"What’s really got me thinking is how poorly designed, and in some cases, flat out unnecessary it is to get some of these trophies. In particular I feel like a rant about PSNs platinum trophies." - Bobby Perez of Str N Gaming
Huzaifah from eXputer: "Sleeping Dogs from the early 2010s is one of the best open-world games out there but in dire need of a resurgence."
You say "yet" as if it's even possible anymore. United Front Games is gone, along with anyone that made this game what it is
That’s what happens when games sell poorly. And I’ve seen people wonder why people cry when a game sells badly… this is your answer.
Sleeping Dogs was a sleeper hit back then. It was fantastic. It actually still is. Would love a sequel to this, or at least a revive of True Crime series.

This is why Trophies & Achievements should have a standard set as to not allow online trophies.
The only way I could see online T/A is to have it for online only games, such as MMO's can have online trophies.
I enjoy getting a platinum, working on Skylanders: Giants atm prior to the new swapforce coming out.
This is an oddly written article. The writer's problem is obviously with online trophies, yet he redirects the issue toward platinum trophies. The platinum is little more than a way to mark that a game's trophy list was completed. Sure, it's worth "points", but it's hardly something that should be put on a pedestal, at least no more than getting 1000 on a 360 game, or any other 100% designation. At the end of the day, an incomplete list is an incomplete list, regardless of the presence of that final platinum at the top.
I agree that online trophies/achievements can be a problem, essentially putting a time limit on the full completion of a game's list in most cases. Of course, one could argue that this is intentional, in order to get the completionists and "trophy whores" in early, and playing modes they might not otherwise.
Pretty dumb article IMO. I agree that online trophies can be kind of annoying, but within reason they're fine. As someone mentioned, it is a way to draw people into the mulitplayer if they never thought to in the first place. I know that TLoU's online trophies are pretty insane (if you don't like the multiplayer that is).
I think trophies are super healthy to games, I try to get all the trophies in any game that I truly loved or to have all the plats in a series. I'm hoping to have Tales of Graces, Xillia, Xillia 2, and Symphonia Chronicles all platted :D. Without plats/trophies I probably would just be done with a game after the first playthrough. People argue that they're not worth anything...but in reality they're worth just as much as your plastic little league trophy in your attic haha..maybe even more :O
I'm just glad we can all agree that online trophies and achievements are a pain in the ass sometimes. :p
My experiences with trophies is minor. I do like getting the notifications when I earn a trophy, they have fun names and such. However, I rarely ever check my overall progress. Then again, I'm a bit of a filthy casual.
