Not trying to get DRM restrictions nor having a kinect spy camera watch you all the time, tough Yoshida himself only said they were focused on the gamers while the editor added the DRM + Kinect.

I get it Microsoft, you are removing the mandatory kinect because people don't want to get spied at from inside their homes.

But that simply means that indeed people that do uses the Kinect will get spied on and the only way not to be spied on is to not plug in the kinect in.

Couldn't you just not support PRISM in the first place as far as the Xbox One is concern?
You're still selling the kinect bundled, it has some features people may be into but won't because of privacy issues.

I don't see a lot of people plotting terrorist attacks while playing Xbox One and if so, how would you make the difference between a real terrorist plot and people playing Call of Duty?
You can't. The way PRISM works is that it's based off words like "Bomb" or "explosion" and that could be just about any military shooter out there.

MS still wants to "spy on people" but it has little to nothing to do with SOPA or PRISM. They want to monetize the time you spend using the XB1 selling it off not the government but other companies in the name of ad revenue. This is a huge factor for me. Being able to seamlessly watch a friend play any game they've decided to live stream, jump into the game at a really fast speed and even playing a game as it downloads/before it's finished downloading.
I love the social aspect of following popular streamers and easily seeing game play of the games I might be interested in. All from the comfort of my gaming console. It's funny because it caters to my interest/wish/desire and it also helps Sony as a form of game advertisement. Watching people play is a way of letting a game sell itself. So many times I see what my friends on PS3 are playing and wish I could just pop in and view what they're doing, especially if it's a game I don't have.

There's no camera on my laptop. There's no camera connected to my PC. I don't own a tablet. My phone (that stares at the inside of my pocket) is a BlackBerry, which has notoriously good security. Not everyone so willingly surrenders themselves to the surveillance state.

Doesn't really matter what I think, though, since the XBL EULA *admits* that Kinect is and/or can be used to spy on you. The current XBL EULA includes the following. Keep in mind that the term "Services" will cover a much broader spectrum with the One.

There's more going on in DriveClub than you'd like to bother looking into, and ironically, your excuse is "no excuses".

Microsoft gave the impression that all games would have dedicated servers but was never confirmed (and they are good at smoke and mirrors), later on they just stated that dedicated servers would be cheaper for devs so plz dont believe that hype.

Sony has been there and done that with most of their first party games having dedicated servers this gen like Starhawk, Warhawk, , Resistance mlb the show and many others but no one even noticed or batted an eye. Killzone Shadowfall doesn't have real dedicated servers. Overall. Xbox live has been the better choice for multiplayer gaming this gen, and is getting better next gen. Psnetwork is decent, but I've had many problems with it in the past. I'm going with Xbox one for the multiplayer aspects of the system. Ps4 will be better for people that enjoy Sony games, and generally anybody who doesn't like Halo. Both systems have pros and cons, but Xbox one appeals to me more.

Does it not strike you as more than just coincidence that the NSA issue, mandatory Kinect, and forced online DRM all happened at once? That they promoted the Kinect's ability to create targeted ads says they'd be spying on you, to some extent; that Microsoft preemptively handed over the keys to software to the NSA didn't look good as a follow-up(though I think that actually happened before, and we just found out later).

We can- kinda- say "Crisis Averted" since the online is no longer a requirement, but only just. Honestly, I'd rather not put myself in such a situation.

The Kinect for the Xbone was originally a requirement. And you can't turn off the microphone, without turning off the Kinect. Now, ask yourself why, they did that in the first place?

That's disturbing enough. Your console is no longer YOUR console, at least as far as Microsoft is concerned.

So basically, the anti-consumer measure behind Kinect was that it would listen to your speech to gather keywords to be able to customize advertisements on your dashboard, so Microsoft could make money from you whilst you viewed personalised adverts, no choice in it, but to unplug your camera.

This is still a reality, seeing as though Kinect is still going to be connected to your console. Who wants that in their house, and who wants to support a corporation that not only was planning to do that on a mass scale with a once forced peripheral, but are still doing that on a lesser scale?

Let's also not forget Microsoft's history of privacy invasion. Hint: it wasn't a one-off.

See, I was looking at the upcoming gen as a fresh start. Not quite a clean slate, but still a chance for everybody to pass or fail all over again. My problem with Microsoft has always been their greedy policies and willingness to shaft their customers for a profit.

When it came to the reveal of the XB1, I was hoping to see a refocused Microsoft. I didn't believe the rumors; I thought they'd come out swinging, heavy on the games, focused on the core. After all, literally everybody knew how stupid the company would have to be to go through with what those rumors stated... and then they did it.

And continued to do so.

And every time they got themselves a little bit of positive press, they did or said something negative to cancel that little bit of momentum out. I'm certainly willing to give MS my money if they show themselves to be heading down a path in gaming that I agree with. I don't have any problem doing that for any of the companies. But Microsoft fails at that.

You guys wanna support em? Do your thing. I choose to be a bit more careful with my money than that.

I could understand the excitement if the differences in hardware capabilities were like comparing the PS4 to the 360 but it's not. Besides, the X1 arguably has the best line-up of games so far and MS has significantly improved it's already stellar online service while the PS4 is finally getting cross game chat.

Most gamers care about the games and online anyway because that is where the fun actually is.

For me, at least;
I don't think the issue is too much about "oh, I don't want no one spying on my 'snacks' & stuff" Lol, but it's more the fact that it is possible & us as citizens don't really care. It's more of an uneased feeling as opposed to "aaargh, I'm so paranoid", because things of this nature breaches privacy laws, & no one really cares enough to battle against it, for their rights. Of course we can attempt to rally, petition, etc., but for that to happen, someone has to care. & with laws like this being breached, years will go by in silence, & things will get worse, & it's gonna be too late. Why cry about the tree that's in flames when you sat & watch the match go to it. Did you think it was not gonna burn?
Anywoo, all he can do as individuals is protect ourselves as we see fit; if MS, Sony, spies, hackers, government, cameras, etc. just use what your comfortable with & the ones that your not comfortable with, take the neccesary steps to make it "safe" for you. That's the best that we can do.
