From all appearances, it seems like we’re living in an age of unprecedented growth and opportunity in the video game world. Strangely though, the end of 2013 looks a lot more like 1993 than it does the future, at least when it comes to games traveling over international boundaries. Even as independent developers find new ways to reach audiences around the world, the big Japanese publishers of old are regressing to their isolationist ways, locking a number of games purely into the domestic market.
SEGA has announced Fearless: Year of Shadow, a campaign that celebrates Sonic the Hedgehog and his brooding acquaintance, Shadow.
GamesIndustry.biz writes: "Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.
The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive."
Sega had such a turbulent existence from the mid-90s to when they dropped out of console manufacturing entirely in 2001, it’s understandable if you’ve never heard of the Genesis Nomad.
Like i keep saying , Sega is definitively the worst company of this gen . And many people simply didnt even see it creeping up , as they were busy (righfully for the most part) bashing Capcom or Square enix .
They mishandled almost each of their properties , new and old , and almost never listen to their fans .
This is why I new fear for Atlus.
F-U-C-K YOU SEGA! If only you did not have the license of all those awesome games then I'd have no care for a shitty company like you! Isolationist my ass, they're just being too conservative. SCARED to even make a small leap for the Western Market. Bunch of cowards. dumbfucks.
Looks like I'm going to have to go invest in Rosetta Stone. Their stocks are about to skyrocket!
Good. They are going where the profit is. They still could reskin the characters or change weapons to guns or add more swearing to the dialogue and blood to make it appealing to American gamers.
