BF4 Xbox one tournament Announced

Today, EA has announced Battlefield 4: Showdown, an upcoming Battlefield 4 tournament taking place in London, UK, that will pit one European team of 32 players against one all-American team of 32 players against each other.

EA are not only in bed with Microsoft. They are now making children!

For shame.

FlameHawk3850d ago

What the hell are you talking about...

lastofgen3850d ago (Edited 3850d ago )

It's just one of those 'strategic partnerships' that exist nowadays.
You know, like the one that ubisoft has with sony, or the one that activision has with sony regarding destiny? And don't forget sony's partnership for the batman games.
And now this one, ea's bf 4 with microsoft.

And how in the world do you have 7 bubbles when you spurt out comments like that?? :/

Sevir3849d ago

Lol, people make a big deal out of nothing! People have short term memory... Sony has partnered up with Capcom, konami, Ubisoft, Activision, Square and Warner Brothers... All this hate because MS dumped cash at EA's lawn for a partnership is absurd. Last Generation, Sony did the same thing with EA.

BigShotSmoov0073849d ago (Edited 3849d ago )

Well lastofgen its obvious how he got 7 bubbles. Seeing how there are more people on this website that think they way he thinks, they are just bubbling up each other all the time. But your right to point out this is a business, and these are business partnerships. Evo 2013 is the biggest fighting game tournament out there and 9 times out of ten they always use Playstation system for their fighting games. You bring up Ubi with their Watch Dogs & Assassin Creed exclusive content for Sony, Rockstar with their exclusive PS3 bundle for GTA5 and EA comes out with a tournament for Battlefield 4 for the X1 and people want to bury and boycott them but have no problems with the other partnerships? It's just baffling to me, I just don't get it.

BallsEye3849d ago

You're suprised? All the people that post hate to ms love to sony comments got plenty of bubbles. Ones that are not biased got the least. I had 5 bubbles just a while ago, got downed to 2 because I did not follow the sheep on saying kz sf is best looking next gen game. n4g! Place where insecure fanboys feel important.

Xbox one: buy if you mainly want fps online games (really. That's the only reason I prefer it over ps4. Except ps4 has Killzone. Even though guerrilla isn't likely developing more Killzones any time soon, shadow fall looks to be the best launch title I've ever seen, and I plan on buying an Xbox one first, so looks like I won't be playing it any time soon. Sigh...

jeffgoldwin3850d ago

Buy sony if u mainly wanna play the main character as a 12 year girl in most AA games and turn into a pedo irl. No ty.

fullymoated3849d ago (Edited 3849d ago )

Yup. Titanfall, Dedi's for AAA games like CoD, exclusive content for The Division, and EA/Dice are aiming to have the same res for Battlefield, whatever that means we will hopefully find out soon. I can't believe they've somewhat righted the ship after the worst reveal of all time =)

DeadlyFire3849d ago (Edited 3849d ago )

I think you got it all wrong buddy.

Microsoft has Gears, Halo, Sunset Overdrive as FPS/TPS titles. Everything else is multiplatform.

Sony has Killzone, Last of Us, The Order, and Uncharted, Planetside 2 as FPS/TPS titles as well as the multiplatform titles. hmm....

Where are all the 1BX fps online games?

Titanfall is EA game. It will be a multiplatform release at some point down the line. Timed deal does grab some people over though. Wise move from Microsoft. Activision changed their mind pretty fast on word of an exclusive launch for Destiny on Microsoft's console. They know they can fill the hole EA is leaving wide open for them.

fullymoated3849d ago

True, but I wouldn't count The Order, Uncharted, and TLOU as core online shooters. If you are talking about campaigns, then yes PS4 is amazing and everyone knows this. If you are talking about online multiplayer shooters X1 has Titanfall, Halo, Gears, and PS4 has Killzone. CoD has dedis for X1 and all devs will have access to dedis on X1. PS4 has not announced anything on this front for CoD, I guess they won't have them? Battlefield had better be a LOT better on PS4 or else my list above puts X1 ahead for people that love online shooters.. I have yet to be convinced otherwise and it speaks volumes that the PS fanboys on this site just disagree rather than giving some discussion on why PS4 should be considered for an online-shooter-only fan?? So here's your chance DeadlyFire - sell me on the PS4 for online shooters please

DeadlyFire3847d ago

Uncharted is a core online shooter. Its top notch on PS3 online. You have not played it I know. Last of US is smaller online focus, but its made from the same people. Although maybe its not meant to be online core game. To me it appears Uncharted relates to Gears gameplay's player counts, and Killzone relates to Halo's online player modes.

Dedicated servers are not needed for less than so many players the difference between it and peer to peer is very little with 4-12 players. 16 players its marginal. Its why so many games don't have them for their multiplayer. Its been fine for Call of Duty for years and years on consoles without dedicated servers. Higher player counts its more noticeable. Dedicated servers are essential for 32+ players. Without dedicated 16-24 players its sketchy unless rock solid netcode and bandwidth. 16 being marginally okay, and anything more becoming less than stellar in most cases. Think of it this way. 16 being yellow(lag dips here and there), 24 players being Orange(noticeable lag chunks), and 32 players(A mixed bag of both) being a big red zone without dedicated servers.

Neither Microsoft or Sony are done expanding their Cloud network reach. Microsoft started working with Agawi a year before 1BX announcement. Sony shortly setup something with Openstack after Microsoft's announcements. So they could be moving towards that direction with their Cloud software. I wouldn't be to surprised to hear Sony do this later on.

Microsoft has three things in its Cloud server setup.
One is matchmaking speed reduced.
Two is reduce costs by linking all servers to the same Cloud network. So any datacenter could utilize its servers for the games as long as it accesses their Cloud server files.
Three. Cloud compute layer. Not much to it. Its mostly simple things. They are trying an idea for smarter AI with Froza 5, Spawn calculating with Titanfall to prevent spawn killing, and likely other things. PS4 has extra CUs that could make up for this kind of stuff in a way until Cloud stuff it setup then it would only add to it. 1BX has 12 CU and PS4 has 18 CU inside the GPU cores.

The Order, Sunset Overdrive, Guerrila Games new IP, or Black Tusk's IP we both know nothing about gameplay wise so far. So I wouldn't say they qualify for core online focus or not.

Microsoft still has Halo, Gears, Titanfall(Timed)
Sony still has Killzone, Uncharted, Planetside 2(F2P), Blacklight(F2P), Warframe(F2P)

As far as Titanfall exclusivity goes.
‘The shooter rotation we think about now is Battlefield, Titanfall and Battlefront, and so we like those three brands going forward,’ said Gibeau. < The EA guy says this. Its not likely EA would skip the PS4 every three years for a Titanfall release.

BF4 2013
Titanfall (PC/1BX) Spring 2014 (PS4) Winter 2014
Star Wars Battlefront 2015. :)
and repeat with a +1 to their number and less exclusive deals. EA is known to publish anything everywhere. Its their trademark. Only a fool would believe otherwise.

That's all I have to say. :)

GrandpaSnake3850d ago

This is why XBOX1 will do ok, it is still one of the main consoles for mlg for games like COD and BF. Sony has to realize that the MLG is a huge part of marketing and pro gamers want a console with tournaments with good prizes and money. That is one of the main reasons why i want to get metal gear online for xbox just because i might be able to get in mlg with that game and xbox1 will probably still be used for mlg.

Dorestant3850d ago (Edited 3849d ago )

To be fair, most if not all of the Fighting games used in these tourneys are on PlayStation consoles

GrandpaSnake3849d ago

ohh i really didnt know that thx, i really hope the playstation can break through that barrier.

Sevir3849d ago

The PlayStation Brand will be fine and the PS4 is in a far bettet position this time around than the Xbox is... No need for me to list the reasons why, this time it's just different!

dethpuck3849d ago

Until the play station versions couldn't keep up with 360. This coming gen will be interesting. I'm getting both consoles so which ever prevails ultimately will be fine

Used to love this one, but X-Men Legends 1 and 2 will always be my favorites, especially Rise of Apocalypse. Would pay some good money to play it today with online multiplayer, back then I had no way to get a modem

ZeekQuattro4h ago

I remember buying them dirt cheap on the PS4 and then a few days later I read they were delisted. I was wondering why the bundle was price so low and got my answer when that happened.

Knightofelemia2h ago(Edited 2h ago)

Sad to say this is one game franchise next to the Xmen that needs a sequel. I use to play the hell out of Xmen Legends and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Was great when my cousin had the OG Xbox play with four other people and then playing online. Great games glad to see it reappear even though I own the discs love the mechanics of this game.

Terry_B2h ago

It got a sequel..but for dumbass #reasons as a switch exclusive.

shinoff21832h ago

It looked so horrible to. They should've kept it similar to the first two.

Asplundh2h ago

Because Nintendo funded it, they did the same for Bayonetta.

Knightofelemia1h ago

I totally forgot about the Switch sequel.

jukins2h ago

Misleading. This page is whats available for people who owned the game prior to delisting.

Abnor_Mal1h ago

The first game was the best imo.

There's a reason they're called 'gods' and not 'regular people'. It's nice they've diversified even more but gods looking godly wasn't exactly a glaring issue with the first game.

Juancho515h ago

Hey! Gods suffer from obesity and diabetes too!

Blastoise5h ago

This is the dumbest article I've read in a long time.

Michiel19894h ago

No one had an issue with that besides a very select group of people that try to push their own agenda.

Crows904h ago

Exactly. Not even sure they're necessarily committing to body diversity either.

The designs look fine not stupid.

Inverno3h ago

The writer of the this article clearly doesn't know what a real god looks like and has never seen them /s

Tody_ZA3h ago

Thanks for bringing up a bunch of garbage thoughts that never crossed my mind when playing the first game because I was too busy playing the game to worry about the portrayal of the physical bodies of gods.

Foolish me, when I read the title I thought we were talking about game mechanics.

Piss off, honestly, with this asinine bottom of the barrel try-hard-to-be-relevant trash.
