy launched the game, the game character received a call from Roman to go play bowling

Captain_Mushroom3843d ago

I don't get it... so mods ARE possible on consoles? 'cause I haven't seen any mod in all these years, except maybe for that Unreal Tournament released in PS3's first years of life, if I'm not mistaken.

FunkMacNasty3843d ago

I'm confused by this too.. but this is from the article..

"After a few hours of research i found out how the file loading works in the game engine. Happy to say this is a 'disk2/common'-only mod (should work on both JTAG-consoles and Burned ISO). no other files were changed. Current: Trying to get Niko's hands and feet models to appear correctly."

Not sure if that clears anything up.. I'm not sure what the above statement means at all

CJDUNCAN3843d ago

yes, you need the right software tools.

LightningMokey3843d ago

It's always been possible, just very difficult and no tools are specifically made for that type of work. IT's easier on 360 and PS3 but it's still really hard to do and you can get banned for it.

N4GCB3843d ago

Yep, there's people who port pc skyrim mods to the ps3 version.

barb_wire3843d ago

seen those on the 360 too.. CoD is a big game for mods on both the 360/PS3 but Left 4 Dead and Halo have a fair share of mods too.

fullmetal2973843d ago

Probably using a J-tagged Xbox 360 to store the modified game files onto the hard drives.

crowsticky12343843d ago

That's not a mod, I read that was included with the Collector's Edition version of the game.

Angels37853843d ago

Maybe you should read more carefully then...because I have the collectors edition and niko is included as a PARENT for what your online character can look like. There is not a model of him in the game.

FunkMacNasty3843d ago

Yes, but if having Niko as your characters Dad is anything like having John Marston for your Dad, you can turn the 'resemblance' all the way to the Paternal side for a spitting image effect.. I did this, and My characters face IS john Marston's face (albiet with different hair and a beard

Gr1mmyshadows3843d ago

all you have to do is set him as your parent and set your player to look like only the father

Thegamer413843d ago

You can only change the characters look by changing his heritage on the online mode only.
These screens from the article are obviously from the single player so yes it is a mod.

BattleTorn3843d ago

My Online character has an uncanny resemblence to Niko. (with CE)

Oh, I just looked into it, I wished I edited that comment but I was too late, to restate on what I posted earlier, it's a custom character specifically for the Online Character Creation System, I apologize.

Rockstar need to learn that 12 years of work and 5000 employees doesn’t account for one persons opinion on the internet…

Profchaos34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

Oh and hundreds of millions of dollars in revanue to boot.

Lots of complaints about gta ever since the hd era started and yet it's bugger than its ever been with gta vi up to 180 million trailer views alone. The next game is shaping it be be another genre defining game

MetalGearsofWar34d ago

They already learned they dont have to actually make a great game

sagapo34d ago

The controls of RDR2 felt a but cluncky indeed, but it’s not as bad as some make it out to be. At no point did I get the feeling my experience with the game was held back or ruined by the controls.
But it can never hurt to optimize them a bit, sure.

Zhipp34d ago (Edited 34d ago )

I did accidentally beat someone to death a couple times. An unfortunate mistake but besides that I didn't have any problems with the controlls

jznrpg34d ago

Red Dead Redemption felt clunky at first but I got used to it fairly quick. I thought 2 was easier to control but it could be my experience with the first game helped me out. Great games

Profchaos34d ago

I wouldn't call Rockstar games characters clunky instead they feel like they move with Weight they are not twitch controls press x to instantly snap onto cover the characters instead move like a actor would ducking behind cover they are exposed while they get there.
