Check Out a Forza Motorsport 5 Gameplay Video Showing Easy and Simulation Difficulty Settings

Microsoft Japan just released a new gameplay video of Forza Motorsport 5 showcasing the demo that was available at Tokyo Game Show, and it’s a quite interesting one as it shows the two extremes of the available difficulty settings.

Gameplay is at 2:12 and 8:30.

It looks like it's noon in the game, but the long shadows suggest sunset... it feels wrong.
Turn10 has a hard time getting the lighting right in their games, aside from Autovista I guess. Not sure if that counts since it's not in-game.

I think I'm finally beginning to realize something.

For a while every XBOX exclusive I've played I've found them to be very enjoyable to play and it makes sense why because all the negative comments I read on N4G makes me lose all expectations that I had so when I play I'm pleasantly surprised. On the other hand because N4G likes to praise anything Sony does quite often I find myself disappointed. So please keep this up, as I know I'll appreciate Forza even more! Tear it to molecular level if you have to!

To be honest, it goes to a show an insecurity amongst people more than anything. This article is about the difference between difficulty settings but this chap just couldn't help but regurgitate the desperate and extremely weak argument about lighting.

It's just an attempt to create a precedent among fellow haters so that they can leverage their agendas. It's so obvious and transparent.

Well, its the folks from the other side are using this argument just to degrade the game. That video is awesome one of the best Forza 5 videos out there. It really shows the silky smooth 60fps.

You'd THINK it was next gen... you know... using the 'power of the xbox one' that turn 10 is always going on about. The Xb1 doesn't have enough power to pull off realtime lighting or even day/night cycles. Does that mean the game will be bad? No way... but it's a sign that this box isn't all that powerful.

My only nit pick is the lens flare in cockpit view but other than that the game has very impressive visuals. This is by far the best video presentation I've seen on this game. I'm officially impressed and this has me off the fence. X1 day one.

Laguna Seca looks significantly better than Forza 4. It's a lot bigger jump than I initially thought it was. The car models look excellent as well. Impressive looking game.

Now if only Thrustmaster would quit d*cking around and show the pedals for their TX 458 wheel they are releasing for this game. I follow them on twitter and facebook and once a week they release a new 15 second video showing another feature but nothing on the pedals as of yet. Everyone hammers them with "show the pedals" but so far no response. I need a clutch pedal. The game won't be the same without one. At least not for me. I can't imagine Thrustmaster releasing a wheel like that without one and I doubt they will.

Where am I going to find the time. So many games coming out and I want them ALL. Sorry honey we are going to have to tighten the belt for Christmas. Daddy is going shopping for daddy.

It's one thing to bee nitpicky about something, but it's a whole other thing to be a complete douche to the point you're actually ridiculing yourself.

This course is from Laguna Saca, and when you drive north on the rahal straight you can see how the sun is almost directly to your east, casting shadow to your left and suggesting early morning. When you drive east, the sun is flaring directly in your eyes. And during turns the shadow and lighting effects perfectly align.

The lighting and shadowing model looks amazing - probably the best so far for non-dynamic daylight cycle, with proper reflections, color tint and light bounce.
You have to be completely clueless about lighting tech and about racing to even thing that the shadows suggest sunset where it's perfectly clear to anyone familiar with the track what time of day is actually shown there.

Uhh no. It's been the same since the announcement trailer and that was on an entirely different track.
"the sun is flaring directly in your eyes" ...yeah, that seems to happen very often in this game. It seems pretty forced to me. Almost every promotional screenshot and video has lens flares on it as well and god rays as if there was fog all the time. I guess they consider that stuff next-gen at Turn10.

No, that's just how things work in reality. you drive at 9am towards east and you get sun in your eyes. It happens a lot because it's a god damn circular track. You came out as a bullshitter so don't try to divert it - it will sound much less pathetic if you simply apologize for your error.

I don't get it. When you go around one of the turns the sun is right in your face. That doesn't look like noon at all. It looks more like 9 am. That makes the shadows perfect. I guess you need to try and troll better.

Forza 4 was praised for its beautiful lighting, which I agree with, and so was Forza Horizon, which I own as well.

The shadows are so out of place, other than that It's a pretty solid looking game. Turn 10 still have a long way to go to get on GT level, but they are doing a pretty good job so far trying. Keep it up Turn 10, game looks very impressive.

The lighting and shadows are slightly off in this old build, game is garbage, pre-order cancelled... Seriously? Who the hell cares, the game looks awesome and there's a reason why Forza is the highest rated racing game.

One thing i always noticed with forza is the really dark shadows and odd contrast, i know this is off screen but it looks to be in forza 5 too, maybe its the graphics engine or style

I also noticed this there is something really odd about Forza 5's shadowing under the cars. Look at every Forza 5 image, I was going to ask why do the cars looks so weird on the road? Then I realized it's because every single car in Forza 5 has this weird unrealistic shadow that constantly stays under the car, that never changes or adjusts to any light angles again proving the game isn't using real-time lighting more light baked lights.

People tried to say Forza 5 has real-time lighting but it is very obvious from this gamplay vid that is far from the case.

Maybe some of us would not nit pick about the fake lighting, fake shadows and so on if Dan G. and Turn 10 did not constantly brag about how great it looks, how the best of everything it is, how blank has never been done before, how we took the torch from PD and now we're the best.
